  2. I just wanted to thank you guys for providing such excellent food and service for my family. We always make it a point to visit every two weeks for a nice lunch, and it's always a pleasure to support wonderful local businesses like yours. All the best!
  3. They were saying that the Kodaks won't work on computers unless you have the easyshare software. Would you happen to have it?
  4. Well, after seven years of healthy use, my digital camera has finally succumbed to the fangs that are planned obsolescence. I need a new one. Does anyone have one they aren't using or planning to sell at some point?
  5. There was a 50 mph head on collision that took place near Poplar Springs Rd. and Macland Rd. earlier this morning. It's my understanding that a fellow in a Mazda Tribute may have been on his cell phone and apparently swerved into the other lane where a Lincoln Town Car was hit in an offset manner (roughly quarter panel to headlight on opposite sides). This is a far more lethal impact for most vehicles since the energy of the impact only gets channeled into a small portion of the vehicle instead of the entire frame and body structure. The driver in the Lincoln Town Car was an elderly l
  6. I would encourage a greater opportunity to work from home. If folks could start out a new business from home with minimal expenses, it may enable them to create the jobs that Paulding needs for their tax base. The county is performing a solid job of attracting businesses from outside the county. The pursuit of improving home occupancy rates and grassroots job creation is where the county has yet to fully tap it's true potential.
  7. BL- You can limit the number of customers through establishing laws that take into account how many cars can park on a driveway and by also limiting how many can park in the street. Example: The friend of mine I spoke about earlier has an auto repair business down the street from him that also is used as a home residence. They can have five vehicles at their place of business and they ALL have to fit on the driveway. That number also includes the vehicles that they own. In otherwords, they have to start small and remain manageable in accordance with the law. My friend also has a viol
  8. To be honest, it wouldn't bother me a bit. I would love to know that my neighbor can make a good, honest living without having to pay $$$ for the privilege of renting out a work space. Heck where I grew up, the little old lady down the road from me was the one with the nursery at her home. The lady who lives diagonally from me still has customers come to her home for haircuts. I don't see the issue. Maybe you keep that colorful playground equipment behind the fence and limit the signage. There is always an intelligent way to handling these types of issues.
  9. Every county likes to encourage business development, while keeping an eye on quality of life issues as well. I am not sure how Paulding compares with Cobb County on this issue. However, while I was reading this article... http://mdjonline.com/view/full_story/23037027/article-Zoning-change-put-on-ice--Rezoning-would-allow-for-local-breweries--distilleries?instance=home_lead_story I couldn't help but think about how a lot of folks would like to work from their home as they start their own business. I have a friend of mine who lives out in Eugene, Oregon. Apparently, they have dual u
  10. I take the family out once to twice a week. A mom & pop we'll always order lunch and pay full price. We L-O-V-E supporting local businesses. On the flip side we always have a coupon for a chain restaurant and often times, I'll combine that with trivia winnings from the week before to make the entire cost a matter of paying a 20% tip on what would have been the normal price. The only vice we have at home food wise is coffee. Everything else we buy are pretty much essentials. Our family is one of those types that would gladly pay plenty of money for good local music. But we'll also
  11. Simple foods. Lots of small snacks. There are also certain supermarkets where the specific types of food will be far cheaper than other places. I will confess that sometimes I have the Aldi's burritos for a 2 burrito lunch. That cost about 70 cents plus about 10 cents for the salsa.
  12. My family buys very specific items. Most of which are either scratch ingredients, fruits and veggies, store brands, or poultry. Kroger brand tends to offer the most affordable store brands. They also have clearance items at specific times of the week. If you time it right, you can get a roasted chicken on clearance for only $3.59. We always use the chicken on the same day we buy it and spread the meals out during the week. Aldi has great prices on bananas, apples, potatoes, strawberries, onions, beans, milk, and pesto. Costco has the best prices on organic carrots (they taste far b
  13. Thank you very much! Likewise, I appreciate the attention you are giving to both sides of the debate. This isn't an "us vs. them" contest. It's a collective pursuit of a happy medium that will hopefully allow us to focus on more important things in this world. Oh, and before I forget, I'll be bringing my big screen TV to your front yard at 8 P.M. along with a few high end headphones for our prime time movie. Please make sure to bring the mega popcorn popper with the built in 2400 watt speaker system that plays non-stop circus music. The neighbors love that. All the best!
  14. I can see this as an issue if you want to sell a house on the same street or if there is a health concern. Heck, I also think loud music, gunfire and other disruptive behaviors should be tackled head on as well. But as for general trashiness, they own the property and should have the right to use it in a way they deem comfortable for their lifestyle. I don't fault my neighbor for infrequently mowing his lawn or for having his business vehicle on the driveway. It's his private property on both counts. If his conduct lowers the value of my own property when it comes time for me to sell,
  15. Oh for cryin' out loud. Read the comments that follow the article! That's where you get a better understanding of the story.
  16. As with nearly all things that make it to the mainstream media, we are only given a small part of the story. "But they have been physically and mentally abused as have their mother, they were removed for numerous reasons including meth use, unemployment, violence, threatening the life of the mother and an altercation that he had with a baker a few years ago over a birthday cake. There isn't a judge in the country who will give this guy custody and his little stunt today will probably end up denying him visitation because he is too mentally unstable to be trusted with a child and he is cert

  18. Ebay. But I will be brutally blunt with you. Unless you have a ton of cards from 1975 and before, and unless a lot of those cards contain hall of famers, your collection is worth maybe 1% of what Beckett assumes in the free market. I have collected over 30,000 baseball cards and most of them were sold for cash during the 1980's. I had a tendency to sell tons of commons for rookies, all-stars and hall of famers at a time when folks were willing to pay $350 for a Pete Rose rookie card and $500 for a 61' Maris. Those days are done. You now have an heirloom. Unless there is something
  19. I wouldn't mind having this become a policy at Paulding County schools for juveniles and adults. It's one thing to be disagreeable and even passionate about it. It's quite another to be obnoxious and foul-mouthed to a teacher. http://www.mdjonline.com/view/full_story/22665031/article-Warrant--Osbourne-student-charged--removed-for-being-%E2%80%98disruptive-?instance=special%20_coverage_right_column Yes, there is a red line between freedom of speech and the criminal acts of harassment and obscenity. So what do you think? Should this become a precedent for addressing this type o
  20. I remember that my old PS zip code was 30073 back in 96' and 97'. All of a sudden, we became 30127 and apparently there was some strangeness that went on with our insurance rates. Apparently, they had assumed that we moved to the College Park area and wanted to raise our rates due to the increased crime and traffic. After I explained the zip code transfer they cooled their heels a bit. As for PS vs. Hiram... with the exception of the legalized theft cartels that are the city governments for both towns, the two unincorporated areas are pretty much the same.
  21. I can also heartily endorse Glenn's great work. I now have a Honda that I think may last me 20 years thanks to him. He not only fixed it, but added a better blade and other improvements as well. He's a great businessman. I recommend him highly.
  22. The reverse of this... http://www.break.com/index/insurance-scam-fail-2194267/ Far more common overseas than in the USA
  23. My wife was headed out of the Dollar Ge and was about to pull her car out in reverse. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone duck behind her car. My wife honked her horn. The scammer got up and pretended like she had just found a cell phone. The lady said, "Does this belong to you?" Be very careful out there folks. A variation of this scam has been commonplace in Russia for well over a decade now.
  24. This just further proves that you're a commie But seriously, why sell your car? "It's time" doesn't cut it on a vehicle that is less than 10 years old. Let's discuss! Who knows. I may be enjoy this babbling brook of random irrational thoughts given all the rain coming our way.
