The reason from your report: So, 25 percent of what, 20,000 lbs of high explosives is a joke? You do realize that when a bomb falls from the sky an explosion occurs and kills innocent people, some would tend to call that terrorism. pubby

Yep, you're almost Rooseveltian in your prescription. You do know that US restricted and ultimately stopped ships at the shores full of Jewish Refugees ... Of course in the 1930s, Jews were about as welcome here as Muslims are now. Oh, talk about demonizing your enemies Classic one dogs ... And NJ ... you're doing the same thing, only more subtly. I understand ethnocentrism, parochialism and provincialism. Here is a copy of the abstract for the scholarly paper entitled: Parochialism as a result of cognitive biases by Jonathan Baron of the University of Pennsylvani

If you watch that factual video you soon discover that what is being debated in the wake of the Paris tragedy is GWB's foreign policy which is firmly rooted in Wolfowitz's document from 1992. Would one of you folks be so kind as to tell us what you think the Bush Doctrine is? Aw... don't trouble yourself. Here is a link: So, when mrshoward states that the first duty of the president to protect the American people and American interests, she is quoting this executive order. The Bush Administration, history will confirm, was the first administration to assert

You obviously didn't see the distinction as important enough to distance yourselves from it here. ... why? Well it would get in the way of you stating your exaggerated sense of outrage at the constitutional actions being taken by the administration. pubby

Here is the oath of office: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." The Constitution's first amendment guarantees freedom of religion. You folks are high-fiving Donald Trump on his idea of putting a badge on every Muslim (I guess on the women's burkas although that seems superfluous)... I do think that Cheney, Bush and the bunch (Condolezza etc.) were actually pleased because they knew such an attack wou

Huh? If dying is not high on their list of wants, why is their primary weapon suicide bombers? (Remember they don their vests of glory and blow themselves up over there with greater frequency than they do here.) You probably aren't living in fear, I'll concede ... but I think you motives are a purely partisan PR effort to affect the presidential campaign with no understanding or consideration for the constitutionality of what you're suggesting much less the impact and fallout on the national reputation or foreign policy of the nation. What I see is fear mongering for politic

And the only reason I ascertain why you say that is because they aren't bloodthirsty barbarians like our enemy ... and like those who want to turn the Islamic world to glass. It is the sheer determination, evident in this bit of fiction (3:38 in), that I both admire and given the bigger picture, disdain. Yes, Slim Pickens is going to get those bomb doors open even if it harelip's every on Bear Creek. pubby

Religious wars are feuds and make about as much sense as the feud between the Hatfields and McCoys. Why people who claim to be Christians can gleefully fan the flames of hatred, war, deaths and destruction while dismissing and denigrating those who seek peace, flies not only in the face of logic, but is as damnable a sin as can be imagined. Yet if one dare say that we might seek an alternative to slamming bayonets up their butts, they are unrealistic, unpatriotic, weak, fearful or cowardly. The thing you don't realize is that peace can only come when those who live there (in

OMG ... You are a colonialist ... 'cause I've not heard anyone talk so crassly about the 'white man's burden' in a long time. ... Now you sound like a cowboy, now dogs ... You know ... "the only good injun is a dead injun" ... You folks approach the subject of foreign policy with the sophistication of a first grader learning how to play tic-tac-toe. pubby

While everyone is upset over the ISIS attacks in Paris, I only saw a single article in the NYTImes about a similar ISIS attack in Beirut, Lebanon that took 47 lives. To me these are the folks on the front lines and it is they who will ultimately decide the fate of ISIS. But yes, some 47 innocents including children died in a spate of bomb attacks in Lebanon and you folks seem to offer no sympathy much less understanding that ISIS efforts could be more effective at turning the billion Muslims against them than our sending troops ... which just confuses the issue. ISIS is a mad dog a

