Just trying to point out that she more than likely received extensive weapons training compared to average joe citizen. And yes she is considered an armed citizen, but most folks would see her as an off-duty cop performing her duty. Wonder how many armed "Good Guy" citizens were running for their lives from the gunman that day? We will never know. Realistically, most don't truly know how they will react in that situation until it happens to them. The officer was trained how to respond and she did so successfully.

I don't know if "careless" is the right word. My first thought when reading the article was why was she in a position to be overpowered. Maybe it was carelessness on her part or maybe a bad procedure design leaving her vulnerable.

Thank God they had their vests on.

Just saying... Someone who was fully trained and authorized to use deadly force took the "bad guy" down. Why was it kept out of the media spotlight? Probably because it wasn't an armed citizen, but a trained officer. Do you really think they would try to make her a "Hero" for doing her job, even though she was a true "Hero" and saved lives. How often do officers truly get the credit they deserve?

What Would Have Happened To This Teacher If He Had Intervened?
Jetsmom replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That basically says it. Danged if you do, danged if you don't. I still remember Mr. Davis getting punched in the face when when he stepped outside our classroom to check on the commotion outside. So many sue-happy people out there that would sue the teacher, the school and on up, because the teacher stopped their bully-child, or his/her victim, and their arm was broken (or much worse) when the teacher pushed them backwards to stop the fight. Restraining a person can cause unconsciousness or even death. No wonder teachers are reluctant to intervene. Too much of a chance for the stude -

Does anyone know if she is life-long Paulding co. person? -
I have been guilty of throwing banana peels out myself and other foods (not any paper wrappers) in my younger years. Figured they would be eaten up by animals and just decompose easily and I was right. I stopped when it was explained to me that it attracts animals close to roads, hence road kill and auto accidents. Plus it attracts wild animals into populated areas which are dangerous for them and us humans. "Don't feed the animals" it can kill them.

I did research for a paper on cigarette butts and their dangers. The one that bothered me the most were dead birds found with cigs inside and they died from nicotine poisoning. Did you know they often wind up in our water supply filling it with wonderful toxins? And that because of how they are made they can last as long as plastic. Also a fire hazard. Plus they just plain look nasty on the side of the road. I could go on and on..... Kudos to the officer for stopping you even if it was a mistake. Also kudos to the op for being innocent!! I detest litterbugs.

You can order most any combination from McDonalds and they can ring it up. I will usually ask for the "red" onions on my quarter-pounder or cheeseburger instead of the small white (previously frozen) ones. Sometimes i have to ask for the "angus onions" so they will understand. Other times, i will get the grilled onions or the special sauce that normally come on the CBO. It improves the taste of the smaller burgers or chicken.

yes, from my post earlier today : From the article: "Postal Service Loses Record $15.9 Billion" 11/20/2012 "When the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) lost $5.1 billion in FY 2011, it was just getting warmed up, posting a staggering $15.9 billion loss in 2012 and for the first time exceeding its $15 billion debt limit. As expected, Postmaster General and USPS CEO Patrick Donahoe used the unhappy news to once again call on Congress, to help out the USPS in ways it helps out few other "businesses." No Person Got Shot, Stabbed, Slashed, or Murdered in NYC this past monday " It may be a small — or, rather, nonexistent — number, but it's a heartening statistic: there were no shootings, stabbings, slashings, or murders in New York City between around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night and 11:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, the NYPD said, according to NY1. Police can't remember the last time that happened. " link: http://news.yahoo.com/no-person-got-shot-stabbed-slashed-murdered-nyc-153318577.html

Lawsuit filed on Paulding deputy Brandon Howard

From the "color of law" "Color of law refers to an appearance of legal power to act but which may operate in violation of law. For example, though a police officer acts with the "color of law" authority to arrest someone, if such an arrest is made without probable cause the arrest may actually be in violation of law. In other words, just because something is done with the "color of law", that does not mean that the action was lawful. When police act outside their lawful authority and violate the civil rights of a citizen, the FBI is tasked with investigating" -
Part of any security plan is having trustworthy employees. In this case, the airport employee was inside the fence to catch the bag. So, the "insider" defeated the fencing. The threat of an employee being able to harm a plane and passengers will always be there.

You will come out cheaper ordering a kit to be delivered to your site and hire your own contractors. Fireside Log Homes main office and show houses are in ellijay. Next time you are at the wally word or grocery store magazine section, buy a copy of "Log Home Magazine" and in the back advertising, you will find lots of companies and builders in the southeast
