Good point, and I applaud the folks that took notice with the airport deal. Enough is enough, and I am certain those citizens standing up are very concerned about the community. You have a watchdog group out there that is growing that WILL be very knowledgeable not only on current issues, but future.
-
Did not know that tidbit. Very interesting as the plot thickens.
-
Spin it anyway you choose to do. I am not sold on it. I think it's a sour deal
-
Just my thinking. You have two groups..........opposition and proponents. So, either group has a say. Which is a great thing. Keep in mind it will take many months for the FAA to come up with a plan to evaluate, therefore any future discussion is basically mute, other than new issues. Election time....heads will roll, others will not seek another term......take the $$$ and run bunch of////// I believe as many others, let the PCED take a lead in a couple of venues to get a return on investment

Thanks for elaborating Tundra on what issue is being taken up at this hearing. I find it quite interesting that three PC judges recused themselves. UMPH

Drinking jet fuel not advised; however cooking with it ...

I find it odd I can't find the outcome of the OSHA investigation from the high wind damage prior to the tornado damage at the airport that caused the fuel spillage and heavy damage to airplanes. -
Has there been any concrete talk that the FAA will fund future development from their initial contribution? From what I have educated myself, it's an assumption the FAA might even consider a 90-95% reimbursement, BUT it is NOT a sure thing. If the FAA does not contribute the people of Paulding County will be on the hook from what current construction is going on now. Given the fact that PCAA wants to spend millions on the "assumption" of FAA reimbursement that is unknown, and due to the fact the FAA backed down from a lawsuit and instead went for a settlement for further review...........speak

I really hope Blake has some positive news today concerning the studio. If not, I'm with you. Sell it off and or convert it. Hey Austin said at the groundbreaking if it didn't profit, sell it!!!! Hey......40,000 sq ft for commercial cold storage (additional cooling needed, but should be well insulated). Dry storage and loading docks adjacent. Binjo

If any??? The last numbers I saw on this was amazing that is being spent for a non performing/vacant venue. ALTHOUGH, spreadsheet reports salaries/commissions paid (June-Nov,2013). And for what?
-
YES. Taxpayers are paying for it, plus the management fee on something the taxpayers are on the hook for. SOUND FAMILIAR??
-
Thank you.

My mistake then. You have to admit it is confusing to some as which entity is responsible for some things. Does Blake not hold a couple Director roles in a couple of sister companies of the BOC? I was amazed at a couple of other posters earlier that believed the studio was a privately owned and operated venture, not a county owned and maintained venture. Jamie, I applaud your response and involvement. Can you give me some insight. What is the difference between the IBA and PCED?
-
I was called out to who "actually" operates it. I am confused which Paulding County entity actually has the oversight with the contract for RoadTown. Is it the parent company known as the BOC, which let the IBA purchase and use bonds to construct it whereas they exhausted the $5 million bond up to 6-30-2012, and since the PCED has picked up the enormous operating costs?

I think all can agree with that. JOBS. But, show the people the jobs and not just failed attempts. Bring up the recession as a failure for the airport. PFFT, folks didn't want it in the first place but yet had very challenging at home issues trying to keep a float to make ends meet, and not being taxed on a playground the elite wanted. And for the money pit movie studio..........who ever had that idea should be sent packing out the door. People need jobs, not failed promises and expenditures the leaders of the county deemed needed for growth. Hell, in the video Tommie was promoting the studio
-
I'll be happy to share some info in about an hour when I get home. You may be amazed at $$$$ spent on this venture
-
RoadTown collects a management fee (for what?). ALL operating, maint., property taxes expenses are paid by IBA.....or bottom line...taxpayers
-
The county owns the movie studio
-
Which some have posted, welcome to the real world. I sadly have no pity on your situation. I hope for the best for you and yours, but YOU are not alone in feeling major issues with health care costs.
-
PROFITS?? YIPPEE!!! Please give details.
-
Awesome.I believe it would be great for both pro and con to address issues. Keep it civil, healthy community involvement
-
They put the cart before the horse, or better yet screwed up once again playing with taxpayer $$$$. Maybe it's a good facility for making commercials or a soap opera, BUT no where near being a movie studio. Georgia had $3.3 BILLION in state in the filming industry 2013, and the Hiram location sits vacant while the taxpayers pick up the operating costs.............for a failed venture. Go back and look, even David Austin was really positive at the groundbreaking saying if it does not do well, we can sell it! Well....................

I applaud the leadership of Bethany to continue the use of their facility for the community. Speaks volumes they don't let "some" either try to intimidate and/or spin the facts.
-
Good points you speak of honestly. Then again I doubt any industry will be looking at PC due to their non performing failures. Think about it, why keep putting more money into a couple of ventures that have yet to turn a profit. SINK, run!!! Seriously, the airport for example. Folks voted it down not to fund it. How's that working for the taxpayers?
