I don't think it's so much of a "sudden concern" as much as it is a shocking decision. If you have officers that can not even pass a written test, just imagine how their police reports will sound to the jury when read in open court. If anyone is lowering standards, it most certainly should not be a law enforcement agency, I don't care where in the country it is located. You think the public is concerned about incompetent LEOs now? Just wait till these clowns make a few arrests.

Very well said. From what I understand, their polygraph consists of wrapping coat hangers around the applicant with two pencils attahced to the ends that scribble on a piece of typing paper.

I don't think it will even make a difference. You can't even get in that department without having an "IN" with someone or being related to a current employee.
