Where'd you fill it up at?

My yard is always occupied with teenagers coming and going, so I don't have much to worry about...not to mention no one in my family keeps anything of value in our run down heaps that we drive. I doubt a crook with half a brain would even bat an eye at the stuff in my driveway! .....unless they have a thing for empty McDonald's bags. I can remember back when car stereos were targeted and stolen a lot (back in the mid 80-90's era) when a good stereo cost a lot of money. But thanks to the Chinese, now you can get a stereo that does everything but dishes for $100 or less, at Wally World

This was not from Kroger gasoline, in particular. In fact, the only gasoline I ever buy is either from Kroger or Grands, and all of my equipment runs terrific and always has. See my diatribe about ethanol...there's your culprit. It's entirely possible that Kroger, or any other station could be buying and providing higher yield ethanol gasoline. But, since all of my outdoor use gasoline is treated with Sta-Bil, it takes that factor out anyway. Sta-Bil is your friend and saviour, when it comes to gas, no matter where you bought it. This is the first time I had ever heard anything about Krog

Correct. In fact, the ONLY vehicles that actually require higher octane gas have it written/stamped/marked (whatever) somewhere on the dashboard or instrument panel. Example, a Ford Taurus SHO clearly states "High Octane Fuel Only". But like you said, if the car does not implicitly state this then you are certainly tossing your money out the window. Incidentally, pretty much ALL gasoline is tainted, with a minimum of 10% ETHANOL. Worst thing in the world to do to gasoline (and downright stupid, since the notion that it saves the environment, money, or anything else positive is a blatant l

The mall on the strip is the only change I liked. And that's not enough for me to go back. We've been going every year for longer than I can remember, and I'm just tired of it. Gimme a cabin in the mountains for a weekend and tubing down the Toccoa River!!

That's what it all comes down to- if you want to be successful you need to WORK like a mad man!! (or woman). At least when starting out, it takes more dedication and hard work than anything you've probably done all your life. But if you're up to putting in 16 hours a day sometimes, it can be done. Things will get easier as it goes along, as long as you treat folks right. But that starting point will really kick your butt.

Regarding taxes, you should hire a VERY GOOD CPA, and meet with them on your best options. In my case, an S-Corp is the best way to go. Basically, you set up a salary for yourself that comes from the corporation. Set your salary at a bare minimum point to cover your bills. This will help you a LOT in the taxes owed department. If you can manage your business without hiring additional employees, that will save you a bundle, since you won't have to pay TWICE for each one (so to speak). You'll also receive a degree of liability from having a corp. which will keep people from suing you directly, a

That's true UNLESS you can find an investor. That's how I am planning on buying a shop. The investor buys the shop himself, and I make the payments to him with interest. Having collateral may be required in most cases, but this guy is helping me based on reputation for providing satisfaction to customers. I know this is a hard thing to find, so I do consider myself lucky having someone that believes in me. Otherwise, then everything else you said is dead on right- you do what you have to do, or starve. And we both know that a father and husband WILL do whatever they can to feed their family.

If someone tailgates me in an aggressive manner, well....they're just making themselves later, because I WILL slow down even more.

You folks are remarkably kind to me!! I only wish I had the words to express my gratitude for the nice things you folks have said. YOU FOKS are MY inspiration!! And I thank ALL of you for that.
-
OMG!!! That was one of the hardest things I've ever came across!! I am currently shut down until I either find a shop, or get my permit to go mobile, so you folks please take notice of this!!! You are free to call me for advice, and I have another location in a different county for major repairs until then. I am doing all I can to get back into the business of providing you folks with excellent work as soon as possible. But until then, feel free to call me, and maybe I can help you out over the phone. Just DON'T show up at my residence, please!!!! Doing so could cause me more problems that I

Shorter tempers are a sign of a depressed economy, but it's still no excuse to harass other people, especially on the road. When someone rides my ass, I simply flip my rear view mirror up and out of my sight, and turn on some soothing music. At that point, my stress level goes down immensely. It doesn't matter what the idiot does at that point, because if he hits me from behind, it's his fault, and my insurance company will sue to the max. Our economy IS in the crapper, for sure. But the last thing people should do is use that as an excuse to become uncivilized. I was among the first to ge

And possibly YOU as a witness. Burn the guy down, I say!!! There's no excuse for that. A simply flip of the finger would have been enough, but to carry on, drive thru stop signs, etc. this person is apparently more of a menace to society than just while driving. People that drag things out like that tend to be disturbed, and often pose a threat to anyone who pisses them off. I hope they give him total hell for that.

