  1. In the world I envision, none of this would have happened; not the shooting, not the deaths, not the use of a robot to deliver a bomb to kill the shooter, not the memorial services and not even the inherent or residual racism that we all know exists but some feel compelled to deny. Given this is so far from that ideal and its only course is more personal punches, I close the topic on my sole authority. pubby PS: We all know that GWB is one of those folks who has to move when he sings.
  2. If I were a taxpayer in Fresno, I'm of the opinion that a settlement will impact the taxes I would pay ... Frankly, I would never call that murder; but killing someone because you don't know what is in their hand starts to approach manslaughter. Bottom line, stupidity - and holding a small plastic box behind you when LEO is stupid but ought not be a death sentence. pubby
  3. If you think that putting a .45 automatic in your mouth and pulling the trigger is an interesting experiment in physics, I suppose you could consider electing trump an interesting experiment in politics. pubby
  4. I was actually testing a prototype portable deck I have invented and figured that since I support Dave and the Independence Day gig would be a good place to video putting it up and taking it down, I may as well make it available to the candidate I voted for, for chairman, in the Republican Primary. Yep, I voted in the Republican primary and I've not attended a Paulding Democratic party meeting in 2016. But back to the portable deck. These things are great. A typical 12x12 deck built in a traditional manner costs about $10/sq ft. and doesn't go anywhere. This jewel comes apart into f
  5. Condescension is a great way to show disrespect. It July but you just about fooled me 'cause you're so full of it, I mistook you for a Christmas Turkey. pubby
  6. You've been fooled by the propaganda about the marijuana. pubby
  7. I visited with Al Lee Gator who said it was a very, very quick meeting that ducked any action other than basic housekeeping. pubby
  8. That is interesting but I don't think we've heard the last from the well-funded ultra-right in Paulding (aka; Kerstin Liberty, Virginia Galloway) They may not have won but these folks goal is to take over the GOP locally, regionally and nationally ... and Paulding remains on their list of likely footholds. pubby
  9. So you didn't learn history from a teacher. Interesting. Fact is, that begs a question. Might I ask if you are a time traveler? I ask that because someone could easily mistake a person with your set of bigoted opinions as a native of the 19th Century ... maybe South Carolina. pubby PS: You know that in the wild west of your time, when folks like the Younger Bros., Billy the Kid, etc. were out putting notches on their guns, no one thought or suggested their violence was due to their race. Indeed, the white race, what with the attrition rate of the slave cargo coming from Africa, the
  10. Huh? I think a vote for Carmichael is a vote for Carmichael. I think also that as soon as his term is over, David Austin will distance himself from Paulding government ... pubby
  11. The only reason to close is because you want to take the rest of the day off (Often a good idea ). I wouldn't have been the least fearful ... unless there were some second-amendment open carry idiots with 100 round magazines full and attached to their AR 15s ... Which is one of the odd things that did happen in Dallas TX. But I'd expect such from Texans. pubby
  12. Not really, It is a matter of being very fair to all the siblings. The proceeds from the sale is divided up equally to all the folks in the family. It avoids the situation where, for instance, someone thought those planers are very, very valuable and they would feel cheated if one of the kids took it. Now if they buy it for $4.00 ... it is obviously not that valuable and they are all subsidized to the same degree in the purchase. To me it is just very fair and very clean. I'm sure her dad gave her any specific thing he wanted her to have before his passing. Finally, there m
  13. Actually, no one investigated the servers or email accounts so how can you be so sure that everything was hunky dory? No one was concerned about Hillary's server until they ran out of gas trying to prove something against Hillary on Benghazi and started probing into the private server. It is kind of like the last time you punched your car over 100 mph and there was no GSP around to corral you for the violation. I'm sure you would assert, duh, ... it never happened. pubby
  14. I'm surprised NJ ... disrupting the lives of others as being wrong is a pretty broad brush that would have fingers pointing at banks for usurious rates on credit cards, oil and gas companies for the spate of earthquakes and pollution of groundwater caused by fracking, the issues that young kids and other sensitive people feel from the pollution from the burning of the fuels; the imposition on every resident in the Atlanta metro who has to breath less than good air from other sources of pollution; the pain, agony and disruption to lives both here and overseas when our military is deployed to as
