Most of us will not be able to remember this when it happened, as it took place in 1937, but it is something that we perhaps should remember. Japan invaded China in the summer of 1937. That December they attacked the Chinese city of Nanking, resulting in what is now known as The Rape Of Nanking, which is one of the worst things that happened to one city during the 20th century. On December 12, 1937, the USS Panay, a gunboat serving on the Yangtze River, just outside of Nanking, was attacked and sunk by Japanese planes, which also sunk several Standard Oil tankers. Several US personne

I remember a discussion back in 2000 with a buddy of mine that I worked with. He was making fun of Pat Buchanan, who had run for president with one of his main points being that we needed to tighten up security on illegal aliens; those who had entered legally, but had stayed past the time of the visa; and do a better job of closing down our borders to those who were not coming here legally. My buddy was saying that Pat Buchanan saw a boogie man in every illegal alien and every visitor from a hostile country. On September 12, 2001, I called my buddy and said, "I wonder what would have hap

They were Our Gang comedies when they were shown in the theaters, later they were put on TV as The Little Rascals. I never saw them in the theaters (too young, but my father did), but sure enjoyed them on the TV.

Here is a quote from a famous General about war. "We must have peace.... War is cruelty and you cannot refine it, those who brought war into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people can pour out. I know I had no hand in making this war, and I know I will make more sacrifices today than any of you to secure peace. ....... But my dear sirs, when peace does come you may call upon me for anything. Then will I share with you the last cracker, and watch with you to shield your homes and families against danger from every quarter. Now you must go, and take with you the o

First, get some food and rest. Second, help those closest to you that need help. Third, get some food and rest. Fourth, get some food and rest. Repeat. -
That's not the Little Rascals or Our Gang actors, those that are still with us are all in their late 70's (at best) or over 80.

The wife and I both like a spirited discussion, it was on of the things that attracted me to her. We were discussing the great money men of the middle to late l800's and early 1900's and no matter what points I made, she made a counter point and she never backed down. I knew then that I liked this gal. It runs in our families, however when you get a group of her's in one place, they all make their points at the same time, so no one knows who agrees and who disagrees. For the most part, unless I act like an ass, we have fun with our discussions and usually end up laughing at one or the other

We do at least once every couple of weeks. At this point, neither one expects the other to change their mind, but I do appreciate her views on things. (a lot more than I think she does mine ) We rarely let it get out of hand and if it does, guess who is usually the problem......you guessed right, I apologize and we move on.

Why do I think all the ladies will feel this way. My brother says one of the main reasons he likes my wife is because he has never seen anyone that can shut me up with just one remark. Not like in fighting and saying something ugly or mean, but make a point that shuts me down. He's right.

I have made no secret that my wife and I are often on the opposite ends of any discussion. I tend to be more conservative and the wife more liberal...ok, we are usually at the far ends of those positions. However, we do agree on something, mostly I agree with her, she rarely agrees with me. (see, I am more open ) When we have a discussion on different topics, if she starts kicking my rear, discussion wise, I tend to quit making an intelligent argument for my side and instead start going to the extreme, which I know will send her over the edge and end the discussion. (this happens more

There is nothing wrong with caring. It is one of the main things I find attractive in my wife, she has a level of caring for others that is unlimited. (at least as far as I have seen) However, as your point makes, there are times when caring has to be limited to one side or the other, as far as actions goes.

For whatever reason [and I am not sure of that reason(s)] I was never a fan of Joan Rivers. However, you cannot deny that she was a sharp lady, a sharp comic, a sharp business woman, heck she was just sharp. She was a survivor who never stopped plugging away at your job and her life. I am not aware of her being a mean person in real life and I have always admired her for being a sharp lady. Also, no matter how big she got, she always seemed to be a "fan" of show business.

When discussing different topics I am always told, you can't just make it that simple. My question is why not? Granted, somethings are not that simple, but to me, perhaps some should be. Examples of what I consider just common sense, simple solutions to problems. 1. Protect your countries borders, if needed by lethal force. Why? Because otherwise your country will be invaded by those who are not loyal to your country and who wish to overtake it for themselves. 2. If another country or group attacks your country, you do everything you can to eliminate that country or group as a thr
