I get the same thing basically. Account is not valid. But then when I click on "forgot username", I never get the e-mail about it. If I click on "forgot password" I get an e-mail with a link but then when I click it, it says something else. I can't remember now what it says, maybe they can't process it. Thinking I'll wait until next week and try again.

at getting a QUOTE on a health insurance plan on healthcare.gov? Not the cost estimator through Kaiser but a real actual quote? I was online for two solid hours last night waiting in line for my turn. Finally I get the log in screen but it tells me that the user name I created, and validated, yesterday morning was invalid. I tried it again tonight. About a half hour until the log in screen comes up and it gives me the same message. I'm beginning to think getting a plan on there is like the mythical unicorn. It really doesn't exist.

It let me create an account. I just can't sign on with it. I waited literally two hours last night to get to the log-in screen only to be told it was invalid information. So I created another account, validated that one and tried to sign on only to get the same message. Same thing today. -

I happen to think the insurance commission FOR ONCE had the best interest of the people of Georgia in mind when he created the system by which the "navigators" had to know their stuff. I don't know about you but I prefer that I get my insurance from someone who is trained in insurance and then licensed by the state to sell insurance. If that's an obstruction to the system, so be it. It should never be that you have to trust someone who has 20 hours or less of training to sell you a product as confusing as health insurance. BTW, Georgia is not the only state to be so "obstructionist" abo -
Excellent point, Rhonda! And I still haven't made it to the used book store here yet. Sorry!

Whenever I hear about "free" tests I remember my mammograms in 2011 and 2012. I paid for the one in 2011 out of pocket, no insurance to pay even a portion of it. It was between $125 and $150 TOTAL. No other bills. Nothing. That was it. When I went for the one in 2012, it was "free" thanks to my health insurance. I paid over $150 for it because I had to pay the radiologist. Exactly how is paying more "free"? Same thing with cortisone injections. I had one in my knee back in 2011 that I paid for myself. It was less than my portion when the insurance paid for another one! The thought that someone could have been a "navigator" after just a few hours of training should send the citizens of the country into a panic. You're absolutely correct that the insurance commissioner wanted a higher standard for those in Georgia. Bravo for him!! Actually looking out for the citizens of the state for a change. IMO, if you're going to be advising people about health insurance, you should be a licensed health insurance agent. -

Why should people who plain and simply can't pay be the ones who have to pay the most while those who can pay get the subsidies? Somethings bass-ackwards here. -

Four years ago we never dreamed that my husband would be disabled and I'd be unemployed due to the economy. But yet here we are, with our only income being Social Security Disability. The last year we both worked (2009) was the best year we had had in more than 10 years. Our company was going gangbusters and we were trying to find qualified help to hire. Then came March 25, 2010 when my husband was told he could not return to that job. Ever. When we moved, which we did because we were not going to be able to stay in a two story house much longer, we moved with less than $1000 in th -

Not to get technical here, but Medicare and Social Security are the only TRUE entitlement programs out there. You're entitled to benefit from them because you paid into them. The other programs that are called entitlement programs really not not. They were originally planned to give someone a helping hand when it was needed. Too bad it became a way of life for millions of people. I needed a spew alert for your comment about the government *managing* it. -

Medicare is funded by your payroll taxes and the payroll taxes paid by your employer. It's far from a "government handout". Except in rare instances, you don't get Medicare if you haven't paid into the system for it. -

I created an account yesterday morning. Last night I tried for two hours to sign on. Most of the time I was "on hold". It would finally, about five times, go to a sign in screen but when I put in my user name and password it said it wasn't valid in spite of the fact that I had validated the account when I created it yesterday morning. -

My daughter and son in law are in that position. They are stretched to the max. They have one car to share and it's paid for. They cut everything they can and have lived on basically nothing. They go out to eat once a year--the day they get their tax refund. Fortunately, they are both working but according to the calculator I did they will be having to pay 41% of their income, not take home pay but gross income, for health insurance. They might get Medicaid but then again, they may not. They simply don't have the kind of money that this health insurance law says they have to pay. A -
The water difference could be due to several things. The depth of the water has an impact. There could be a river coming into Mexico Beach, or near Mexico Beach that would bring in silt and stuff. And down here, even a mile can mean a big difference in the water. I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it but there can be a difference within a half mile even. Darnedest thing I've ever seen. We stopped down at Navarre Beach about six week or so ago. Lots and lots and lots of seaweed. We drove down, literally to the next public beach area which was less than a mile away and while th

LOL. Yeah, hubby and I have found a few places that don't post their prices and I keep telling him that they will tell you what it is based on what they think you will pay. Same thing here. I think I'll try again to get on the site in a week or two. No hurry to buy. I got time. -
I've only been to Mexico Beach twice and both times was passing through. I really don't like the water or the sand or the atmosphere east of Ft Walton but I'm used to Navarre Beach. NB is always clean, rarely has a large crowd and the water is beautiful emerald. They have been having a lot of seaweed this year for some reason but even with that, a lot of the time the water was clear. It just had seaweed in it.

There will be different companies that offer it. I think Blue Cross/Blue Shield is one and United and Aetna. Probably more of them, too. If I could get on the site, I could let you know. But here, 90 minutes after bringing up the healthcare.gov page, I'm still waiting to log in. I've made two attempts but it says my account, that I set up and validated this morning, is not valid. So here I sit waiting. -

Yeah, I wonder about them. Lots of people like that too. Just have NOTHING they can cut out to help pay for it. My daughter and son in law are in that position but thankfully they both now have jobs. Until August 2012, they didn't have two nickels to rub together. No car, no way to go except to walk (or have me take them) and I was paying their utilities. Now they are both working and things are better but taking $200 a month out of their income will hurt. And I just did the calculator for them and it came up with over $9000 a year for health insurance! -
Sadly Rockysmom will probably not see this post but the water in Orange Beach is just as pretty as the water in Destin. Until you get west of Mobile, it's pretty much the same. West of Mobile and the sand isn't quite as pretty or the water quite as green. I've seen the gulf coast from Port Arthur, TX almost completely around to Marco Island, FL. The Florida and eastern Alabama coasts are by far the prettiest. The Texas Gulf Coast near the state line with Louisiana has probably the most interesting coast line. They have cow pastures going right up to the water. Quite the contrast to

Yeah, me too. The water and the sand just don't get any more beautiful than along the panhandle, particularly from Pensacola Beach to Mexico Beach. My absolute favorite spot in there is Navarre Beach. Absolutely gorgeous!! Sugar white sand, few people, emerald water. And although it's a half hour drive from here, we haven't been in probably a month.

If your insurance only went up $200 a month over last year, that's below the average I saw the other day. It said on average the premiums went up $260 a month for those who can continue their insurance. -

You're lucky if both go down. My premium is supposed to go way down but the out of pocket and the deductible are more than double what I already have. And I'm more concerned about the deductible than the out of pocket because as a general rule, I have little in the way of health care expenses other than insurance. I've only been to the doctor once this year and it's October 1!!! Most years I go twice. But like I've said about the premium going down so much, I'll believe it when I see it.
