PCSO Accidental Shooting Leads to Death of Child
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
Thanks for making my point. When you have 100 families; you might find that 100 percent are responsible. When you have 40 million families ... even if 99.99 percent are responsible ... you have thousands deaths and injuries. It is a matter of numbers and perfection eludes us all. It is just that with guns, the death is the price of imperfection. The policy of guns everywhere insures to us all that tragedies like that which happened will be with us ... and the more guns the more tragedies. pubby -
PCSO Accidental Shooting Leads to Death of Child

Not lost ... just not human. My best friend when I was 12 was also raised in a house with both hunting guns and pistols. We had structured training about guns. We were in a shooting club. There were strict rules. Unfortunately, folks ... rule and laws only advise and guide proper behavior. It is a percentage thing. Out of 10,000 kids properly trained to not fool with daddy's pearl handled 38; one was destined to pick it up and twirl it like one of the matinee cowboys and plug himself in the heart by accident. Stupid, crazy but statistically it was going to happen. The differ -

PCSO Accidental Shooting Leads to Death of Child

From the SO release, they wanted to let the family go through the funeral for the child before conducting the more intense questioning. That would suggest to me that they have a problem with a gun going off by being dropped as well. I do remember back about 20 years ago, one of the ... I want to say Burger Market (I may be wrong) daughters died when her boyfriend - a jailer at the PCSO - allegedly dropped a gun and it too went off and killed her. He should be getting out of prison about now. pubby -
PCSO Accidental Shooting Leads to Death of Child

Obviously you folks never lived in a city where an automobile was a luxury that cost more to park a month than for an apartment. The reality is that different places require different tools/accouterments and rural and suburban life, at present, would be impossible without the automobile. Still, as population densities increase, the need and dangers posed by automobiles - and I'm not talking just wrecks but interactions with pedestrians, pollution, etc. are all problems that, with increased population have to be addressed. For instance, those who lived initially on GA 120 in east Pauld -

Actually, we should limit automobiles. Public transportation is much more efficient and has fewer carbon emissions. pubby -
PCSO Accidental Shooting Leads to Death of Child

Low .. Think of it this way. First, a certain percentage of the people are, as you surmise, irresponsible. What is particularly troubling is that many of those who are irresponsible feel the need for a gun. If guns were less available and not 'popular' ... wow, that's a cool gun; lemme see ... there would be fewer accidents. It is inevitable that if you have too many of a thing ... ants, roaches, spiders, snakes, deer, trees, etc. etc. accidents involving them are going to happen. That is logic. Hell, too many raindrops and you have a flood. pubby -

there are over 300,000.000 guns in the hands of citizens ... a little over one-per-person ... so it is hard to not be around a gun in this day and time. Said a bit differently, there are too damn many guns. pubby -

Oh, I see, black is white. There was a US general saying that we had trained exactly five moderate Syrian rebels less than two weeks ago (at a cost of $500 million, BTW) and here Fox is claiming the soviets killed 150??? You do know that Syria was and has been allied with the Russians going back to the Soviet Union days. Sounds to me like Fox is dishing out more bull cheese and you're a cheese head. pubby -
State Rep. Micah Gravely is one of the prime sponsors of the bill legalizing the cannabis oil and has worked with families that are getting this. You might call him and ask for some help/direction on how to obtain the prescription and medicine. pubby

Mei Lan : It is all about the tools. Never was much of a ditch digger and on a property with as many trees, the idea of digging a ditch for a water line (property had a shallow well about 15 feet from a septic tank - yuk) was daunting with hand tools. The bobcat came in handy in this context as well. Got a trencher attachment and while it was an all day job to dig a 485-foot trench 18-inches deep. I'm still working on the property so while my weekly rental is over Wednesday I'm thinking that I could use the bobcat another week. pubby

Mei Lan: Whitey was talking about the 2012 election. Whitey: I'd like to see the letter as well. BTW: I'm of the opinion that key folks like Cousins, Jones and Temple Inland have been supporting the county for a major airport since they sold the city of Atlanta the land back in 1975. I think, given some of the decisions made earlier in regard to the weight-bearing capacity of the runway and other aspects of the construction at the airport; there was, the plan was to go this route before David Austin was elected the first time. Many in the business community have favored a

I do want to thank the folks who did respond on topic. We took out the walls and now we have a room that is about 14 by 36 ... Now if we can just get someone who knows how to engineer the support beam in the attso we can open up the structural wall ... I'll be really happy. pubby

Starting some demolition on some walls in this old frame ranch house I ended up with. Took down some of the paneling - the guy who built the house was using long nails and thick plywood paneling - this stuff is not flimsy at all. Anyway, one of the walls I want to take out doesn't seem to be a load bearing wall but dang if it is almost built like one. Was up in the attic and saw what looks like a beam that runs the length of the house but seems to be there to possibly support a second floor. (In the rough sketch below, it would be the "L" shaped beam) I'm wanting to remove t

It is kind of empowering for sure. The bad thing is that the property I got needs it so much of it ... I'm afraid I'll be tired of it before the job is done. That's for sure ... however, I'm wondering how many thought that running pcom wasn't just that Kind of feels like it running through the underbrush ... yep, I making tunnels. Yep, I'm even within walking distance to New Georgia ball field ... well almost. I'm glad you are so enthusiastic pubby

Ten lousy threads... That does sound bad but it was a weekend and besides, It is not as pitiful as you might imagine. Sure it is not like the old days where there were 90 or so active topics every day and 2500 posts, but it is not absolutely dead There are, at present 18 active topics and about 100 new posts a day. That is far cry of where it was. But don't count us out. We're not going anywhere. I take that back. We will be moving the office but we'll be online for the foreseeable future. Heck, once I get moved and settled in, I might even start attending meetings again

Pubby here: Having fun ... but not exactly kicking back. Those driving on Villa Rica highway may have noticed a Pcom banner appearing on some trees on the east side in New Georgia. My wife and I found a piece of property there that we sank some money into even though it needs massive renovation and cleanup. Since it is an eight + acre parcel, there is plenty of clean up. Speaking of cleanup, I've not had as much fun as I have in the last couple of days. So how does working like a dog translate into fun? Simple: Rented a bobcat. pubby

What's funny Whitey is that Delta pulls the chains with the powers that be at the City of Atlanta. The city of Atlanta it would appear is also in on the deal and they have more than just the wishes of Delta in mind as well. If you read the contract closely, the city has not been able to use the land they own in Paulding for anything but a major airport. That will change in 2020 and they will be able to use it/sell it for virtually any use. That is why the rezoning gig a few months ago. All I'll say Whitey is that you are against this airport because the city of Atlanta did suc

You'd have to outlaw old-tech hand guns ... and they'd either be traded in for a high-tech, be bought in buyback programs, be lost or go underground. Those 'bought and sold' on the black market would become evidence of that crime and would be confiscated and destroyed over time. You wouldn't go door to door confiscating old tech but the weapons would be subject to confiscation if carried (openly or concealed) and doing so with old tech would after five or so years, become a crime. I.e. if you're carrying one of the old-tech guns, you are by definition a criminal. Of course some clas
