NASA: Mass gains of the Antarctic ice sheet exceed losses
gpatt0n replied to Jamie Weaver's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Most democrats could give a rats ass about the social issues you cite. I've yet to run across a straight democrat whose reaction to gays is anything more than ... it ain't nobody's business but your own. Same about aboortzion, family leave, minimum wage, recreational drug use and whether or not you go to church on Sunday morning. Republicans, on the other hand, are notorious for their rigid proscribed attitudes on those same topics and tend to get their preachers hitting the party line from the pulpit to condemn such Godless acts by the heathens and the only way to avoid instant immol -
NASA: Mass gains of the Antarctic ice sheet exceed losses

GD: I didn't mention politics one time. I asked honest questions and got bullcheese in return. Figures. Just know that your efforts to baffle us with bull cheese ultimately stinks. And for you to think of yourself as a concerned sportsman interested in the environment is the height of self-delusion. Keep drinking the koolaid ... ultimately it will kill you. pubby -
NASA: Mass gains of the Antarctic ice sheet exceed losses

GD, dogs, zorro, goga8tors ... You all claim that mankind has no impact on climate change. This is made as a statement of belief and fact. First, do you believe there is such a thing as climate change? If no, skip the rest of the questions. If yes, Logically, the fact that you believe climate can change, I'll ask how is that change affected? For instance, do you believe that some gases in the atmosphere act in such a way as to trap solar energy (heat) in the atmosphere? Yes or no? If no, please explain. Next Question: Do you believe if you doubled the concentrati -
Driving down Highway 61 is not exponentially more dangerous. I think the death rate on the highways ... which involves a lot more people than guns ... is about the same overall as death by a gun. Considering that you spend a tremendously greater time behind the wheel going places than you do handling guns ... guns are exponentially more dangerous than driving ... and you know that. pubby

Actually, Jamie ... the proper way to write the equation 591/32,351 is 1.8% which is 100 times larger than .018 per cent. The second thread in the conversation related to perceptions and trust, etc. I'm going to reiterate my point of view which is that the problem these days is perception. Guns are tools and very few people, for instance, oooh and aahh over a pair of pliers, screwdriver or socket wrench. These are useful items when you are doing certain tasks but few folks cream all over themselves because they got a new hammer. What is different about a gun, which is a tool, is

You folks miss the point of the article. That point was the climate models suggested and they applied a certain percentage of the observed rise in the sea level to melting in Antarctica and they were wrong. That begs the question about what other area is contributing the additional water to the seas? What part of the arctic is melting faster than anticipated? The second obvious point of the article is that the fact of global climate change is not questioned ... and this expansion of knowledge gives us more understanding of the complexity of the forces at work. And of course t -
That is a fact based in part on the TV media which, in the pursuit of ratings, discovered that if it 'bleeds it leads' raises ratings. Combine that with the proliferation of cop shows on TV has created the impression that crime is much more rampant and common than it actually is. The 'fear' associated with that misperception has been exploited by politicians to gain election by promising things like two-strikes and you're out, mandatory minimum laws and all that funded by the incarceration industry that includes cops, lawyers, private prisons, etc. pubby

Actually, most folks considered Everett Dirksen (Dirksen Senate Office Bldg was named after him) R-Ill a statesman. And the quote was close ... except he was talking millions not billions. pubby PS: Another Dirksen quote: "I am a man of fixed and unbending principles, the first of which is to be flexible at all times."

North of Pine Shadows Road and south of Jane Harris with access on both Villa Rica Highway and Jane Harris Rd. If you're driving on Villa Rica Highway north from the New Georgia ball field, you'll see a Pcom banner tied on the trees out front at the top of the hill. There is also a Dallas Metal Products sign out front that Jody Cash put there to direct his crew to the roof job (we got dried in with a new metal roof finished yesterday.) The house (and for that matter the property) was a mess that we picked up 'as-is' and we've got a lot of work yet to do. The best news is that we now

Paulding.com is moving on up ... to New Georgia. While the digs aren't really ready yet, we do have a new steel roof and county water to go with our eight-plus acres. All good things must come to an end and the current pcom office will be officially history by midnight on Halloween. Boo pubby

Updated Model for Climate Shows that CO2 Contribution is Much Lower

Bluster my butt ... You sucked on too many 1970's Mopar tailpipes ... and the leaded gas got to you. Your view of the world has been poisoned by the lead in the gas from the classic cars you love. The dumb disease got the Fonz too:) pubby -

Updated Model for Climate Shows that CO2 Contribution is Much Lower

Actually ABR ... given the few folks out there with any credentials willing to say what the Koch Brothers want said, it is more remunerative to make statements like those in Miranda's article. That Dr. Evans left the mainstream to start a group called "Goldnerds" and make his living by being a public speaker pretty much clarifies his 'angle' in my mind. Bottom line, his article and assertions were BS that he predicted would be picked up by right wing climate deniers and spread across the face of the earth ... and he'd get some speaking engagements where he can talk about that and inve -
Gosh, that would mean folks like Dick Cheney couldn't go hunting ... even at a NRA sponsored event. But hey, it is their way or the highway and the way I understand it, they won't be happy until there are ten guns for every man, woman and child ... and given that level of greed ... even that won't make the merchants of death everywhere happy. pubby

The county pays for the field production and associated costs of PCTV Channel 23. Dallas does the same for its channel (Chnl 22) I don't think that Hiram has one of its own. I know that Paulding.com produces the PBA video for PCTV at no cost to the county (We provide them permission to air this programming.) Other institutions such as Wellstar Hospital, the County Extension Service, Greystone, etc. do the same. The county has two staff members who manage the channel and produce programming featuring the commissioners, events, etc. such as the commissioner meetings. There are cost

First, let me thank with well wishes those who wished me a happy birthday here. I'll note that I seem to be getting more popular with my old age as the totals seem to be climbing ... but then again it may be sheer amazement that I'm just still kicking. Anyway, there were 43 well wishers who posted on facebook: I've been out checking on the progress (and making progress) on our new property. So what was the Birthday gift? How about a roof ... thanks to Jody Cash and Dallas Metal Products (No, he didn't give it to me ... but he started on it today! ) He got ab
