A friend of mine was at Hunter park this evening and saw police Tow a van and mark the area off. There is speculation that it's his van. She apparently had him as a teacher. -
Should air show have been on Moms Day weekend?
jennilyn77 replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I heard from an unreliable source that Tom Cruise was at the airshow. -
Some things you just can't unsee. But hey, if there is a market for this I'm all for it.

Just so you know, I do think about you ladies on mothers day, and I always will. I don't overlook you. My heart goes out to you, and I know you are strong. It takes strength to put on a smile at every baby shower, every pregnancy announcement, you are genuinely happy for us but at the same time it makes you doubt yourself even more. I struggled with secondary infertility, I know its not the same not by a long stretch. I believe that the ability to produce a child has no bearing on your ability as a woman to love and nurture unconditionally. It is born in us, even if the ability to have childre

If it weren't for P.com and my daughter being in ROTC, I would have never known about the Airshow this weekend. -

Lol, sorry. I didn't read all of the link. Doh! I agree that at least probation is warrented. I was the worst teenager ever, and even I would have never stooped that low. -

Do you have a link? Not that I'm doubting you at all, I just haven't read it. Holy cow, where have all the smart people gone? -
I heard that two of the victims were brothers. One was to be married this October. Somebody lost two sons in one day. Just horrible, for everyone involved, their families and everyone who was unfortunate enough to witness the accident.

Five year old special needs kid handcuffed in Pennsylvania
jennilyn77 replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Children with challenges who are mainstreamed into a regular class are given a support teacher. their needs don't typically interfere with the rest of the class because of that. Early on when I realized my son was going to need help in many different areas I was told that I need to always push for the least restrictive environment. I would tell any parent of a child with special needs to do the exact same. Thankfully and luckily, with the early intervention my son has received, he should be able to test out and not need an IEP anymore around the age of 7. He is gifted in that he is extremely s -

Often times the most exceptional students happen to be the same ones with special needs. I agree, there is no perfect solution but inclusion is something I'm all for. -

I recently read an article written by the father of an autistic boy. In the article he says, "being the parent of a child with special needs has made me a father with special skills." I love that. I haven't read the whole story but I'm reading way too many of these types of stories lately and it disturbs me. I don't doubt at all that the way this was handled traumatized the child. Regardless of any differing factors in the case, the main goal should be to protect the child and his well being and that includes emotionally. The parents should have been called before it was allowed to escala -

I wish they would hurry up and announce it! I really hope they use the name Diana but I guess I won't be surprised if they don't. -

I have told you before that I have studied and read about slavery and the time of slavery. You have shown me nothing I didn't already know. How hard is it to walk a mile in someone else's shoes and maybe look at things from a different perspective? People have a right to be pissed off at this point and if some of you can't see that then I don't know what else to say. I don't think there's anyone here excusing the people causing destruction. Or accusing the police of being racist. I am simply saying I understand the frustration. I know that makes me the minority, and I'm totally cool w

Why are they no longer teaching cursive writing?
jennilyn77 replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My daughter learned cursive for a year. I think it was third grade, maybe forth. She can sign her name, for sure. She reads at a college level and has since she was in 7th grade. She wrote a book 2 years ago about her interpretation of different religions. In elementary school she made a book of all 50 states with pictures, including different interesting facts about each of them. I know a lot of people in the disabled community who will never learn to write at all. That certainly is not going to diminish their success in life. often, technology is what makes some people able to communica -
You think racism doesn't exist because we have a black president? The reason we have a black president is because the Republicans can't find a good candidate to save their life. Literally. This isn't about lack of opportunities, not trying hard enough or having an "advantage" because of the color of one's skin. This is about a community that has seen one too many injustices with no repercussions. This is about police brutality. It shouldn't matter what community the victims came from or how entitled you think they might feel. Wrong is wrong. I'm not excusing the rioters and I sure as hell wo

Wow.

Race was the reason for the riots? For those of you who have a hard time understanding the reason for the anger and mistrust felt by much of the black community, read up on the civil rights movement, heck, read about slavery. Just read something that doesn't pander to your narrow view of the world and history. I will never condone violence or rioting but I would be lying if I said I can't understand why these people are angry. And for god sakes, this has nothing to do with politics. Like I said, I can understand their frustration. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-city/b

I personally would like to think that the deceased meant it to read that way and the editor left it there out of respect. I have always thought to myself that after I die I would love to still be able to make people laugh in some way. I like to think I'm not alone in that.

jennilyn77 replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm in the minority on this. I'm fine with my kids not learning cursive. It's the technology age. I can think of more useful lessons to be taught these days. Honestly, I'm quite relieved my son won't be forced to learn it. -
It's about time!! This is wonderful, life changing news for so many families and children. I do wish kids older than 6 would be covered, but this is definitely a good start. The future of the state of Ga will benefit from this in many different ways. Sometimes early intervention can mean the difference between a child growing to be self-reliant or being a, for lack of better term, a "burden" on the state. These kids have SO much to offer the world, everyone will benefit from this. :)
