  1. Awesome book! My son and I have read it together several times. I do not blame video games, I blame parents who let their kids sit and just play video games and I blame a crazy evil world which keeps our children from exploring the way many of us did in the past.
  2. I am an overprotective parent and proud of it. As a kid I rode my bike without a helmet,, etc...and I hung out with my friends in the n'hood all day long as well. At least until the day a man trapped my friend and I in a corner of our n'hood that was wooded and...well we won't go there. This was 25 years ago....nowadays, no way in HELL I am letting my kids out to run around the n'hood and take a chance some nutjob is just waiting for his chance! I do not understand why folks think, well because I survived it, my child will as well! Sometimes the ways of the old days were NOT better...just
  3. I love that scratchy voice singing....good song choice, but not as good as last week. And I agree...he is a hottie.
  4. I think Toderick needs to go home. He was awful last week as well as this week. I think sometimes the judges are very harsh on those they expect to do really well....like Andrew GArcia...I think they have high expectations for him and so they ride him hard to try and get him ready to move on...if that makes sense. Remember, the first couple of weeks are usually pretty bad due to the newness and nervousness of the contestants. I like Lee. I hope that he moves forward and rocks it tonight. He reminds me of the kids I teach...a good kid who had trouble growing up. I LOVE his voice.
  5. Wow, Tim is much better than last week...he still has no chance to win, but he was better than last week. Better than a couple of them tonight as well. He may last another week.
  6. David Archuletta...but to me this difference is David Archuletta has a ready voice for recording. He is good in concert and he was prepared for that world. I do not think Aaron is and I see him getting swallowed up and spit out right now in the industry.
  7. I am just not getting it with Aaron. He is a good singer, but he just does not have that FEEL to him. He is a cutie, but I think another year of growth would have been better for him.
  8. That's Alex. He does have a mullet. Ellen has commented on it every time she sees him. He was SOOOO much better this week.
  9. Alex did a lot better tonight. I kind of like him, so I was glad to see him progressing.
  10. Too much communication is MUCH better than too little communication. Watch what you wish for, you may get it and then you guys can come on here and fuss some more about that.
  11. Oh good grief.....they called it quickly enough today. No one knew it was going to get like this today. Those same parents are probably the same ones who if they had called school this morning and it had not snowed, they would be on the news screaming about that!
  12. This chick is jealous of her brother and the relationship he has with the father. She seems like a biatch to me and is just mad she is losing the money from him. My take on it.....my mom and dad cannot take it with them and so they need to spend it any way they see fit while they are alive. It is THEIR money they have earned. My hubby and I earn our own money!
  13. It is not melting at all at my house in New Hope. My guess is no school due to the roads icing tonight, it is going to be 25 degrees after dark. The back roads are already treacherous while the ones more traveled are still OK. Remember, if the buses cannot run safely, they will call school.
  14. Hubby and I are looking to go to Asheville in April for our anniversary. Would like to stay at a B and B there or near there. Any suggestions to stay or not to stay? Thanks ahead of time.
  15. Thank you all for the feedback. It is much appreciated. I think we may pass and try to go over to NC for a day or two instead. Seems like it could be a fun trip.
  16. It did. I got one as well even though my child is not attending either. He sent it out to the entire school population. Oh, and you are very welcome.
  17. If you have been, is it worth it? Fun or just pure chaos? Thinking about taking the kiddos this week and just wondered if anyone else had been and what they thought about it. Thanks
  18. Mr. Viness did a call last night concerning the Intersession. He also announced it Friday afternoon to all of the students before they were dismissed. If you did not receive the call, it is because you number is not correct in the system. The call went out to all of the students, so even those not participating in Intersession got the call. Intersession is a time period for recovery of failing grades. Students are allowed to come during their break and recover a class they failed. The recovery takes place using an online academic program which provides feedback and confirmation of the stu
  19. East Paulding High School Intersession scheduled to begin tomorrow (Monday)will now begin Tuesday instead. There will be NO Intersession tomorrow at East. Intersession will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the same times. I do not know about the other schools, a friend of mine from East asked me to post this here. Thanks
  20. The news just showed Paulding is included in the Winter Storm Watch and is looking at 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow! HOLY CRAP. Glad it is winter break and the kids are out of school.
  21. Carroll COunty has since changed to be closed, only 12 month employees report according to the news just now.
  22. m WOW, just WOW! Wonder how you felt about the school building back in the 50-60's when only the black children went there. Was it a school for "bad" kids then????? And just FYI...the kids that attend there now are not "BAD" kids...they are kids with autism and severe emotional disturbances.....but then hey...guess they deserve to be there based on your statement, huh?
  23. That is the Matthews building. It was originally the school for African American students in Paulding County....many, many moons ago. It was the alternative school building until Paulding started using Ombudsman for their alternative program. It is now used to house several folks who work for the Central Office as well as the school to serve severe special needs populations...those students who cannot function in a general school building. It is old, yes, but it is not nasty. They take care of it as well as the kids who attend school there. The fence has been in place for many years and it is
