  1. Give Dallas Family Counseling a call: 110 Evans Mill Dr # 305 Dallas, GA 30157-1623 (770) 445-6358
  2. ...from pcom, facebook, email and other similar web stuff. Go here.
  3. The SanDisk SlotRadio MP3 player is clearly not for everyone as it does have some playback limitations. However, I think it would make a great solution for those without a computer or for anyone who does not want to go through the hassle of downloading songs. For $100 (which includes 1000 songs) I think this is a bargain. Read a review here. The manufacturer's site is here.
  4. I am not aware of any data that indicates that one brand is better than another. I have a memorex that died after 9 months and a Sandisk that still works fine after 2 years.
  5. This is really a neat suite. It's like having your own computer with you all the time. You do not need to install the applications on a computer as they run on your thumb drive. Learn more about it here: portableapps.com
  6. How much memory does your computer have?
  7. Phone books come in handy in the winter when the electricity is out. You can look up the number of the electric company and after you call, burn the books to stay warm.
  8. I actually think that this new policy is detrimental to what the SEC wants to accomplish. If anything, someone reading a twitter post about a game would be encouraged to tune in. I really do not think the old media folks grasp the concept of the new media. Don't you dare tell someone who won the football game or the SEC lawyers may be coming after you! Rest here.
  9. You buy the plane ticket and I'll come.
  10. Computer fans use very little power. The power supply has a built in fan and there will also be one or more fans in the computer. There should be one fan on top of the processor or on the back of the computer with ducting to the processor. To "blow out" the system: 1. Purchase a can of canned air and a small soft bristled paintbrush. 2. Unplug all of the wires to the computer and take the computer outside. 3. Remove the cover to gain access to the inside of the computer. 4. Use the canned air to deliver short burst of air to the dirty areas. (Do not turn the can upside down or it wi
  11. That's great. At least we do not have to dress up like cows this time.
  12. OpenDNS provides free web content filtering and gives you the power to block up to 50 categories of content. This will help protect your kids from questionable sites. Check it out here.
  13. Microsoft is offering the next version of Windows (Windows 7) for free until this Thursday, August 20. It is called a "Release Candidate" (RC) and some of the limitations are: I do not recommend installing this on your primary machine, but if you have one sitting in a closet, this would make an excellent test machine. The system requirements are listed on the linked page. Get it here.
  14. I think it is great to do a local backup as well. However, if your house burns down you have still lost your data. You also want to make sure you are really making a backup. A backup means a duplicate of data that is also on another drive. If the data only resides on one external drive it is not a backup as it is the only copy.
  15. It is out there for developers-lots of bugs and not full featured. Maybe by the end of the year?
  16. I do not really like the way it handles bookmarks and search within a page, but other than that I like it.
  17. Oops. Not sure how that "0" found its way in there. Thanks for the correction.
  18. Outlook Express has basically been abandoned by Microsoft and Thunderbird is an excellent replacement. I usually recommend web mail for most of my customers because their mail is stored on the web instead of their computer. This eliminates the loss of data should the hard drive die.
  19. I have been a Firefox web browser user for years. I absolutely love it except that it is a real memory pig. For the past few days I have been using Google Chrome for a browser and I am really impressed so far. You can give it a test drive here.
  20. Mozy gives you 20 GB for free - not sure of pricing after that. You can check it out at Mozy.com. Carbonite is a flat $55 per year with unlimited backup.
  21. If you still need help, give me a call tomorrow. Mike 404-939-5025