Stradial ... I think you suffer the same lapse of judgment that afflicted George Armstrong Custer ... You confuse intelligence and cowardice and in the confusion you think advancing toward Little Big Horn is a good idea. Actually, when you realize the challenge is between religious histories, the answer may come from a religion whose traditions were born in the middle east. To wit: Oh, and the religion I speak of in this case is Christianity. But you're supposed to know that ... or don't you have any faith in your professed faith? The NVA were at the table in th

what you say about ISIS or what he says isn't going to make a tinkers damn. You can cuss them until the sun comes up and goes down ... and it will have no impact of the goals of ISIS or those seeking to turn it into their meal ticket. What you got to understand is ISIS is a government wannabe and yes, it could capture a formal state at some time in the future. But as glorified war lords - a form of criminal enterprise that extorts money from those close to it through bullying (aka: murderous terror). Its 'foreign exploits' are based on the religious zealotry/insanity and is the way they

There are some folks who only know the name of one tool - a hammer - and then think everything is a nail. You're the one talking all giddy about Putin ... 'cause he seems like a manly man who, like you, loves his hammer and thinks that everything out there is nail. You folks need a good dose of imagination ... aw hell, it wouldn't do any good because you don't have a creative bone is your body. pubby

Who said anything about ignoring them. I have no doubt that Putin is a pugilist. His greatest strength in this is that the Russians are pretty much immune to terror deaths or anything approaching the rule of law. Add to that the Russians have been in a war with the Checkens since ... drumroll 1785 ... and while there are periods of domination ... Russia remains the target of Islamic terrorism to this day. (Remember the school massacre at Beslan.) Given that history and the right's interest in creating perpetual war, I see your affinity for Russians. Indeed, it is just this kind of c

Think about it ... this is the result of nine people being willing to die - commit suicide - for their 'cause' which, notably, is a sick version of their religion. That they can get a half-dozen here, nine there and nineteen willing to literally kill themselves shows the nature of the challenge. That with weaponry and guns they can take 126 people with them (and injure another 300 or so) shows the amount of danger they pose. What bothers me is the notion that a strong president - I.e. one who will retaliate by killing 500 innocents to take out 5 leaders - is just inspiring to that

Greystone CEO Gary Miller addressed the members of the electric co-op via YouTube to give them an update on their efforts to keep the cost of electricity down. Citing the return of $5 million in membership credits and the advent of winter-rates, Miller distributed the message and linked it to his advertising on Paulding.com Here is his message:

Countering your argument is the economic miracle that happened to Loudoun county, Virginia, home to Dulles International Airport in Washington DC. This from the wiki on Loudoun County, which before the airport, had a population of about 20,000 resident and now sports 360,000+ residents: I don't think those folks live in so-called substandard housing although I do suspect, with the nation's highest median income, they pay a bit more in taxes. pubby

Whitey, what you're saying is like saying that because people die in hospitals so we should get rid of hospitals, so no one would die. Even if it were a correlation instead of a coincidence, what do you propose? Cutting crime by killing all the people? That would presumably eliminate crime. When larger groups of people live together, there is going to be crime. pubby

Whitey: Really ... you don't think Todd is planning to run for Chairman. While he hasn't announced, and there is a chance he might not, it is from my understanding a relatively small chance. There is a rule with politicians. If they think they can win a race for a higher office, they'll run for that office. Todd, I believe, thinks he can win. Part of his calculation is that he'll only have to run in the May primary ... avoiding the larger turnout on presidential primary and presumably the general election as well. Heck, I'm willing to wager on the question of Mr. Pownall's

Todd has intimated to me that he is thinking seriously about running for chairman, Whitey. I'm surprised he hasn't been more forthcoming with you. pubby

It is going to be a hoot when Mr. Pownall resigns his post to run for Chairman forcing a special election for his vacant post 2 seat. Are you going to call him a quitter too? Of course the reality is that those who want progress expect that they'll fare a lot better in a election where more than 7 percent of the voters participate. The first opportunity for that would be the presidential primary. I think we'll all expect a much higher turnout for that primary than in most meaning there is a greater chance for success by those promoting progress over NIMBY-ism. Politics is a game an
