First, thank you all for your input. Second, like he hasn't seen the G&O shows many many times.

The poodle barks and barks, then the bulldog thinks the poodle must know something she doesn't know, so she joins in. The poodle never knows anything.

Are you allowed to beat a poodle for nonstop barking at the thunder? Anyone ever try one of those "vest huggy thingies"? If so, do they work better than a broom to the head? Just for the record, I have never hit the poodle...thought about....wanted to...but would never do it.

One of our dogs does the trash eating thing...we generally beat him for it. I haven't heard it called that, but someone else mentioned something like that before. Not on here, I can't remember who it was or where, but I remember it was a mix of stuff. -

People think Southerners are bad about still fighting the Civil War (and we are), these people are still fighting over crap that happened in Biblical times, 2,000 yrs ago. Heck, even I would have gotten used to Yankee's living in the south by then. (the last line is a joke, but making a point that 2,000 yrs is a long time)

People can say what they want about gay people, but you get a roomful of them and they will have a good time. Unless it is at a Southern Baptist Convention.

The OP mentioned a scratched cornea, just to let anyone know that doesn't already know, if you have a scratched cornea, get medical attention. Either regular doctor or eye doctor. I have had several of them in the past and they hurt like the dickens and like one doc told me, people think it will get better but it won't. At least get a patch and cover the eye completely, no light what so ever. BTW, I don't know what they use today, but they used to use a liquid cocaine solution, squirted on the eye, to help with the pain. I have had both eyes taped shut for a week, twice. I learned severa

I have never particularly cared for Joan Rivers. That said, I did read her first book and I do think she is funny at times, really funny at times and there is no doubt she is an interesting person, sharp and very quick witted. When I saw that she was ill, this line by Sheriff Andy Taylor from The Andy Griffith Show came to mind. I thought of this line, not because she is a nasty person, but because how she has always been so good at funny biting and mocking humor, including herself. Paraphrased for gender: "When she goes, she ain't gonna to go like everyone else. She's just gonna nas

Kristoff asks if maybe we are all racists ...

If by philosophy and talking points you mean my opinions, then yes, Boortz was a part of that. So was everyone I have ever spent much time with, including my very liberal wife and you. I happen to think you should be able to defend your self, your family and your property. I also happen to think that if you are committing a criminal act, then you bring about whatever response you receive from those you are committing the criminal act upon. Don't want the response, whatever it is, then don't commit the crime. I have a hard time seeing the faulty logic in this. I was born and raised i -
It seems this couple who had been wanting a child for a long time, finally had a baby boy. They were good parents and did everything they were supposed to do to take care of the baby, but they constantly worried about the boy's future as an adult. One day, when the little boy around 9 months old, the father came home all excited and told his wife, "I have the answer to our worries about JR!" What's the answer, asked the wife? The father replied, I have found a man that for $100 will tell us what JR is going to be when he grows up! He will be here any minute! At that point there was a knoc

As soon as the lab gets my 8mm film developed and I find someone to help me put it on here, you can see our animals in action. (BTW, anyone know a lab that develops 8mm film, the girl at the drugstore laughed at me)

Apparently this Kristoff doesn't understand what the definition of the word racist is. Perhaps as a "journalist" or columnist or whatever he is, he should grab an Oxford dictionary and look up the word before he starts accusing people of being one. Then when he uses the word correctly, I will perhaps read further. Yes, I am sick and tired of people using the word racist when they mean bigoted or prejudiced. They are different words that have different meanings and to use racist for bigoted or prejudiced is not only wrong, it does a disservice to those who did and do fight against racism -
Will GA Schools Feel The Cost Of Educating Illegals Too?
cookies are sweet replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
As long as we keep rewarding people who break the law, we will keep having law breakers. How does this apply to the topic? Break the law by coming to this country illegally and we will reward you by giving your children a free education. How did things get so upside down? -

Correct. Seems to me, that when you get a kid showing up for school that is here illegally, you throw a net around the whole family and send em packing back to the country they came from before they broke into this one. -
Helmets were used going back for ever, but the first steel helmets were made by the French during WWI to help protect men from all the artillery shrapnel. The French helmet was not as easy to make as the English helmet which soon followed the French helmet. The English helmet was stamped out of a single pieces of steel, while the French helmet was welded together from two pieces. The best helmet in WWI was the German helmet, no not the one pictured in this thread. This one, which went on through WWII and was the model for the current helmet used by the US troops today.
-
Wrong. They had a war purpose. ETA, a better way to put that is, they were designed to have a use in battle
-
Nope and nope. BTW, these helmets with the spikes, started approximately in the 1870's and for a short while, some US troops had the same style helmet.
-
While I am sure this did happen on occasion, that was not the purpose of the spike.
-
Uhhhhh......close....ok, not close.
-
At the start of WWI, German troops were issued a helmet that had a distinct feature, a metal spike jutting up from the top of the helmet. Do you know what was the purpose for the metal spike on the top of the German helmet?
