  1. My sister in law loves Walmart, too. She usually makes a day of it and goes to Walmart, Sams and the Douglas County library. They live 1 mile from the Carroll County line in southern Douglas County, so it's quite a hike for her to go. I have a couple of Family Dollar and Dollar General stores a lot closer than Walmart, plus I have Kmart closer than Walmart. I prefer all of them over WM. Just never been a fan of WM, even when they have a fresh, new store. The one here is a pain to get to so I only go when I have to, which is about once a month or every six weeks. The customers are rea
  2. Yes, I am. I rarely shop at Walmart though. I think I have a balance on a gift card from the Savings Catcher of about twenty cents. I should have a dollar or so by the end of next year. I'm not a fan of Walmart and only go there about once every 5 or 6 weeks. I have certain things I get there. I get them and that's it. I'm gone after that.
  3. I've ordered from Walmart and used their "ship to store" shipping. That was a good deal. They were items that weren't usually carried in the store and we didn't mind going to the East-West Connector to pick them up. I have to get a new crockpot. Thinking of ordering it from Walmart. I have $20 in gift cards. That should just about pay for a crockpot, or at least a big portion of it.
  4. It's movies. Ordered Blu-Ray by mistake. They have issued a full refund already. No possibility of returning it by USPS. It has to go back UPS. Already have the label printed and ready to go. Found a box to put it in while at work today, so all I have to do now is find my packaging tape. It's SOMEWHERE in the house. I've purchased several items not sold or shipped by Amazon. I had a problem with one of them and Amazon refunded the price. I was a little surprised that they did. Really odd that I have ordered from Amazon for years and just the past three weeks have had t
  5. What about us babies of the family? Do we get a special day?
  6. Geez, what is going to attract people to AL now? Just a stop on the way to FL?
  7. Our garbage has been picked up as early as 5 a.m. before. Especially during the summer, they will come earlier than usual. I can't blame them for that, either. When we lived in Powder Springs, our garbage was picked up around 4:30 every Tuesday morning. If it was 6 a.m. and they hadn't been yet, you knew something was bad wrong. They didn't get there until around 9 during the bad snow of 2011. I think they were the only garbage service that picked up on our street that week. That's one reason why we had garbage pick up with them. They were reliable.
  8. I didn't call them either but I wasn't given a choice. Just sent the link with the return label to print. They're paying to ship it back, so I don't mind going out of my way a bit to get a box. I was hoping that wasn't going to be necessary. Since it seems like it is, I'll run by UPS at the end of the week if we don't have a Tyvek or padded envelope at work. It's just I won't have a chance to do it until Friday.
  9. They only sent me one link and didn't give me a choice. We have plenty of USPS shipping supplies at work but probably nothing from UPS. Of course. I don't mind going to UPS as Amazon has been awesome about it. It was my mistake but they issued a refund within 2 hours of me contacting them. Just hoping that we have a mailing envelope at work tomorrow. If not, I'll run by UPS or the post office on my way home. I used to keep that type of mailing envelope on hand but haven't needed one in a long time.
  10. Yes, I do. I guess the best thing to do is go to the UPS store and try to find something similar to what it was shipped to me in. Unfortunately, we don't have a UPS store conveniently located. And the closest one is a bear to get into and out of. Oh well, it's gotta go by UPS. And I have to add that Amazon is awesome about returns and refunds. This is two orders in one week that I have had a problem with. The first one was a damaged item in shipping. Oddly enough, the box was undamaged but one of the 12 bottles inside was broken. Amazon refunded that order and said kept the other 11
  11. If you ship something UPS, does it HAVE to be in a box or an large envelope? Can it just be wrapped in brown paper?
  12. Maybe she will see this and see it as a wake up call.
  13. No, after three years of trying, we gave up, closed the business and moved. We simply could not find someone with the necessary skills who was willing to do the job.
  14. "corporate hoops"? In a small, independently owned business? Where I work we have had five people in the same position since September. The job pays more than minimum wage but it's the toughest job there. You have to have a thick skin to do because you're dealing with the public and a boss who hasn't had to be considerate to employees until recently. The person who left in September had been there for 13 years. The 20-something year old ex-Waffle House waitress lasted the longest so far since September--barely six weeks. I've talked to a co-worker who filled me in on some of t
  15. An honest employee won't steal regardless of what they receive in pay.
  16. I went to a local hair salon around Thanksgiving. My hair was waist length. I wanted it shoulder length. Not only did I not get it cut shoulder length, she cut *maybe* an inch off it, but she bitched and complained about people showing up without an appointment (that would be me trusting the "walk ins welcome sign), bitching and complaining about how the boss left her there by herself around a holiday and bitched about other things I didn't pay any attention to. Obviously she paid no attention to what I said about how I wanted my hair cut because when I got home my husband said "I thought
  17. I've never really had dealings with Todd. We have mutual friends and mutual business acquaintances though.
  18. You're assuredly not Todd Pownall. I'll vouch for that.
  19. Wow. I'll be one year in June (right knee) and again in September (left knee). Best thing I ever did.
  20. A transcript is done from audio recordings, correct? Having worked as a medical transcriptionist for 17 years I can understand how there could be missing or inaccurate information. If you're listening to someone talk, who may be feet away from the microphone used for recording, and you can't ask them what they have said, yes, you can miss things. All the time. If it were as easy as people think it is, every transcript (and every closed captioning) would be 100% accurate.
  21. Tell her you need to go to Pensacola on business. Come see me and we'll go to a Mardi Gras parade. You'll get beads. And if you're lucky Moon Pies. Take the wife a Moon Pie and some beads and she should be good with that. You'll just have to give it to her on Sunday, as the parade is Saturday. Laissez les bons temps rouler And Happy Valentine's Day. BTW, I'm with you on the deal about Valentine's Day. I'd much rather my husband bring me some jonquils he found out in the woods, or a candy bar if he goes to the store. Heck, I was thrilled by a flashlight. He thought of me and
  22. YAY!!!! Always a good sign that spring is on the way.
  23. They used to teach that in school. It was called "Life Skills". My oldest daughter took it. Then the schools switched to "Quality Basic Education" and all the really important things like drivers ed as part of school and "Life Skills" were replaced with things that didn't prepare kids for life that well.