Actually, I think there's room for another one too. I am currently working on that right now. I need to get my license, and my permit. Then set things up so I can take in enough volume to make it work. But, absolutely!! Mower season will be ending before long (although I am out of that for this year, other than rebuilding and selling restored items). But I have been rebuilding, repairing, and custom building computers for a very long time- since Windows 95 came out, in fact. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me earlier to start a business doing it by now. I still fix my own computers and I

I provide music for weddings, primarily on the piano, but also on the organ if you would prefer. I have been playing weddings professionally for over 25 years, from standard outdoor weddings, on up to some of the largest churches in Metro Atlanta, and even at the Grand Ole Opera Hotel. No two weddings are ever alike, since this is a most special event for the bride and groom. Standard wedding services include 15-20 minutes of beautiful, soothing music on the piano, followed by the procession, any special songs required during the ceremony, and the exit music, while the bride, groom, and al

The Olive Tree restaurant in Hiram is soooo good!

The food is awesome!!! It would be really cool if they had like some piano music in the background...ya know, like LIVE music??? I'm joking around, of course. I miss playing there though. Maybe I should go down there and try to land another night of playing for you folks. All in favor, say "I"....then you have to bring it up while you're down there. Maybe they'll give me a call and have me back in. I've played at B.B.'s 4-5 times in a 2-3 week period. Sure would like to play over there at Olive Tree again though....especially on the patio!! That would be awesome playing outside while the -
Wow! I am so glad I stopped watching the news a pretty good while back. I think I'm gonna have to stay in my bubble for a while longer. Bad things have always happened, but today with the press like it is, you just get sick to your stomach after a while, they way they push it over good things that could be news. But only the negative sells.....we all know that. So, I just read the yahoo front page, if something catches my eye. I guess this is my own way of enjoying my later years....no news. The only TV I watch is movies. Movies relax me as much as music, plus they can take you away,.

The Board of Commissioners have appealed the Rulings
subby1 replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Well stated, and it only fuels my resentment for the county. I'd be fine with the GBI stepping in and turning this ass-backward government on its head, even if it meant dismantling the whole damned thing, lock, stock, and barrel. This is gross negligence, amounting to a personal vendetta, that the citizens of the county are having to pay for. A mockery of how any government should be run....in fact, a total joke that is no joking matter, if you will. If I was a government employee, I would quit and take a job at Jiffy Lube just to have a FULL TIME job, even if it meant less pay. -
Fixing the budget/deficit issue - a modest proposal

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. If the politicians were paid a middle class wage, and given shorter term limits, it just might help turn the tide back into what a public servant should be. Politicians are more bloated than ever before, and what THEY stand to put in their own pcokets takes precedent over what they are there for- to represent the common man, period. They do not live in the real world. Why not fill those seats with professionals who got laid off due to the disintegration of their career fields, and have exhausted their UE, and learned how live cheap??? Those are the ONLY peo -
While I have no problem with making change, I must admit that after graduating and getting into engineering, it was the logical calculator (or rolling register calculator) that made a below average student in math into an engineer. Only problem now, is that I rely so heavily on my calculator that I find myself clouded once in a while over a simple problem I could have done in my head. It's been one of my best friends for over 27 years, and I'm just stuck with it, I reckon. But, ya know, a calculator is pretty worthless if you don't understand the equations and how to apply them.

There was plenty of great music in the 80's. The only thing I despised were the "commercially built" bands, when producers were taking big name musicians and slapping them all together with members of other bands. The Traveling Willberrys (sp) were the only commerce band I think was even worth giving a listen to. But then, look at who they put into that, and it wasn't so much a producer's idea, as it was a collaboration between the best of the best....Tom, Roy, Jeff, and the rest.

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR LANDLINE PHONE BILL LATELY?
subby1 replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Not me. I had digital voice as a land line, and dropped it last month! With 3 cell phones in the house, I didn't see the point. -
What he said, and I would like to validate my confusion as understandable, as my mind apparently did NOT wander as far as the OP would have intended for it to. Not all of of us possess the "The Dennis Miller Factor" as well as others.
