One of the things in life that has always bothered me is the long wireless carrier's message when the phone is not answered. Call HP, explain the situation and see if they will send you a battery for free. Ask to speak to a supervisor if the person that answers is not able to help you.

It's probably not the battery unless the battery itself is extremely hot. Assuming that nothing is blocking the air inlets and outlets, one thing you could try is blowing it out with some canned air. Is the fan running?
