  1. Apologies, as I know the devil is in the details, and everyone here has already established that the % is the increase in the mill rate - NOT the actual amount you pay in taxes.
  2. Hey Paulding County! Your Commissioners just voted to raise your property taxes by 14+%. Anybody want to change their vote? Wonder who voted for it...maybe we can vote them out of office.
  3. Not implying that David should or should not endorse anyone. Although I think it's a little odd for the Chairman to openly support who should or shouldn't be on the board. The problem with this is how he slams Beverly for public service/government work - especially since he's drawing a Gov't check now too. Very tasteless. And why? Because she questioned a decision. Would David say the same thing about someone that served in education or law enforcement or maintenance for the county for several years? Beverly hasn't really sought out any "big name" endorsements - as I think her take
  4. Yes....It appears the old Good 'Ol Boy network is gone and the work is underway with this election to put a NEW Good 'Ol Boy network in place.
  5. He'll walk David Austin's walk. Did you see his endorsement ad David has for Todd? www.pauldingpundit.com/2010/08/david-austin-just-jumped-the-shark/
  6. A reminder for you guys and gals that can go out today to see Karen. 1:45 at the old Courthouse building in downtown Dallas.
  7. Beverly took the initial call from Cadillac Products when they made a call into Paulding Chamber to discuss coming here. Her efforts to get the right folks involved and move forward with their interests also had a lot to do with that industry coming here. As much as she gets slammed on here, I think a lot of folks would be surprised if they spent any time realizing what she did while at the chambeer. Pownall and Barnett are not the only candidates interested in encouraging business growth in Paulding. NC-17 - Totally agree with your post as well.
  8. Maybe the P'Com team can get close enough to make this part of the news. Who knows, this is one of 3 candidates - that will be our next Governor. I am too far away during the day to make the event. I sure wish I could!!!
  9. Karen Handel is Coming to Paulding! Karen's bus tour will be stopping in Paulding this Friday August 6th - 1:45pm - Old County Courthouse in downtown Dallas. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors so we'll have a large enthusiastic welcoming committee for her!
  10. I just logged in to post that info about Cobb County. Now for the children, they may survive no longer than they are on the buses. I'm not sure about middle/high, but elementary routes are normally at the longest around 30-40 minutes, right?
  11. Whitey said "I would really like to see the commission candidates debate to see if what is being said in the door to door campaigns would be repeated for all to see and hear ????" What IS being said door to door? Does anyone know? If not, then suggesting something is being said is hear say, correct?
  12. So you aren't in any of the posts up for election, right? No one has been to your door right? Is there a citizen that has heard something door to door that they should share with us? Apparently for now it's another hearsay tactic, huh?
  13. Who are "Powers that Be"? I saw an earlier post that said Precinct Chairs or Captains have the right to campaign if they so choose. Others campaigned and helped with Adam Gregory, Daniel Stout, and other races too. So what.... This just shows that they are interested enough to choose a candidate EARLIER than anyone else cares to pay attention - and help them with their campaign. Why are they demonized for doing so? There is not 1 particular candidate that is supported by the party. And to call out names earlier is uncalled for as well. Again, they have the right to help campaigns jus
  14. I understand there was a lot of folks there - and a lot of people moving around talking to different people. Whenever I've been in social settings like that, I know I sometimes have had to hang out behind 2 folks talking to wait for their conversation to end so I can step up and speak to them. I think the point I was making might be a little different, as this citizen was standing right beside Todd for over an hour. I don't know your full situation, so hopefully you weren't intentionally ignored. In a mingle social setting, it can be hard to speak to everyone you want to speak to,
  15. Are you dense? The guys status has nothing to do with W1972's post. That was all I tried to clarify. I could care less what folks think of the person. The post was about "investigation breaking against Jerry Shearin" right before an election. Sounds similar to this.. breaking news.... let's stir things up... just before an election. And yes, if an allegation was made that is serious enough it would need to be investigated. Just ask social workers how many times they have to investigate a situation - only to find out that someone with a bone to pick made it up or didn't tell the whole t
  16. Good post. You are right about Beverly's dedication to individuals and that she is serious about this race. Her team has been beating the pavement every Saturday since early April. Beverly is always there, and also has gone out several nights a week or more knocking on doors. There was a citizen in Post 2 that came to hear the candidates speak at the GOP when they spoke (I believe in May). He stood in the back by Todd, as it was really crowded. For the entire hour or more that they were there, Todd never attempted to shake the guy's hand, introduce himself, or be friendly at all. That
  17. The timing makes it COMPLETELY political. Whether it "appears" to be more or not. A good smear would "appear" to have substance. Something coming out on a candidate could be by either a supporter of another campaign, or by someone independent with an axe to grind for some reason. But anytime this happens just before an election, it was done to have political ramifications.
  18. Do we know what Post Ms. Doe lives in? I wonder if this is the candidates she wants help in gathering information. Maybe the questions relate to DA, or statewide races? I know in the Karen Handel thread a lot of folks seem to lean towards her, and as far from Oxendine as they can get. Not sure if Jane Doe is in Senator Heath's district or not. I know an independent - but conservative - group that offered voter guidance. If Jane is interested, PM for more info.
  19. No. I was commenting on feelip's comment about P.O.S. - from the post that W1972 made. I'm guessing that original point was that similar rumors about Jerry being investigaged/arrested were made public just before the election 2 years ago. I believe that was all of the post. Jerry being or not being a P.O.S. had nothing to do with W1972's post, which is the point of my post. I have no idea if an investigation is or isn't going on with anyone, as I am certainly not in the know. What I do know is that a bunch of crap hitting the fan just before an election like this is usually so
  20. Really? Cheap shot. I think who cares are the people here that are just trying to point out that FALSE allegations (whether you like Shearin or not) also came out 2 years ago just before the election. People should consider the reason for the delay in "allegations" then and now. Seems to be done with an exact purpose of distracting voters prior to an election. If then or now there was anything to this, it could have been brought forward before 4 days prior to the election. P.O.S. or not - the real P.O.S. is the person that brought false allegations two years ago on Jerry, and the
  21. Great point LR. I guess all posters should remember this at all times - that you see the original topic. Also, I'm curious based on what NJ said if the two female candidates in Paulding are being confused? The one topic that has a website against a candidate was for the House District 19 seat, wasn't it?
  22. Someone records it for their website normally and airs it there. The meetings usually end by 10:30.
  23. The DA Candidates are the guest speakers at this Saturday's Paulding Republican meeting. The meeting starts a 9am, with refreshments served, so come early if you'd like and chat with the candidates. The meeting is held at the GOP headquarters on Seaboard Drive just off 278.
