  1. Then prepare to give them raises, it is factored in to the compensation package just as it is in the private sector. Nothing exists in a vacuum.
  2. It is absolutely considered part of their overall compensation package just as insurance, vacation and providing all other equipment. In most cases, same as with private business, an assigned work vehicle is valued more by the employee than what the actual cost is to the employer. It is a benefit that can offset a lower salary. Plus as El Zorro said above, there are plenty of fleet studies that show the benefits of assigned vehicles gives you a financial return in the end due to reduced maintenance and increased longevity.
  3. I wish she would have lived though just so I could have seen her sentence. It would have been massive.
  4. That argument really doesn't hold water considering virtually all the leadership of the city of Atlanta is black including the mayor, the elected district attorney and all of the prosecuting attorneys who were in the courtroom.
  5. Actually this was a 100% justified use of force which is why the department and the DA cleared him. The suspect was a fleeing felon who was armed and an obvious danger to the community. He needed to be stopped right then before he hurt someone. That authorized LE to use deadly force to apprehend him which could be from a gun or a car in this case. A car was a much better choice than walking into range for a gunfight. Over the course of the morning the guy had committed a store robbery, burglary of a church with an arson, a home invasion and car theft, dumped the car at a Walmart and st
  6. .....or maybe it is just a very different world out there that most pretend doesn't exist as they offer advice from the safety of their suburban home. A world where Andy and Barney can no longer survive because the criminals no longer resemble Otis Campbell. There are loads of people out there preying on others, using violence to further their criminal lifestyle and who are not afraid to use that same violence to avoid being held accountable. To act shocked that hostile situations may come to the very people we send to confront the worst in society is astounding. LE is tasked with arre
  7. It's mainly a soapbox for two people. Any new members are inundated by rambling nonsensical posts of exaggerated government oppression. They fill up the active topics page with threads that many times have no replies until they bump it to the top with their own reply. They aren't coming up with their own points, they are parroting some random unsubstantiated Youtube video and usually taking things way out of context. You would be led to believe that instead of this being a forum about the communities inside Paulding County it is some off kilter blog promoting far left beliefs, so far le
  8. The funniest thing is how blind some are due to partisan politics, it consumes their very being. I don't think I have ever been in a political debate on here yet I get labeled every time. Some here are so far left they don't understand many have liberal views and do not hate LE, many are conservative and are not racists. They make everything a partisan political issue because they are so infatuated. Too many live just to toe the party line and can't think on their own. That is only things that explains the race apologists that are coming to the forefront now. Someone told them how to fee
  9. We have lost more law enforcement officers right here in this country than soldiers on the battlefield since conflict started in Afghanistan. Same difference. If one stat 'shocks' you then so should the other. It should go a long way in showing what the true reality is, it isn't Mayberry.
  10. Stop with your false projections, the numbers I posted from GB encompass all sorts of line of duty deaths just as the American stats do. If you want to get particular only 6 of the LE deaths in GB since 2000 have been from shootings.....6 in 15 years. We had that many last month alone, March 2015. Police Officer Michael Johnson San Jose Police Department, CA EOW: Tuesday, March 24, 2015 Cause of Death: Gunfire Trooper Trevor Casper Wisconsin State Patrol, WI EOW: Tuesday, March 24, 2015 Cause of Death: Gunfire Police Officer Alex Yazzie Navajo Division of Public Safe
  11. Ok....and in that time frame the USA has lost 18,781 officers while GB lost 264. It is two different worlds.
  12. Thanks for pointing out I mislabeled my response, you will see the topic was a specific comparison with GB and the numbers I responded with are specific to GB. I later responded about the murder count specific to GB. I did not intend to mislead, I believe that is obvious.
  13. Nope, my mindset it we live in a much different place than Britain and to compare them gets you no where unless you are trying to blame American police for the violence in our country that they are tasked to confront. Anyway, why is pointing that out somehow a 'us vs them' statement. Do the number of LE killed in this country not matter? Great Britain also averages about 500 murders per year, we are always around 15k. It is a different world.
  14. Europe Great Britain has lost 24 police officers in the line of duty since the year 2000. We have lost 2,340.
  15. Just recycle them, all stores have a bin.
  16. Bravo!. I really didn't have time to reply to that long steaming pile of BS. As i said earlier the black race is simply imploding due to the actions of the young black men in their ranks. They are committing crime, especially violent crime, at a rate that is shocking to his country. No one is persecuting them over the color of their skin, they are simply seeing the result of their lawlessness. Look at the murder rate for example. Over half of those arrested or suspected for the crime of murder in this country are black, of those the vast majority are male and fall into the teen - l
  17. ...or maybe the Smyrna guys were the arrest team and Cobb was perimeter. I guarantee all 6 didn't stroll up in a group, that isn't how it is done.
  18. I have no idea what you are rambling about. Don't attack the cops, obey lawful orders and you have nothing to worry about.
  19. Not even remotely the case. Legally self defense also covers 3rd parties. If I am standing at the drivers window and I see the driver attempting to run over someone I am 100% justified in acting and putting rounds through that window to protect them. You don't have to stand there and watch him get Suge'd.
  20. That is nothing but a utopia. As long as will live in a world where people are willing to be violent towards others along with being violent to avoid being held accountable for criminal acts you will have confrontations that turn violent. It is the job society tasks LE with and not direct evidence of a failure.
  21. Not at all. I just choose to rely on the facts at hand and not those that have been skewed to support some agenda just like the "hands up don't shoot" BS. If an officer is proven to be in the wrong I will be the first one to call them out. The issue is none of these recent high profile incidents fall into that category. This one may, it is the first I have heard of it so I haven't had much time to research the facts but from what is posted it certainly leans towards something bad.
  22. The black community is imploding on itself right now, this is simply a by-product for those who want to excuse the behavior. Until there is a true grass roots movement from within to take ownership of these failures these scenarios will repeat. The young black male is the most violent thing this country has seen in many decades.
  23. Addressing the two final points: The witness interviewed on the news said he was driving backwards towards the officers. The main charges he was on probation for had nothing to do with traffic charges. He was convicted of aggravated assault on a police officer, felony eluding and reckless conduct so he would fall into the violent felon category.
  24. ....and why "unarmed". I think every reasonable person would classify a car as a weapon when they are trying to hit you with it. ....and why "traffic warrant" when it was actually a probation warrant on some violent felony charges. (unless you attempting to minimize the severity)
  25. Funny....the young black male witness interviewed by 11 Alive said when the officers approach he stole a customers car and drove off as they yelled at him to stop. He then stopped, changed direction and came right back at the same group of cops. He said they started shooting and "there wasn't much they could do". What is also funny is he has a history of this. He attempted to run over another officer on a traffic stop which led to a conviction for aggravated assault on a police officer along with a host of other charges. This was not the first time he reacted this way and he apparently le
