When I called to make a doctor's appointment the other day I had extreme difficulty understanding the receptionist. EXTREME! When I went to the office, she wasn't any easier to understand so it wasn't the volume of her voice. ABSOLUTELY!! When your health is at stake, you have the RIGHT and the responsibility to make sure you understand what is said to you and it is not racist or bigoted to have to deal with someone you can't understand. Your life, or that of your loved ones could be at stake!

English Second Language. So, an employee should be able to sue their employer because a customer/client/patient did not want to deal with them? Unbelievable! Are you an attorney?
-
So, should a non-English speaking or someone who is ESL be able to file a lawsuit against their employer because you don't want them as a caregiver?
-
But unless her employment was terminated because of the parents request, she didn't miss any work due to the request. If she didn't miss work and was just re-assigned elsewhere, what was her basis for the lawsuit? "People didn't want me to care for their baby and it hurt my feelings"? C'mon, that's not a basis for a lawsuit! That's childish. In that case, you say to yourself "OK, these people don't want me to care for their baby so I'll provide a little extra care to the next one". Instead she said "hey, let's file a lawsuit against the hospital!" After all, hospitals have money and usu

I had one of those mattresses, too. I will NEVER again buy Stearns and Foster. Never, ever. Hated that thing. You're right, sheets would not fit, not even the deep pocket sheets. We bought it in 2001 and had to replace it in 2007, after the thing started sagging the first year. It was HORRIBLE!

Off topic, but in regard to your comment about your then-16 year old nephew being at Shepherd, that wasn't in 1996 was it? My daughter's ex-boyfriend spent a lot of time at Shepherd following a horrible car accident that happened when he was 16 in June 1996. Not to defend the hospital really but I'm sure they made the decision to reassign personnel based on the fact that they were afraid they would be sued if they didn't. But unless the nurse who sued was terminated because of it, why in heaven's name is SHE suing? I don't understand why anyone would care either but I know that

Several people I know as well as myself found the job postings at the DOL to be less than useful. Of the literally DOZENS of referrals I got for jobs they had posted, I only had one interview from those and it wasn't quite what the job posting said it was supposed to be. But definitely use that as a resource for job leads, as well as Craigslist and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce (my husband found two jobs through DCCC). Not sure if this link works, but if it does, it will take you to the clerical job postings for Cobb County Schools. http://star.cobbk12.org/jobpost/J

Cobb County Schools has one opening for a driver and one opening for a monitor right now. But they also have lunchroom monitor positions open at a number of west Cobb schools as well as a clerical position open at Birney Elementary (just east of Austell Road and not far from the East West Connector).

Two reasons I wanted to get into the medical field: Nurse Ruth and Nurse Mary. Nurse Ruth was a feisty black lady who worked for my family doctor for years and years and years. She had the biggest heart and cared as much for the patients as the doctor did, and maybe more!

I worked for a physicians group back years ago. Two of the doctors were Jewish and one was from Puerto Rico. We actually had a patient or two who refused to see one of the doctors because of their nationality or religion. People can be really narrow minded, especially when their health care provider is involved. They also have the right to have whoever they choose to take care of them.

Ours was delivered to us on a day very similar to today and was the last delivery of the day. It was like sleeping on a cold rock that first night!

That's one of three things he has. The other two being arthritis and degenerative disk disease.

LOL. When we went to buy our mattress, I think the salesman couldn't wait for us to leave. We tried them all! I don't think he liked us doing that. We were there for at least two hours! We loved our Tempur-Pedic to start with. Two years later, we hated it. We both have back problems and it just does not help with that. We got one based on reports that it was the best kind of mattress for a person with back problems. Obviously not the back problems we have. I wish ours had the gel insert. I think it would be more comfortable.

The way it was explained to me is that unless your body comes in contact fairly closely with the foam, it won't build up heat. I can see a huge difference in the amount of heat I feel even just putting a second fitted sheet on the bed. The quilt made a huge difference but wasn't very comfortable. I preferred the heat over the bunching fabric of the quilt. Are you the one who said they had a gel component to the mattress? That seems like it would make a big difference, too.
-
ANY mattress pad on a Tempur-Pedic will help with the heat. I used to use a quilt between the mattress and the sheet. Worked great for keeping the heat away. A side note to anyone with a memory foam mattress or pillow: be sure to let them air out and cool off before making the bed. You don't want those warm, often sweaty items covered up.

I am probably in the minority about Tempur-Pedic. I hate it! You're right, they are hard and they are hot. If your other half is near menopause, she does NOT want a Tempur-Pedic. She will be miserable. Case in point: we have the heat vent cut off to our bedroom and keep our heat on 65 anyway. We use a sheet and a lightweight comforter on the bed. IN THE DEAD OF WINTER! And still almost every night, I have to throw the comforter off. We have had ours since about this time in 2007. We have wanted something else since about 2009. No real problems with sagging but I don't

They only had one full time employee. They recently cut her hours to 30 or so.
-
Not just unemployment but underemployment, too. My son in law had his hours cut as did everyone he works with. Now they don't have ANYONE working full time. Not a one of them. The store is open from something like 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., too.

Hasn't Target used something similar with color coding of bottles? We don't take prescriptions on a regular basis, so I have no clue what any pharmacy does other than Kroger, which is where we normally get scripts filled on the once or twice a year occasion we need them.
