Wouldn't matter if it's more or less than they pay now if they have no way to pay it. And exactly what do you pay first when you have limited income? Food? Mortgage? Health insurance?

I'm sure you read that before posting the link.

Sounds like they were on private property NEAR the bus stop and not actually AT the bus stop. If so, how can the school impose this? That would be like the school telling my kids that they couldn't play with water pistols on my property because it is within 200 feet of the bus stop. Some things are getting ridiculous where the schools are concerned. When I was in school we used to joke about how they were getting to be like prisons. Now it's no joke.

Is that with the subsidy? See, that's where my problem is. I want to go back to work. I can't afford to take a job, pay commuting expenses, pay for clothes, pay all the expenses of working AND pay 1/4 to 1/3 of my income for insurance, which is what I would have to do if I worked even part-time like I was before. It would be like the old days when I made just barely enough to push us into a higher tax bracket, because that has to be considered as well. Using income from my business in 2012, which was a very good year for me, I'd have to increase my rates just to pay the expenses o

Income, sweetie. Income figures in there, too.

Yeah, we're all waiting to see what happens next week when the exchanges start. I really hope mine drops from $432 to $55 a month. Like I've said before, and will likely say again, color me skeptical. For some reason I think it's going to be more like $776 instead of $55. The $776 is the amount I will have to pay without the subsidy.

Does Alabama have something similar to Peachcare? But I'm not sure what will happen to those things after January 1. Not sure if they go away, like the insurance I have does, or not. Keep faith that it will all work out for you.

I see people on motorcycles down here without helmets on and I cringe. My husband is alive today because he WAS wearing a helmet that day in July 1980. I can't begin to count the motorcycle wrecks my family members have had. Those who are gone now died of something other than wrecks on their bikes, too. Lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, car wrecks, aneurysms, strokes, congestive heart failure, murder. No doubt, riding a motorcycle is dangerous. But so is driving a car. -
Apparently if you couldn't afford $400 a month before, you can now afford $375 because the government says you can. And that you have to. If we weren't eligible for a subsidy for my health insurance starting next year, we would be paying almost HALF of our total monthly income on health insurance. With the other half we're supposed to pay car insurance (required), property taxes (required), utilities (not really a luxury) and food (not a luxury either). Right now, paying about 35% of our monthly income in health insurance is a struggle. When the new law takes effect in January, witho

EXACTLY where did I say Medicare, any part of it, was efficient? or that it didn't have massive costs involved? That system is beyond broken, as is the current system of allowing insurance companies, drug companies, lobbyists and attorneys to dictate health care. If you think they don't do that, you're sadly misinformed. Some of them, such as the lobbyists, don't do it directly but others, such as insurance companies, DO it directly. Ever try to get a procedure or test that your insurance company won't approve? Most of the time the doctor won't do it even if you say you'll pay for it out

Am I dead? Is my husband dead? He had two accidents in the same year riding the same motorcycle. -
Make up of the 2003 Congress: Senate 50 Democrats and 50 Republicans House 211 Democrats, 223 Republicans and 2 of other parties Of the top 10 lobbyist groups in 2003, five of them were health care related with a drug company group coming in at #5. And you wonder WHY Medicare is not allowed to negotiate drug prices? Why would you want Medicare, a notoriously inefficient government entity to do this? More government to oversee our lives? They have no way of knowing what a fair price for something that is priced based on demand of the product. In theory, yes. In re

You answered your own question in the first sentence with the next to last sentence. That's why. They will. Give them time. And until they do, you can be sure NOTHING and I mean NOTHING they touch will be correct. For you, I'd suggest the healthcare.gov site. For him, if he's on Medicare, check the Medicare site. There are a TON of supplemental insurance policies out there for people on Medicare. But unless he has a chronic condition that requires a lot of doctors visits, it might not be worth the money for supplemental. And I highly recommend the Walmart prescr

My husband had an accident on his motorcycle when I was 7 months pregnant. The car pulled out in front of him. He had nowhere to go. It was either slide under the car, which was not an option; veer into the oncoming traffic, which wasn't an option; or hit the car. He hit the car, flipped over the windshield of the bike, hit his head (helmet) on the hood of the car and landed on the other side. He broke his leg and got a few scrapes and a really nasty headache. He was a very, very lucky man. I very easily could have been a pregnant widow that day. We were both on the bike one day (th -
People die anyway. It's a fact of life. Did you know that drug overdoses have more than tripled in the US since 1990 and the overwhelming majority are caused by prescription drugs. Or that more than 22,000 deaths a year are attributed to prescription drug overdoses, more than car accidents and gunshots. Think of all the money and lives that could be saved if we started treating people differently. Another payment system isn't the answer.

I have seen firsthand the quality job the IRS does at handling taxes. Why should I believe they will handle this any better? They can't handle imputing data into a computer system. And they won't correct their mistakes. Does that give you a warm fuzzy feeling? It sure as heck doesn't give me one. For your perusal: Q: What role will the IRS play in implementing the Affordable Care Act?A: The short answer is: a substantial one. In his ruling on the constitutionality of Obama's health care law, Chief Justice John Roberts that Congress can regulate health care under its ability to tax.

The BEST reason to oppose Obamacare is the fact that the IRS is going to oversee it. This is the very agency that has repeated sent letters to clients that we had asking for information. Information that we sent to them, using the return reply envelope and mailed with return receipt requested which SHOWED they received it. Over and over and over we would mail this information only a month or six weeks later for the client to call and say 'I got another ****ing letter from the IRS and they say they still don't have that information". This is the very agency that is so inept their left hand

If you believe that there will be no waste in another system, I have some land down here I'd love to sell you. It's totally buildable, high and dry (except for the last three months when we had four feet of rain, anytime it rains, when the fog is heavy, high tide, low tide, days that end in "Day"). Stop the waste!! Don't through out the baby with the bathwater. How about using that wasted money to EDUCATE people on healthier diets, healthier lifestyles, funding prevention instead of cure. Have you ever really LOOKED at your EOB to see what the insurance company pays for t

My husband and I had a friend who did that. Well, not a light post but a street sign. We heard the accident and didn't find out until the next day it was him. -
Apples and oranges. Private insurers have to make a profit, much like you do in order to stay in business. So, yes, they have higher administrative costs than do the VA and Medicare. And not sure if it is still this way or not but when I was working in the doctors office doing insurance, Blue Cross administered Medicare. I can't remember who administered CHAMPUS (the forerunner of Tricare) but it was a private insurance company, too, I think. Considering how badly the VA has treated some returning Iraq/Afghanistan war vets, I'm not sure I'd want to use them as a benchmark.

As I stated in another topic, people are gonna believe what they want to believe, especially if believing a lie benefits them somehow. So, that said, why bother giving an informed reason.

One thing that might help would be to outlaw prescription drug advertising. Then, drugs wouldn't be so expensive and I doubt there would be as many people on them nor would there be the abuse there is now. I'm pretty darn well informed as I have to be due to my job. I opposed it when Hiltery tried to get it through during Clinton's years and I oppose it now.
