  1. So that makes me wonder if you got any pm's that say, "How you doin'" CR
  2. I'm sure you mean to write "that sucks big time!" CR
  3. Wow! A banana seat! I think I remember one of the "American Picker" guys go nuts over one not too long ago. CR
  4. Thanks for the correction, MTA and yes, I have known some jerks in the bike sales business, which is why, when it isn't gears, brakes or a tune-up, I opt for the catalog sales guys. I have seen some ridiculously high mark-ups on stuff like water bottles, for instance, but I guess they have to mark up higher to make money, and I do try to support my local shop when I can. Also, thanks for mentioning the bigger stores - I completely forgot about them. It would be nice if someone opened another bike shop in Hiram, being that one of the bigger Comet trailheads is there. And 'pip, that was
  5. Last time I was at BJ's they had moved out of that Kroger shopping center into a mini-mall in that same area. What happened to them is what happens to most bicycle shops that open with a lot of inventory: cycling is seasonal and they don't have enough revenue to make it through the lean months. That's what happened to the one we had in Hiram as well. Inventory just got smaller and smaller until one day they were out of there. For stuff like chains and/or pedals/jersey I buy online from Bike Nashbar. CR
  6. That's Bicycle Jones (or that was what it was called a year ago when I needed some parts). CR
  7. I forgot something (I seem to be saying that a lot these days!): You need to be fitted to your bicycle in order to avoid all kinds of back/leg/knee problems ahead, and only a decent bike shop will do that for you, so skip WalMart and Target for that service. As my old guru, the late Sheldon Brown used to say, "If it does not fit, you must not sit!" Click on the link for a wealth of cycling information. Oh, and yeah: go for a road bike. You'll find those big knobby tires on a mountain or comfort bike are kinda hard to deal with, even on the small inclines of the Comet. And, if it's
  8. I started off on the Comet with a Schwinn Sierrra "comfort bike", but soon switched to a Trek road bike (smaller tires and faster). If all you're going to do is ride the Comet, then any good bike will be fine - just not a Huffy. You sound like you know a little about bikes, so I'm sure you'll spend enough money to get something safe and something that has good enough brakes to stop you when you need them. The only bike shops I know of that are knowledgable are Bone Shakers in Powder Springs, Bicycle Jones off the Dallas Highway, and Pepetual Motion in Carrollton. There is also one right
  9. No horse in this race, I just thought it was humorous that on the main page, which shows the latest topics, this topic reads like this: "Has Mr. Cole and the school board done the right thing by WHITEY?" CR
  10. I had the honor of working with Sara for 17 years, and everything stated in Jeff's obituary fits her to a t. She was a wonderful person and I am sorry to hear of her passing. Sincere condolences to the family and her co-workers who loved her very much. Bill Craig
  11. Never met her in person, but saw her years ago at a place in Atlanta called The Great Southeast Music Hall. IIRC, the other act was The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (as they were called back then). I do have one of her guitar picks, though! CR
  12. The one I knew had a Shell station in Villa Rica, where I used to charge outrageous amounts (for the 60's) in fill-ups to my Dad's account. He had a son nick-named "Snuffy" (no joke) with whom I played football (for Coach Roger Sauls) and who should be about as old as me now: 25. CR
  13. A small observation and then I'm out of this thing: It sounds to me like y'all are debating (when you're not calling each other names or saying what the other person is full of, that is ). If you agree that it's a debate, can this thread be moved to a forum which will provide that kind of platform? Seems to me that a lot of feelings were rubbed a bit too raw tonight, and that really didn't need to be. CR
  14. Nothing else. Just wishing you a happy birthday. Bill
  15. Damn right on Andy Griffith, but if Sutherland can't "keep it between the ditches" in his private life, I have no use for him on tv. I couldn't "keep it between the ditches" in MY private live either, but I have paid for my transgressions several times over. Right? DAMN right! CR
  16. Remember too, that what you're doing at the time you listen might make a difference. For instance, I just recently started training for a marathon. I LOVE running to music, but I'm "heavy footed", so ear buds won't work for for me - they shake loose. What DOES work are light "on the ear" phones, but with a headband to keep them secure. Take that into consideration before spending a lot of money, or you'll be sure to be disappointed. CR
  17. Well, I woulda said "Scheisse", but as long as you're happy about Wednesday, let's just leave it at that and hope you enjoy your day to yourself! Alles klar? CR
  18. If you still check in here, Helga, let us know how you and "Der Meister" are doing and if you need anything! Thanks Bill
  19. Awwww, don't feel bad. While you were gone, I actually DID get the 6 string out, looked up the chords and sat here and played/sung it. First time in about a year that I've picked and grinned, so thank you for the incentive. (Now I have to build up those damn callouses again! ) CR
  20. So now you had me digging through my cd collection and listening to "Heard It In A Love Song'! Next thing you know, I'll be getting my 6 string Takamine Jasmine out of her case! CR
  21. Inspired by the werewolf post. Anyone ever seen this rock and/or know its exact location? Thanks CR
  22. I play WoW (World of Warcraft), and to keep from bothering the ones around me, I have found some surround-sound 8-channel, over the ear headphones by Zalman that ROCK! I am not affiliated with this company, but I CAN tell you that for the price (around 80 bucks), they more than get the job done! CR (Also known as Wolkenlaufre, Warrior, or Usumbij - Night Elf Hunter on WoW
  23. Don't like to brag, but my Iltelligeince quoatia is in the dubble figgerz. CR
