  1. By law, an education SPLOST can be used only for certain capital projects that support local schools. SPLOST funds can pay for school construction, technology, and new school buses, but cannot be used for the day-to- day operational expenses of a school system, including salaries and to offset budget cuts. http://www.sgrlaw.com/resources/briefings/bond_practice/446/ This reviews the law regarding the ESPLOST. It cannot be used on text books, only on capital building improvements.
  2. The actual application was only posted yesterday - it was approved March 30, but the county had to get the process together for those applicants. While the bill passed March 30, the actual online application was only posted yesterday. The county had posted that the application was coming - I just wanted to put the process out there now that it is in place.
  3. I am not looking for debate or discussion - the bill has passed and the process has been set by the county. I know there are several on here with family members and/or friends impacted by this. Students who did not receive a regular education diploma due to not passing the GHSGT in ANY subject, can now petition to get their diploma.....see the link below. This goes back for ALL years the GHSGT was in place - as well as the Basic Skills Test which was in place before that. http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/News/22404#sthash.qxztzNA4.dpbs
  4. We had the exact same thing happen here - three TV's at one time - never would have thought it was a cable issue with the sound - but they hit a signal reset and it fixed them all.
  5. Thank you Kim. I truly do appreciate your openess with the citizens of Paulding County.
  6. So Kim, While it is appreciated you are coming on here, can I ask how accurate your information is? Please see below the RFP for outsourcing and the second PDF contains MANY custodial items for sale - so if this is just a proposal, why is the district selling off custodial equipment? As an employee in PCSD, I am concerned regarding this proposal. I am also a Paulding citizen and tax payer and I understand and appreciate the need to be fiscally responsible. However, it is unclear how outsourcing will truly beneift our district. The schools require MUCH upkeep and many duties are performed

  8. Rest in Peace Ms. Amanda - your Dance Fever family loves you and will miss you tremendously. Prayers to your family, especially your two beautiful children
  9. The writing test is taken in October of their junior year. They will have a total of five opportunities to pass it before graduation time rolls around. Fall, Spring, Summer of Junior year and Fall, Spring of their senior year.
  10. They fed them at Hiram High School. The cafeteria folks got to work and started serving lunches at 10:30 AM in order to give all the kids the opportunity to eat before they left. Thank goodness they did, some of the kids were on the buses for hours before they got home. !
  11. We have the Chromecast and have been using it for over a month. We love it. Great to access NEtflix, Youtube, etc. We use our phone as the remote and it is simple to use. Daughter now wants one for the TV in her room.
  12. Love this show. Have last nights on DVR and can't wait to watch. One of the best shows on TV.
  13. I saw it on Perez Hilton as well. I don't think this is one of those hoaxes. Makes me sad, such a horrible way to die.
  14. On April 1st, the Chick-fil-A in Dallas is holding a fundraiser for little Tripp. I will post closer to time as well as a reminder, but I love that Chik-fil-A's all around GA have done this for this family. Such a great community aspect of their business.
  15. About 6:ooish. When we left at 6:30 there were four or five Hiram police cars and a couple of Paulding deputies there as well.
  16. So, want to hear some Paulding news???? Yesterday evening, early evening, at a birthday party at Sparkles in Hiram, there was a fight. Not a big deal you say? Well, except it was two grown women fighting in front of their kids and MY kid. The poor teenager who was trying to break them up was getting hit as well! TWO GROWN WOMEN! Before you ask, neither one had been drinking from what we could tell. They were both with big groups there (two different ones). It was ridiculous! I just cant imagine in front of the kids!
  17. I can say this....there is an extreme shortage of drivers lately (and may get worse once the Jan. paycheck with the insurance hikes comes out). There are numerous bus splits every day due to driver's being out and there being no subs available to drive the routes. It is frustrating, but I can say without a doubt that the drivers are doing the best they can. When there is a split, the buses pick up their route plus some of the split route, so it will run late. There is no way around it. The kids do need to be at their stops on time, because if the bus is running on time (or late) and EVERY
  18. Yes you can port your number over. Took about ten minutes for it to change over and it was all set. I bought an unlocked HTC Vivid from EBay and used it to put the SIM card in. No problems whatsoever.
  19. We use the AT&T and no issues
  20. We have been using it for 6 months. Very happy with it and it cut our phone bills by over half. I highly recommend the service.
  21. He had been arrested for stalking and harassment of the ex-wife, so there were definitely legal grounds to be more strict/forceful on his consequences. It is very clear that stalking/harassment often leads to violence and there was no doubt this man had threatened her multple times. The judge did not do her duty to the citizens of the county in any form or fashion.
  22. Aww, go suck on a lemon CC.
  23. I agree.....he is awesome. I enjoy listening to him sing, he has that true country voice.
  24. We changed our landline to Ooma over a year ago. We are happy and will never look back. We went to Straight Talk for our cell phones and between the two, save over 100 bucks a month from what we were paying. Ooma works great, costs about 9 bucks a month, has caller ID, lets us make long distance calls, and let us port our number over. ooma
