  1. I will be, with my Miller Lite and maybe MrB will get bourbon. We are staying in for the first time ever on New Year's Eve. Think we'll light a fire, have some drinks, and who know what else to ring in the new year.
  2. Those are pretty funny... I especially like the comment under Jon & Kate.
  3. So, what is everyone doing for dinner? I have no idea... haven't been to the store in forever.

    I'm bored

$600.00??? I woulda laid down and cried when I opened that! I don't know of anyone either, but I hope you find someone.
  5. I won't list them all, but 2009 was not a good year for us, but there is so much to be thankful for. I did lose my job in March, but I was only out of work for two months unlike so many others. I have a home, food to eat, and heat. I have the most wonderful husband in the world (sorry ladies ) and my two dogs. Although, at the moment I don't think one will make it to 2010. All in all I have much to be thankful for.
  6. That is crazy. The something very similar happened to me last month. They raised my interest rate to 27.8%, too, to begin in January. I was shocked. A transaction hit the card on the last day of the billing cycle, and MrB missed it when he paid the bill accidently. I thought it would be on the next cycle and didn't think to check. It was for $10.00, too. Anyway, even though the card gets paid in full every month to a $0 balance, and has for a long, long time, they still raised it to 27.8%. We paid the $10 + $20 late fee/penalty and canceled the card. ETA: It was our falt for overlooking it

    Help

You could stay at the Westin. I bet they have good deals on some of the rooms that had the windows knocked out when the tornado hit. Just kidding. We were just down there not too long ago and I noticed that they still have a lot of busted out windows.
  8. HA! The government, imposing a tax and then taking it away when we are fiscally sound? I choked on my coffee... yes, I would be impressed, too, but know good and well that would never happen. I agree with you on this, UnionMom. While I can't say that I like, maybe it is just a necessary evil. Our tax dollars are spread so thin right now. People out of work, etc. I already hate the amount of taxes we pay each and every year, from the cars to the property to the income. When I moved here from Tennessee I was shocked at all the taxes. I wondered how anyone got ahead here. Anyhoo, sorry -

    Comfort food

I don't check for scores on their feet... lol, just kidding. Yes - I do check the food scores if I have never eaten there before. My dad is a chef, so I was taught that growing up. My father is super meticulous when it comes to food, food prep, and kitchen conditions. It's funny, though. My best friend's husband is also a chef, and he is teh same way. There are a lot of places they won't eat in the Chattanooga area. ETA: I still check the scores periodically even for places I do fequent.

You can say the name, just not in the title of the thread. Are you talking about Dallas on Bus. 6 or Hiram on 278?
  11. Aren't they the best? I swear, no one makes jeans for us shorties, no matter our weight. I end up with GAP or Anne Taylor Loft everytime, becuase otherwise I find myself shopping in the jr. section just to find a pair that fits. I am not overweight but by maybe 5 lbs, and that makes it even harder.
  12. Lady you crack me up! It seems like you are feeling better! I hope so!
  13. Good morning everyone! It is chilly out there. My hands are so cold I am having a hard time typing.
  14. I have never made them myself, but Paula Deen has a good recipe. I had them at her restaraunt and they are wonderful. You could google it. Also, I have read in several places that if you drop a pecan in the pot they won't smell while they cook. I am going to try some, too, this year. I have never made them before so I am kinda scared lol.
  15. If you aren't going to use it, cancel it. If there is a balance, pay it off then cancel it, or find a card that has 0% interest for x amount of months for new customers and transfer the balance to that one and pay it off before the interest kicks in. A lot of credit card companies are doing this b/c of some new laws that were passed. They are trying to get money somewhere else now.
  16. I like a variety of music... I really don't care for most of the stuff that is on the top 40 right now. I even try, but just can't. There's been some here and there occasionally, but rarely. I like a little country, not a lot. But, I love classic rock (60s,70s,80s), most of anything rock/pop/hip-hop from the 80s, smashing pumpkins, phish, widespread, etc from the 90s+. I think my favorite though is mostly americana/alt country.
