is it against the law to film the airport and a power plant?

For partial unemployment, it makes up the difference between the hours you worked and 20 hours. You must work fewer than 20 hours a week to qualify and there are other events that have to occur to qualify you--like you must be a full time employee. But keep in mind, the EMPLOYER files for this and the employee does not. If your employer does not file for it, you don't get it. PERIOD. It also takes about six weeks to get the first check and you can only draw for 3 months out of 12. You also must have worked five periods to qualify. A "period" is a quarter.

Famous last words of a southern boy: Hey, y'all, watch this! And nice to see you posting JJ.

 Postman and I posted the same thing! Great minds. For partial, I think it varies depending on how many hours one actually works. And remember, the EMPLOYER has to file the claim. The employee cannot go to the DOL office to file. Well, they can but it won't be anything but a waste of time. I believe the maximum benefit amount is $330 a week. But that's not for partial, I don't think.

This from the Georgia DOL website: Partial unemployment insurance claims may be filed by employers for full-time employees who work less than full-time during a pay period due to lack of work only. The employees must still be attached to the employer and must have earned wages that do not exceed the weekly benefit amount plus $50.00 ($30.00 if the claim was filed prior to July 1, 2002). Partial claims may be filed via the Internet, on tape or diskette, or by mail. Filing Internet claims requires a password that may be obtained by completing the required information at "Get or Change an Emp

I *believe* the employer has to initiate the claim and that the employee cannot. I'll ask my daughter to verify that. Her husband used to draw partial unemployment quite a bit because he was in construction.

I would think that any money in escrow would go toward the loan payment and not be refunded. At least that's what everything I read has said. It would depend on how your loan is written. Technically, there is no "extra money" to be refunded. Not only that, if you're behind enough in your payments that you're going to foreclosure, there likely is a negative balance in the escrow account.
-
never having gone through a foreclosure, I wouldn't know about what happens if there is more than enough in the escrow account to pay the taxes. I do know that a lot of people are under the belief that banks and mortgage companies don't have to pay the taxes but they do. They are NOT exempt from them, contrary to what has been reported on the news. the definition of ad valorem tax is a tax based on the value of real estate or personal property. It can be applied to houses, though most of us do think of it in relation to automobiles.

It was never intended to be the ONLY form of retirement income. Now you're penalized so much for earning additional income, it has to be the only form of retirement income for many.

families took care of the older people, too. Since most members of the family lived in the same general area, it was no big deal for the grown children to take care of mom and dad, whether or not mom and dad lived in their own home or in the home of the grown children. My paternal grandmother was one of the first people in Cobb County to contribute to Social Security. She actually became self employed, selling eggs, in order to contribute. She had been employed but exempt from Social Security until that point (she was post mistress of Smyrna).

Many people are under the incorrect opinion that banks and mortgage companies are exempt from paying property taxes on houses (and other property) that they own. They are NOT exempt from paying the property tax.
-
the owner pays that, usually through the mortgage company. If it was foreclosed on, obviously you no longer own it.

when I put in my address, it only shows SOME of the channels we get. Certainly not all of them. it also says this: The above listing is a conservative prediction of stations received. It didn't do it this time, but I have gone to that website in the past and got the same message you did.

GeorgiaDawg mentioned it a couple of posts above. Antennaweb.org But I can tell you some of them: several Hispanic channels jewelry TV (a shopping channel) several shopping channels (I don't have them saved on my channel list, so I can't tell you specifics) all the local channels--2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 30, 36, 46, 69 and several of 2, 8, 11, 14, 36. 57 and 63 (religious channels). TuffTV, Oldie Goldies, Prism, Next, some outdoor channel. MeTV is 2-2 and has lots of stuff from the 1970s and earlier, like M*A*S*H, the original Hawaii Five-0, Hogan's Heroes, Twilight Zone, The Honey

my neighbors put them on for any holiday--New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Arbor Day. And I'm talking HUGE fireworks sometimes.

Paulding has been a big part of my life even though I was born, raised and still live in Cobb. I love Paulding.
-
My choices for places to live, if not where I am: 1--Milton, FL 2--anywhere in Paulding County, preferably out toward Rockmart & Yorkville or up 61 towards Cartersville. 3--Rockmart Paulding and Polk Counties have enough hills to satisfy me, the people are nice (generally) and it's close enough to Atlanta if you need to fly somewhere.

 Many, many rainy and cold evenings have I gone out to move our antenna. And I'm not talking about while I was growing up. I'm talking in the past 25 years! Growing up I was the one who got behind the tv to disconnect the cable and hook up the antenna. I did it so often, I left the screwdriver on the TV.

well, I for one are concerned about it. My 18 year old granddaughter is attending college in Washington, DC. I would hate to think she became an innocent victim of a terrorist attack. -

sorry to disagree, but it wouldn't do a thing. Been there, done that. Got less than no interest from the DOL. -
It's called an antenna. What you can get with an antenna will blow your mind! We get probably 60 channels--everything from the local stations to the religious channels to Hispanic programs to Oldie Goldies (most of which are in black and white) to sports programs to several different WSB channels and 11 Alive channels. I think there may be a difference in rooftop antennas and those you mount in the attic but it's possible the primary difference is WHERE they are mounted, not how. Ours is on the rooftop, on a pole about 20 feet long and we have a rotor so that we can turn the anten

all the 'no jobs' threads got me thinking
Mama Carol replied to angiecochran's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I agree. Some of the things prospective employers want is ridiculous considering the pay they offer. I have no problem with a background check or a drug screen. Don't really have a problem with a credit check if it's related to the job. If I were applying for a job as a bank teller, yes. If I'm applying for a job as a receptionist who has no access to any money, checks or anything like that and you're paying $8.50 an hour, no. I definitely agree with the statement I've highlighted in red. It's definitely a buyer's market out there. -

1. location if you post a job listing online, mention the general area where you're located. Marietta is a big place. Is it Marietta east of I-75 or Marietta near Lost Mountain. Mentioning the general area would cut down on the applications you receive for people who are too far away to make the drive for the pay you're offering. Most job sites don't leave room for that kind of detail, also as the applicant you need to do some research on the company you are applying to - it shows interest to the employer. Not that difficult to say "Galleria area" or "off exit 220". And how in the heck do y -

:clapping: :clapping: Thank you!! Yes, they are wealthy for a reason. Generally the reason is lots of hard work and a lot of luck. And being wealthy is not a bad thing. How many really poverty stricken people employ others? Not many, that's for sure. Small business owners may struggle but their businesses are the EMPLOYERS of the majority of the people in the US. Those business owners may eventually fit the term "wealthy", too. I'd much rather be wealthy than poverty stricken. I've been poverty stricken before and it ain't no picnic.
