Considering the Bush administration TRIED to stem the problems during that time, it is rather unfair to say they didn't do anything. During that time, the regulators were less powerful than the groups they were supposed to be regulating. The banks, mortgage companies and insurance companies were telling the regulators what they would do and the regulators were powerless to stop them. I'd be happy to recommend a book on that very subject if you are interested. It is a non-biased view at those times, which incidentally go back to the Clinton administration. I suspect the same thing was happ

Have you ever woke up laughing or pissed off?

About two years ago my husband woke me up screaming. He dreamed he had been shot. That was scary for both of us. I have dreamed about someone hurting one of my daughters. Couldn't sleep well for several nights because I was afraid I'd dream it again. Hugs to you for that dream! -
Being part Cherokee, there is NO way you can compare deporting illegal immigrants to the Trail of Tears. No way. For one, the ones who were sent on the Trail of Tears were here BEFORE the white man was. Long before the white man was. I have family in Oklahoma who got there because their grandparents were sent there when the Natives were moved from this land. Don't DARE compare the two events--deporting ILLEGAL immigrants with removing NATIVE Americans. That is an insult.

We wanted a home inspection on the one we live in because we wanted to make sure any work that needed doing was not beyond our means or ability. The inspection found a few little things but the most major thing was no dryer vent to the outside. House was in great shape for a 37 year old house and had been maintained very, very well. We paid cash, so no inspection of any kind was required by a third party. Yeah, mortgage companies don't give a rat's furry behind about the home buyer's health.

I hear you!! That's one reason why we let our memberships lapse. Took too darn long to get out of there. Worst time was when I went to pick up a prescription and they closed for lunch just as I walked up. I was walking on a broken foot, in a cast. Then when I went back after their lunch break, they claimed they had called the doctor's office for a refill and never heard back. I went home, called the doctor's office and they said absolutely positively they received no call from Sam's. I asked them to call it to Kroger instead and never went back to Sam's for prescriptions. Shortly af -

I did that a lot after my grandsons were born. Then again, I spent almost a year crying around the clock. -
I went to donate blood today. My blood pressure was a little high. I told the nurse I really expected that because I woke up just royally pissed off this morning. By the time she finished my physical, we both had tears rolling down our cheeks. I dreamed early this morning that I was at Sam's trying to buy something. I didn't have my member card with me and they kept saying I needed to provide them with the number or else they couldn't sell me whatever it was I was trying to buy. I kept telling them I didn't know the number and finally told them to keep the *&*() stuff. I was roya

Must be. It's not required here (actually there, in Georgia). In fact, an inspection is not required. Generally a darn good idea. Some mortgage companies want you to have an inspection prior to getting a loan but not all do. Certainly not required if you're paying cash.

The Social Security office in Marietta is almost where Hungry Fisherman was. Not exactly, because I think it's about a half block closer to Cobb Parkway. I sure do remember Journey's End. That was the hot place to go when I first started working. My office manager lived in the apartments behind it, too. One year all of us kids got together and took our mom to Journey's End for Mother's Day. It was rare that she would go out to eat but she did like that place. One of my high school reunions was supposed to be there. It closed about two weeks before the reunion. They had to mo

The difference between medicine as a racket and a service

There is a lot in there I want to especially the ones I highlighted because those are the keys to a more efficient system--control big pharma, control waste, make patients more aware (and more liable) for what things cost, start with the least expensive/most efficient treatment FIRST and get regular check ups (I'm sorely lacking in that one). We were surprised when we went to get car insurance here in Florida. It costs as much for two cars here as it did for three up there. Why? Attorneys. Half of the ads you see on TV are for attorneys, even during network programming. All are tout -
I remember now!!! That restaurant was The Hungry Fisherman.

To my knowledge, it is not required when you sell a house to have it tested for radon. Nor is it required that it be tested if you're a buyer. Termite letter IS required, however. I could be wrong since I've only bought three houses and sold one. And we just had the one we have for sale inspected. Radon was not tested.
-
Like so many other things, just say no. Yeah, you can buy the test kit at Home Depot or Lowe's and do it yourself for a whole lot less. But why.

I remember that place. Can't come up with the name of it either. I'm sure someone will. I went several times and loved the food. I think the Social Security office is basically where it was located. I remember the Plantation motel. And the Georgian Oaks. Man, those were the days!
-
I have heard that. I can't remember exactly why we didn't eat there when we stayed but I think they had closed for a couple of days. They were remodeling the place and had limited rooms available and limited facilities open. They were getting ready for the big holiday season. Apparently they have a Thanksgiving buffet that is to die for (and hard to get a reservation for). We were there about 3 weeks before Thanksgiving. Whatever it was, I remember we felt fortunate to get a room there for two nights because there was such limited availability of rooms. But plenty of room in the parking

We had one go out on each unit--ours and at our rental. Hubby replaced the one at the rental but couldn't have crawled under our house to work on that one had his life depended on it.

The stepfather of my best friend in 8th and 9th grade was the manager there the year we were in 8th. He moved to the GEX on Cobb Parkway when we were in the 9th grade. I spent soooooooooo much time in Gibson's it was like a second home (then again it was within walking distance to my house).

Perdidio Beach Resort. Actually in Orange Beach but you'll never know you're not in Gulf Shores. Magnificent place!!
-
We had that happen once, too. Never did it again, either. We also had a capacitor go out on ours. If hubby had felt like crawling under the house, he could have fixed it himself. He didn't and called Rainwater. They were out there in about 90 minutes and had it fixed in about 5. Apparently the capacitor is something you can see if it's gone out. Well, if you don't have to crawl under the house to see it. But I agree. Check the circuit breaker.

Twice. For real!! Anyone who doesn't like chocolate is just...... I don't even have words for them. I thought it was one of the four basic food groups.

I TOTALLY agree on the raw fish. Nope, nope, nope. Don't even suggest it to me. I'll eat raw veggies and fruits but nothing that was at one time living and breathing (or swimming). The rest of that stuff I love, especially the pimento cheese. Well, not the snake. But it was OK. Too bony.

I'm not arguing. I'm saying a referral from someone who has dealt with a business is priceless. I have nothing against YOU or Ragsdale. In fact, I have heard nothing but good things about Ragsdale (they serviced the system where I used to work and were excellent from what the landlord said but it wasn't MY experience). I HAVE personal experience with Rainwater. That's all I'm saying. I think the OP would get excellent service from either company. But I can't refer someone to a company I don't experience with. That is just plain wrong. I could give them the name of a company but

That's why people ask for recommendations and why a recommendation for someone who has provided a good service for another person is so valuable. You know Ragsdale. I don't. I know Rainwater. They even showed up earlier than they said they would! Can't beat that with a stick.

Not sure what reruns show up there but tonight the episode that I think is the second funniest of all of them is on. The one where Charlie and Mia consummate their relationship. Funny as all get out. That is one funny show. I love it.

It was at the bottom of the page when I was responding with Rainwater's number. Don't know the folks at Ragsdale. Do know the folks at Rainwater and they are the ONLY people I'll let touch my HVAC system. I wish I could have them come down here (maybe I need to ask Creig about that).
