Ah, don't get me started on that. People can be ice-cold, and usually because they've never had to deal with it. God forbid they have a child who goes through it or other loved one....perhaps even themselves, since I've seen addiction grab the least of the likeliest and ruin them on less than one year. Some folks just don't have a heart until the crap hits THEIR own fan. Kinda makes me sick to read such opinions.

So did I. I had no idea he was even an addict.

They're some sharp folks. I've brought mine to them a couple of times in the past when time wouldn't allow me to fix it myself. -

I used Nick a few times when I was too busy to do my own repairs. Great guy, and I miss him too! -
It's a "Slimline" tower. They are notorious for their short-life PSU's. There are also additional heat issues with her unit. The hard drive is the only thing that hasn't raised a red flag so far.

Will half the jobs in our economy disappear in 20 years?
subby1 replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yeah, and I was told we would be using the Metric system exclusively within 2-3 years too...(This was when I was about 7 years old). Actually, since getting back into my development career, things have picked up remarkably!! I doubt we'll ever get back as much as we did when we had the throttle all the way open and blew the engine all to hell. But building is definitely happening again! All those empty foreclosures finally got scooped up and more people are moving down here. And I think most people know by now....when building does good, EVERYTHING does good!! I'm more optimistic about thi -
Don't wait until the last minute. NOW is the best time to get your mowers repaired and tuned up. So, call me while things are still slow. In about one more month, I'll be pretty busy, and possibly backed up for a week or so. So, the sooner, the better!! ALSO...the 20% off labor ENDS on February 15th!! 678-315-8794. Don't have a trailer or a truck??? No problem!! Pick up and delivery only runs $30 (total both ways), but will go back up to $40 after this month. Even at $40, I seriously doubt you'll find anyone who'll pick and deliver for less than that. **(applies to South Paulding, incl

Right...and while not as good as D.D., it still sounds incredible, especially when you're drizzling off to sleep. The read speakers are basically at my head....using the multisound feature, I hear things well without disturbing the room mates.
-
Yes, I am fully aware of all those points. The surround sound theater is for the DVD players and other things that utilize the 5:1. Of course I don't even miss it with other things that aint making full use of the surround. There are settings that mimic it well enough to keep me happy, as it's all in my bedroom anyway. Now, my living room is a different matter. IN short, everything (all devices I have in my bedroom) plug into a rather complex DVD burner that accepts everything I've been able to feed it, both new and old tech. The ONLY "Monster" cables I have ever bought (and still do) are

No I haven't. I fell asleep last night before I even got to use mine for Netflix. Give me some examples of what you mean? It basically is an interface with your internet service to provide TV and movie services via the net. (A Blue Ray player without the Blue Ray part).
-
It's a kick ass deal. I know that buying a blue ray player would have done the same and only been 20-30 more. But the fact is, why waste the actual blue ray resolution on a no HD TV...? I also noted that since there is no blue ray player built in, they must have put more into the processor, because it interacts with the net much faster than my blue ray player does (which a few years older, also).
-
I saw that also. Just didn't need it as the TV is where it will always be. Just needed that one box. (and the wireless aspect was a life saver!)
-
This thing was like $50. The wireless capabilities were enough to pay for itself, if I had to run more CAT cable through the house. Also....it loads and streams much faster than my older Blue Ray player ever thought about!

The Other Zero-Tolerance Policy: Drugs and Alcohol

How can courts decide anything, since the premise of this whole dilemma hinged on ZERO TOLERANCE? (The ultimate lazy-man's guide to not giving a single crap about any kid)...(Unless it happens to your own kids, then wow....what a change of mind takes place). Zero tolerance requires no brains, no judgement, etc. It's the perfect solution in meeting out justice if you are of low intellect, have actual simians in your family tree, or just flat out don't give a crap for our future (which is our children). I hope you folks don't think I'm too hard on Zero Tolerance....fact is, I can't even -
I aint even thought that far ahead. I didn't eat this morning, and had to run up to Kennesaw to meet with my new boss and get my first paycheck. I stopped at Buffalo's in Hiram on the way back and got a rare cooked Mushroom and Swiss burger. I was living large today!! Gonna have to work at home until 2-3 in the morning, so I guess I'll hunt up something else good to eat before bedding down. Probably a nice sliced ham, lettuce, cheese, and mayo sammich. It's cheap and it's still one of my favorite things to eat! I picked up a nice big T-bone from Ingalls today...on sale for only $6!!! It's a pr

Long story, short, I wanted to access my Netflix and online things from my bedroom. I have a very nice (but older) Toshiba TV in there with full surround sound and all that good stuff. I thought I'd need to buy a cheap blue ray player in order to get my online stuff. But a guy at Best Buy set me up with a Roku...basically just an interface for your router to pick up all that online stuff. It also has (which was mandatory for me) the basic left, right, and video outputs. Most all the blue ray players feature HDMI ONLY outputs (and digital coax, neither of which would work on my older TV). This

Just a reminder folks....February (mid-month) is when things start picking up pretty quick. So, the sooner you get your repairs done, the faster you'll get them back. I repair and service most brands of lawn mowers, blowers, trimmers, generators, and other outdoor equipment. I certainly don't wish any harm to come to anyone, know matter how stupid they may be. But I do agree with you about the massive onslaught of warning labels and overly protective measures on many things, where common sense should suffice. There are two reason we are bombasted with this stuff, 1. Legal matters and frivolous lawsuits, 2. People don't seem to have the common sense they used to have. Unfortunately, both reasons are indicative of the sad state our nation is in.

The Other Zero-Tolerance Policy: Drugs and Alcohol
subby1 replied to Mrs. Mac's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm dead set against Zero Tolerance, which is simply removing good judgement from any equation. I'm all for punishment too, however, depriving any kid from getting their education is counter-productive. In fact, when kids do dumb stuff, it shows a need for MORE education, not less. I'm not sure what kind of punishment would work, but there's plenty of options besides halting education from them. -

Anyone who thinks they are about to be busted. Same reason they'll toss a few hundred dollars worth out the window when the blue lights come on. -

Great post, as well as some others I read today on here. I'm really siding with the Plan B thing. I know it would mean more work, and I'm already looking into ways to streamline the business. Mostly, by doing away with the "totally rebuild mower" part that I've done in the past. Tune-ups and general repairs are fine, but I had several customers who would bring in several "flea market" items and would want me to basically rebuild them because what they picked up was so worn out and falling apart. Working behind the computer does not take a lot of physical effort and is not a problem for working

Oh okay. I guess I misread it then. I thought No. 2 was the maintenance job and No. 1 was in sales... My bad. I do know that sales are doing quite well right now though.

I just wanted to get some outside response from my local peeps to better gauge my decision on keeping my shop open. I am working in residential development now, working a min. of 40 hrs per week with the go-ahead on 60 if I want them. The money is very good. However, I really would like to keep my mower repair business going, in fact, even expand it this year since I have additional income to rent a store front. I guess my question really pertains to how much my Paulding customers rely on me after almost 7 years of service provided. There's only two other shops in this county that handles
