No discussion about the BOC creating a citizen oversight committee
rockster replied to LPPT's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yeah, I think it's a fly by audition for Biggest Loser and a very short term lease. BL has already posted auditions in Charlotte that only lasts less then a week, and they are doing these auditions in several cities. If the IBA is sugar coating this as a huge production for the movie studio, it's not!! -
Do a news story on the production and how it's paying down the debt on the movie studio

My opinion is Blake has been the fall guy all along with respect to the airport and movie studio. You have to admit he has been very involved within his position with both ventures that have been to date financial disasters with taxpayers money. Neither venue has produced any income nor jobs under his direction (which he is being paid a generous salary for). I can not absorb that a citizen committee will make a change if the concerned citizens need to be hand picked (if I understood that correctly) by a commissioner. Keep in mind this is political, and should be unbiased with any citizen o -
Nope! Due to confidential agreement. Although, Stephen King has been quoted "no one is safe" on season 2. Trust me on that!!!!!

So you are saying the studio and the office building has no one there onsite? So why is the County currently paying management fees to Roadtown Enterprises, much less the $527,383 rec'd from the initial 2011 IBA Bond for the Film Studio? I really wish it would work out, but it just seems to be a major drain financially due to poor planning and poor management. At this point they should just transfer it to the PCED and let them lease it out as industrial property that could gain full time employment for many. Bottom line, Paulding County had no business using taxpayers money to try to g

Well, fact is I am in the filming industry. Hell today I got to set before sunrise and didn't wrap until dark working on CBS Under the Dome in Southport,NC, about 40 miles from a well equipped studio (Screen Gems) that has the equipment for either offsite productions or either turn key onsite productions----or both with a couple of production crews. Correct me IF I am wrong, but the Hiram Studio is basically a studio shell that has no equipment on site, and most importantly is a bad sell to any production locations dept because of the stench. You hit the nail on the head...............
-
Actually, your statement is wrong. MANY areas in Georgia well outside the Atlanta region are reaping the benefits of the filming industry State wide!!! The problem with the Hiram Studio is it was a pipe dream from a couple of local commissioners and was not planned out. It is an ill equipped shell of a $5 million building (much less the ongoing operation costs), and the major factor is it sits next to a sewage treatment area. Seriously, the crap stench has absolutely no appeal to any production company. Kudos to Gwinnett, and other studios that were planned out well in advance to be able t

Can you post an aerial image of what you speak of? I didn't quite grasp from today's video what a couple of the AA were speaking about. It appeared the Austin Brothers were not in attendance

rockster replied to tundra's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Pubby, as far as your last paragraph I assume many of those opposed to the airport today are of some that had to accept into a General Aviation type airport that was built against voter participation. Keep in mind it was voted down because folks thought the taxpayers would be picking up the cost. Then, OMG...........free MONEY!!!! won't cost a damn thing to build, and frees the taxpayers up!!! Guess what...........the taxpayers HAVE been paying for it in O&M costs, plus who knows what. Economic development $$$$$$ should've been placed around the General Aviation airport instead of the -

legalities just on the tip of the fence. Legal, maybe if you have no ethics!!!! There is (IMO) a bunch of damn shame going on in PC. -
True as to no clue. Former Paulding County resident here. I just cannot believe that a general dynamics of the general population of PC would even know an airport is there in the county................much less some being non business folks to even consider an airport to manage.
-
Did Jerry let you vote on the airport? No one had the liberty to vote on it in 2004. Who built it? Construction workers!! Who was chairman when it first opened? Not Jerry as he used not only the unfinished airport as well as the unfinished administration building for his resume, ground breaking wif politicians. Who hired the airport manager? WHAT manager???

How To Attract New Businesses to Paulding County ?
rockster replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I would find it very difficult to land a manufacturing/industrial outfit to build in PC at this time. Give thanks to the current administration on the BOC, et el. The fiasco concerning the airport dealings that included many groups in PC only created a division within the community, not to mention people were lied to. -
Red Lobster brand has done very well over the years but coming to an end. Many, many years ago General Mills bought the small chain out for nothing but a tax deduction. They were amazed at the growth of a company that they anticipated could be a tax write off. The rest is history, the brand Red Lobster was a hit and grew profitable over 30 some years!

I am certain the video will be played on FB unedited. I would not call this collusion in my opinion. I believe things have been done within the BOC, IBA, PCAA that they knew they were walking a very thin line in legalities of their actions. You have to give credit to the folks that called fowl when the news came out about commercializing the airport. They had to resort to legal action to get answers, and it's turning in to alot of stuff coming out of the woodwork.

Do you know someplace to recycle plastic products?
rockster replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Inquire with your local American Legion if they have dumpsters for free drop off recyclables. They offer that here as well as Moose Lodge does.