  15. Jamie: Interesting article. The conclusions were, to answer Cowa's criticism, based on a relatively small sample in Houston Texas, which was probably picked arbitrarily. The authors admit that the data could be different in other locations in the country. While it may say that killing - whether or not justified - by police is equal (did they pull out the suicide by cops? from their sample) based on race, the obvious lack of respect due a citizen based on his or her race is blatant. Let me be clear ... those who die from a police shooting don't complain. Those who have been roughe
  16. It really is a shame that folks don't realize that Black Lives Matter actually has an implied preposition attached. I've always heard it to say "Black Lives Matter too ... you know, like black lives matter also. This is because the way things are playing out in the conflict between LEO and blacks, it would seem that that black lives don't matter at all. That is the message that events are saying - actions always speaking louder than words - and that is the message I hear ... as you don't have to be black to empathize with these folks. Really, all you need to understand this dynamic
  17. Newsjunky: If what you say is true - that blacks are being hired over whites routinely so that they are at the top of every list, why is the unemployment rate double that for minorities regardless of the qualification. I.e. Caucasian unemployment rates are lower for those with college degrees than blacks with college degrees. Where the discrepancy is really massive in among teens with out a high school diploma ... where it is also roughly double. The trope of reverse discrimination is a largely false meme based on a few highly publicized cases that are more the exception than the rul
  18. What I see are two different constitutional amendments in conflict. Some folks criticize those who peaceably assemble and lament that inconvenience their exercise of their first amendment rights causes. Personally, I don't because I feel that it is critical that we all listen to one another and the act of listening, by some measures, is always an inconvenience. Then some folks are upset at any effort whatsoever to restrict, socially or legally, the asserted constitutional right of Micah Xavier Johnson to purchase an former military assault rifle. I think if we were all interested
  19. You do know every fact-checking organization has tallied the lie-ratio of the two presumptive nominees ... and the candidate whose ratio of pants on fire ratings (at over 70%) is the orange tinted Donald. Being a politician and saying a lot, Hillary's score is in the low 20 percent. So, I assume you're just ragging on Trump in your rant. pubby
  20. When you drive 56 in a 55 mph zone, you break the law. If every one who broke the law went to jail, we'd all be free because there would be no one left to lock the rest of us up. Basically, Hillary did what Condi Rice and Colin Powell did by having direct control over her email account. It is obvious that care was taken to avoid issues with classified information but that there were, inevitably and in hindsight, predictable lapses. That such lapses were predictable is why the decision to use the personal email server was reckless. It was a mistake but given precedence
  21. Zorro: I think the job of the secy of state is one of molding policy, etc. I know that the President, by uttering a 'classified secret,' can effectively declassify it by his act. Eisenhower did it when he acknowledged that Frances Gary Powers was a US Pilot flying spy missions over the Soviet Union. I know that the 'secrets' associated with Gen. George Patton's contingent for creating a second front with Germany in WWII were handled with almost as much diligence as those regarding D-Day ... because the ruse would not be credible if they weren't ... and that those who did provide
  22. I love it how some of you look at the world through a microscope. We all know that the security apparatus employed in the US today tends to over-classify documents and the resulting enhanced secrecy is there primarily to let the bureaucrats cover their collective butts. But lets return to the classification of documents and government secrets in general. First, a note about what is publicly known and what is secret. Back in 1979 when Iran was about to fall, there were tons of 'secrets' involving our relations with Iran as well as classified reports on the status of the Shah and

  24. People are just now coming home ... and they don't need them going to their houses. They are evacuating those in their home to make sure that the gunman can't enter a house and take hostages. Hostages are the last thing LEO wants to deal with. pubby
  25. Yes, looking at the county tax map. Probably 50-55 houses or so with that address, and there are a couple of streets that feed into it. It is a dead end ... it dead ends behind the elementary school on Williams Lake (Bessie Baggett Elementary) . thank goodness school is out for the summer. pubby
