Part of the reason I never got my license even though I took the course. I HATE having my picture taken. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Did I mention I hate it?

Isn't that the truth.

I've been in literally a hundred houses over the past three years, dealt with five different agents. ALL of the agents I dealt with had photos on their cards. It is customary, at least in the area where we have been looking, for an agent to leave a card on the kitchen counter when they show a home. Almost without exception THOSE realtor cards have photos as well. I really think it is more to make themselves seem more approachable and more honest (HA!). And, too, to where if you've never met your agent before you meet them at a house somewhere that you will at least have a clue what the

She is precious!! I so enjoyed holding her for a little while one day. And she is a good baby, too.

He looks so much younger, doesn't he?

UPS and Fedex won't have your e-mail unless you give it to them.

Unless I've ordered something, why would I open an e-mail like that? And usually it's the MERCHANT who sends the shipping information, not the shipper.

We have dealt with two agents in Florida. I would not have known one of them if I walked up to her on the street based on how she looks in the picture on her card and in her ads and website. Does not look AT ALL like her. The other one looks very much like the picture on her card but she wears her hair differently now. Still looks like though. I had to stop myself from laughing when my husband told our current agent last Saturday that she needed a more current picture on her card. I've thought the same thing. Yep, I've wondered why they have them, too. And why they have "slogan

example of why i don't like paperless bank statemnents
Mama Carol replied to Pinches Monos's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It can happen. I even agreed with I_Have3Dogs. Anyway, I agree about the online access. I get a paper statement from the credit union but I check the transactions daily. I am paperless with Suntrust but I download and save the statement, so if want to print one out, I can. That account has so few transactions on it, it really doesn't matter if I have a paper copy or not. And I can always download another if needed. Just a side note, I haven't actually written a check in so long I'm not sure I would remember how. I was in Florida for a month and paid all my bills online, just -

I received two checks from a client. They forgot to sign them. I took them to my bank to make a deposit. The teller didn't catch it. The client's bank didn't catch it. I had endorsed them on the back with "for deposit only". This WAS the both banks fault for not catching it, as well as mine. However, they shouldn't have to be the one to catch it. That should have been me. Ultimately, the account holder is the one in control of the account. The bank has to follow their rules. In this case, they were doing what they were instructed to do BY THE CUSTOMER. Again, this is why -
You can take it to Austell Boxboard. If you have enough, they will even pay you for large amounts. Take 278 toward I-20 into Cobb County. Go to Humphries Hill Rd (just before you get to Veteran's Memorial). Turn left. Just past the four way stop there is a road called Joe Jerkins Blvd, that turns to the left. Go until you see the mill. They have dumpsters there where you can just toss it, along with any recyclable paper FOR FREE. The dumpsters are across the railroad tracks, in the fenced off area to the left. If you want to get paid for it, you will need to go through the scales.

I am the same way with my credit card. I have a running total (in my head) of what the balance should be. I thought my bill was a big high this last time. Turns out I got charged twice for renewing my anti-virus software and got billed twice for my cell phone. I had gone in to make a change to my cell phone plan (I can change plans at any time) and then when I saw the effective date I cancelled. Apparently THEY didn't cancel the charge, but they didn't change the plan. Have to work on getting that charge removed today. Got the anti-virus duplicate charge taken care of. I agree. Tha -

This is why we began requesting a voided check when we did a tax return and the client wanted direct deposit. And we had two different people verify the data entered in the return. Yes, ONE digit can be off and the deposit will go to a different account. Unless you KNOW what is supposed to be going in your account, even when you get the statement you won't have a clue that something is amiss. I fail to see how this is the bank's fault. They were just doing what they were instructed to do BY THE CUSTOMER. -
I know both Pete and Danny. Very nice, honest people. I had completely forgotten about mentioning Danny when you were looking for gutters! Glad you found him. I just Pete.

You're right. Some people don't have the discipline to save. If getting a refund is the ONLY way they can save money, bless their hearts, let them do that. But if you're living from paycheck to paycheck, saving nothing and paying extortion rates of credit card interest, you would be better off taking that money each paycheck and putting it toward your credit cards even if you don't save a dime. I can't tell you how many times we did tax returns and when we called to let the person know the return was accepted and the anticipated direct deposit day was such and such, they would cheer a

You, too.

That's OK if you don't get it. Most taxpayers don't. They use tax withholding like their savings account except they don't earn interest on it, while they would if they put the same amount of money that would be withheld into a savings account, money market or some other investment. They don't earn interest on the loan to the government either. But like I said, that's OK if you don't understand that concept. You're in the majority there. I understand what you're saying. It's just that what you're saying is not good financial sense. It's a commonly held belief but it doesn't make i

If you don't get back the "average" refund and instead adjust your withholding to just about break even, you would be having around $200 a month more in your pocket. The average tax refund is around $2900. Divide that by 12 and that gives you the amount you would have in your pocket each month instead of the pocket of the IRS and the government. Granted, a lot of that may come from EIC but just take a look at the amount of taxes you have withheld and then look on your tax return for the amount of tax on your income. Adjust your withholding to where you'll break even or close to it. More m

Actually with the average income, we're talking several HUNDRED dollars a month. I understand WHY people want to get refunds. I just don't believe in giving interest free loans to the government. I don't think there is a single tax preparer who does. They see the folly of it. BTW, my return is done. I get zero back from the state, pay the state zero and have to pay the feds $98. I'm a happy person!
-
That's something I just cannot comprehend. Living from paycheck to paycheck and then getting a refund because you have overpaid your taxes. Just doesn't make sense. My son in law was all upset because he looked at his year end pay stub and saw there had been no federal tax withheld. I looked him square in the eye and said "what difference does it make? You get it all back when you file your return. Isn't it nice to have even a few dollars more each payday?". He was afraid he was going to owe. With two kids under 4? Nope. He has a difficult time realizing that his tax situation i

Me, too. People should not be getting tax refunds.

There is no rhyme or reason to when they do the deposits. Keep in mind, the dates given are "anticipated" deposit dates. Thousands and thousands of things can change that.

Restored Payroll Tax Pinches Those Who Earn the Least

I take that as a compliment. Also a complaint. If your MIL worked and paid into the system, no matter how short a time as long as she paid into it long enough to qualify, there is nothing wrong with it. My paternal grandmother signed up to pay into the Social Security system when it started. She raised chickens and sold eggs so she would pay into the system. She was covered by both. She stopped selling eggs before I was born though. Not sure how long she did that but that is how she "bought into" the system. Back then, you had to pay in to get anything. Yeah, that was a -
It seems to work a little differently now, too. It took me about five tries to make a change. And now, sorry to say, I can't remember how I did it or else I could tell you. I think you actually click on what you want to change and make it there.
