    hey subby

I know. Give me a little time. Fortunately, this is the longest mower season has run this late in the year, so I'm still pretty busy on that for now.

    hey subby

I am certainly no Nick!!! However, I have fixed more than a few, as this became part of my job as an engineer in the office, with everyone using computers. Seems I was elected to be trained to fix them. Truth is, I'm not much fond of laptops at all. I excel in desktops, custom builds, and things like that. I'm good at virus removal though. I thought about trying my hand at this on a professional basis, but there are hurdles to cross with Windows 7 and 8. I have laptop experience..I just don't like messing with them....too cramped for me, except for total software repair. The power plugs and ja
  3. That's good advice, but if you've never hired someone else, many of us know how tough it can be to hire the right person for the job. Nick's name is on his work, just as mine. The people we hire have to meet that criteria to some extent- this is very hard to find, at least it has been for me.
  4. Yep!!! Unfortunately, YOU are the one who has to change the number to clear it all out. Sucks, I know.
  5. My opinion is simple...I'm SLOOOW right now. Let me look at it, perhaps fix it and we'll work you something you are happy with. Tis the season to take me for all I'm worth!!! I'm the kind of guy who HAS to stay busy all the time, so bring it on. I'll call it a quest! No charge, but you can tip me if you are happy with the results. If I can't fix it then you allowed ONE (only one) sharp blow my "left" jaw....I say left jaw, because it's slightly out of kilter with the other side...it's possible you could fix that in my deficit of fixing yours. In other words....yes, I would be happy to l
  6. Great story, and I would love to be back in that time. But you also have to consider, even thieves had a limit just as most law enforcement people. Back then the thief would have more likely thrown his hands in the air. A good explanation to this is that both thieves and security are pushing the limits more than before the good old days. It's also common knowledge that the Great Depression is what spawned a torrent of organized crime, or at least added to the problem exponentially. The thieves get worse (and meaner), thus security gets tighter (and meaner, like it or not). And tighter security
  7. It is a different subject, but an answer comes to my mind when I read this, and it's called QUALITY. Also, "service friendly" comes to mind. American made products are usually serviceable when and IF they break down. Most Chinese designs are such as to render its products "totalled" over the smallest thing breaking, necessitating a full replacement.
  8. I will remove this thread later tonight, so I can move on. But I want to thank ALL of you fine people for your prayers and kind words. You have all been a great source of strength and help to me during this time, more than you know. Rainy's Memorial Service was yesterday, and it finally brought closure to all of us. I know she is in a better place now. My head was actually clear this morning and I was able to work much better than I had been the past 3 or more weeks. Thank you all again. I wish I had better words to express that, but "thank you" is the best I can do.
  9. I beg to differ on this. Practically anything you can buy over seas is still made here. The reason most people don't know this is because they shop at Wally World. American made products cost more money and are sold at more reputable stores. Not many people have enough money in their pockets to afford American products, unless it's for something they rely on, such as quality tools, music equipment, and other things. I have seen some real head scratchers over my time too- my wealthy aunt and uncle will shop ONLY at Wally World, yet gripe about the trade imbalance. On the flip side, I have a
  10. Quality work, fair rates. Call me for more details. Glenn 678-315-8794
  11. A close friend of mine started on bottom at WalMart. After only 3 months he was offered a lucrative position as floor manager, or something like that. After the first week he quit, citing his total disenchantment with what he saw and how the store policy was slated as the "most unfair business policy" he had ever seen before. While giving up a large salary he told me me without too much other detail that he had to sleep at night. To this day, he will not give me specifics on what this policy was, only to summarize that they basically wanted him to do a "deal with the devil" for the position, a
  12. Noooo!!!! Danggit Nick!!! What we will do now???
  13. Let us all be reminded that whatever the shop lifter took, it couldn't amount to more than a few bucks on the Chinese market. Who ya cheerin' fer now? Just some food for thought before we crucify a man who stole some cheap piece of crap. He's dead now. How 'bout them apples??? Don't it make you wonder, as an American??? I mean really....don't it?
  14. Wonder no longer...there is a myriad of security people at these stores. They all have comm's with each other. THAT is the security they call. You would be surprised how many "shoppers" at Wally World are not there to shop- they are working and watching. The security folks are not related to the cashiers and so forth, but they are many. Simply put, a security officer screwed up and tried to play cowboy. That's NOT what they train you to do.
  15. Doesn't make it any less sad that a person's life was extinguished for shoplifting though, IMO. Crap happens, though, I suppose. It's just sad. I mean when the cops pull someone over and they start firing on the cops- I say EMPTY those clips, boys!!! This is such a benign crime for the guy to have died.
  16. They're not supposed to though. One of my ex-friends was a bounty hunter, and she worked security for several department stores and the rules of engagement are very clear. To paraphrase, "you are in a department store full of women and children...diffuse the situation as passively as possible, wait until they get outside if things look like they're gonna get nasty, and make sure you call in LOTS of support before trying to physically apprehend".
  17. And there you have it. Not following protocol during the commission of a crime, and a resulting death. Wally World needs to pony up. Shoplifting is a crime, but we are also not the middle-east or China, though there are always comments I read that suggest the desire we should be. Life is precious, and I wish more people could understand that. Forgive me for not agreeing with the lynch mob mentality.
  18. Wow! It's a small world. I knew that when I pulled up at the church where the service was held today- it was the same church I played in during my teen years, and the same pastor I had known since I was about 15-16 years old. The service was very nice, and I think it helped to bring closure to the kids and extended family and friends. I was up really late last night scanning and cleaning up pictures for their slide show. Everything went well, and I think everyone is relieved that Rainy is finally at rest and no longer having to suffer.
  19. Major Nelson was DA MAN!!!! Always loved watching him trying to explain his way out of her magic flubs, and NEVER could understand why he didn't see how much she loved him! (on the show, of course) Now.......as J.R., he was just MEEEANNNN!! But a very adept actor.
  20. What tater-tot said. Same here! Hang tough, and save the drinking for the GOOD times. It only makes things worse the next day when you use that bottle in the hard times. I'm speaking from past experience, and hope I don't come across the wrong way. But, I know exactly where you're at, probably, and its tough to not just sorta "check out" for a while. I hope you get through your situation with victory to boot!
  21. Wow! You know Steph? I've got a couple of pics I really like. Here's one... Loved that strawberry blonde and electric blue eyes!
  22. Like I posted in the Community thread, her kids all came over here this evening with lots of pictures. My aunt scanned all of them and I am now "dressin" them up a little so I can make a pic CD. I'm going to find the purtiest one and post it on her initial thread. Her kids were okay with that (I wanted to ask them first to make sure it was okay). It was very comforting to have all of her kids over here and to just talk and go through the pictures. We all had a good time thinking & talking about her. I've only dated her for about 5 months, so it was intriguing and fun to hear all the funny
  23. As a "play by ear" musician, all I see in my head are the notes, chords, and melody. Music either sounds good or it doesn't. I guess because of my eery instinct to "see" only the music, lyrics have always eluded me. I like all kinds of music, including hard driving rock and roll, as long as it sounds good to me. The local news bothers me a lot more than any kind of music ever has. Just my 2 cents.
  24. I used to get calls from people up there wanting to buy mowers from me. I have since cleared that up when I post to craigslist by using ALL CAPS as to specify my location better, namely using Douglasville, GA as my location. That fixed it though.
  25. Happy Thanksgiving to all my pcom friends. I hope you all had a wonderful day.
