  1. Statistics show that it differs between women and men. Men are much more likely to do it. As being the natural provider, when men suffer a layoff, the depression goes over the line too often. They feel a sense of inadequacy and worthlessness. Done that, been there. Thank God, I have two wonderful children to keep me going and finally get through it. It's just a sad situation. All you can do is seek out those few good things left in life, and cling to them as tightly as possible. It's not easy to do, but it can be done.It can be about being tired when you're older, but most times in younger peo
  2. I'm so glad to hear that. That makes it worth it all, right there! It's been a while since I've played Christmas stuff. I could have thrown down a lot better on my rock, honky tonk, and country. I only get to play Christmas songs once a year, so I felt a little rusty, and tried to keep it a little lower keyed so I wouldn't get in over my head!
  3. It was such a beautiful day to play in the sun too!! Thanks for having me!
  4. No sir. But, it will say "did you mean Glenn Giles" when you type in Jiles. It can be rather confusing, I understand. No biggy though. No need to change the pin though, since we have this thread. I probably shouldn't have even brought it up, since you were so kind as to pin it in the first place. I just know that a lot of my old friends have had a hard time finding me on facebook because they too, thought it was Giles.
  5. That is awesome!! I know you must be very proud!!
  6. I am speechless and humbly honored that this tribute song made such an impact on other people. Playing music is usually referred to as a talent, but I prefer to call it a gift from God. I never really got into lessons or reading music. When I hear something, I just "see" it in my head and it just goes right to my fingers. Last night was just one of those rare nights when I had this song on my heart. I didn't arrange it, it just came out. In fact, I would have to "learn" this song in order to play it the same way again. I know that sounds weird, but that's how music and piano are and have a
  7. I think the movie, "Men In Black Part 2" explained a lot about how amazing the postal service is in the USA....they're all aliens!
  8. Like I told you earlier today, I appreciate the opportunity to help you guys out, as well as considering it an honor that you wanted me to do it. You could have called anyone, but it makes me feel great that you called me.
  9. I got back from meeting with some fine folks today, and this is what I can tell you about it. I will start playing piano in the courtyard of the Dallas Square at 12 noon until 1:00. Just some Christmas songs to get everyone in the mood. After that the parade will begin around 1 and will last for about 2 hours until 3. Please make your plans to attend this event. It really should be fun, the weather is supposed to be nice and warm, and everyone's going to have a great time!! I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I hope to see some of you at the Christmas Parade in Dallas.
  10. Last night I made an attempt to watch "The Devils Own"...Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford. While the movie was like watching paint dry.. Harrison's character symbolized the difference between hard ass "shoot first, ask later" (revenge and protocol are 2 different things) I loved the way Harrison played his part. He kept his dignity and sanctity to his job....leaving the court of law to preside. FYI- Mr. Ford lives in the rich man's part of the Rockies in Wyoming (Jackson Hole). He has rescued several groups of imperiled climbers who got in over their heads...he's an accomplished helicopter pilot al
  11. I had a portable record player....talk about a weird kid!!! I would sit in my bedroom at my desk, building model cars for hours on end and play the latest 45 over and over...The Things We Do For Love, comes to mind among many others. Mom said it was the glue I was using!!! Not so...I have always loved building things, and I tend to like my alone time. Always have....always will. It's nice to share the fruits of it with other people though, now that we have internet and all that.
  12. I'm as southern back woods as they get, and I used to call it that too, because momma called it that....it even spelled out on the bottle. Same thing, I reckon, just changed the name.
  13. I have heard these stories a million times but I don't know why. In my experience, the US Postal service has always been the ONLY efficient government run entity I have ever seen. I sometimes mail to friends in Jacksonville, FL....they almost ALWAYS get the mail the very next day, never more than two days. I can only see that as one of the most incredible things ever, especially for the gooberment. Maybe someone can clarify for me....is the US Postal Service 100% government? I ask because Norfolk/Southern (whom I thought was also government ran) is actually not. They don't even take out S.S. b
  14. That is what makes Curtis the man of the year, IMO!!! He's always there right on time to save the day (and save my own arse a few times too). Go, boy!!!! :clapping: OMG!!! Where have you been????!!!!! Missed you so much. How long has it been??
  15. If this was you and Pubby talking.....well, good idea!!! Spare them. I can only imagine! I need to stop by for another visit!!
  16. Sorry....my mind went dirty there for a second! I saw some at the Dollar Store the other day...ahhh, nostalgia! Of course, there's no telling how old the stuff was. Good ones!! The Alka-Selzter commercial when the hubby is playing it cool and saying it's the first time he ever had chicken and dumplings made from ONE HUGE dumpling. And who can forget..."what's my little skeptic up to today???" reply- "I'm frying the cat in pure Wesson Oil!!"........no, wait...that was a parody from The Kentucky Fried Movie...the first of its kind
  17. That's why he is SO GOOD!! During my "hot" season, I simply didn't have time for computers, so I called on Nick to set me up. I trust that guy 100%. I can't blame anyone for wanting to spend time with family. Lord knows, I've turned down many on the road tours with really good bands when my kids were still young children. If I had it to do over again, I'd do it the same way. Nothing is more important than your family (and friends) and having time to spend with them.
  18. As most of you know, one of our best computer geeks in town will no longer be servicing. There are other computer repairmen in this county, and I only want to be called on as a last resort, if they are too busy to handle your problems. I am simply offering my services on comp repair until this Spring, when I intend to open up and expand business in lawn mower and small engine repairs. While it is possible I may be able to manage both, depending on how well computer repair goes, I strongly encourage you to check with the main commerce members here first. The last thing I want to do is take any
  19. OOPS!!! I just realized this is the HIRAM celebration. I'll be at the DALLAS one, not Hiram. Sorry for the mix up. I think...I need to see what tomorrow says. I'm cornphuzed!!
  20. I'll get details tomorrow, but I think I will be outside on the square around 12 noon. I'll post details after my briefing tomorrow.
  21. I was asked to play piano, so I'm pretty excited about this! I am getting details this Thursday.
  22. Dude! You've got a great full time job with OT. When engineering picks back up, I hope to be back to my 20+ year way of life too. When that happens, it'll be a bittersweet departure. But I'm sure I'll still be fixin mowers in my off time, as you will no doubt keep the family and friends fixed up. Good luck to you, and bless you for choosing family over business. I know we need both to survive, but family always comes first. You're a fine man for knowing that.
  23. Your Matrix theme was great. But, I take Pubby to say that there is such a thing as extenuating circumstances. And rare as they may be, were they not carefully picked through and scrutinized, it would make it so easy for any of us to frame someone we didn't like...and yes, revenge comes in many forms and people still do this. When it comes to criminal justice do we deserve any less than 100% non-bias, and a close examination as to what facts come up before being prosecuted??? Sure, but unfortunately, being verbally persecuted is something everyone has a right to take as well as dish out. How n
  24. Handing it over to family helps a lot because you are no doubt versed in it. I haven't had that luxury yet. In fact, I would have to say that my 17 year old daughter did better carb work than the guys I hired. She's 19 now, and I told her to hang it up- I knew she didn't like getting those soft pretty hands all dried out in gas. Quick learner though, she was!
