  1. I wouldn't call him a disgruntled writer. He got half the royalties. I think he simply regrets his role in contributing some intellect to Trumps story and feels like he 'made' the guy by providing rationalizations that Trump used to make establish his personality. In essence, he thinks so little of Trump that he doesn't think Trump could have pulled off the level of success he has without his book making people think he is smarter than he is. Hence, I think he is guilt-ridden thinking that if Trump wins and becomes an American Mussolini, he will be partly responsible. pubby
  2. Here is the article, entitled "Donald Trump is not a liar" that speaks directly to your assertion GD. What can I say, I've been baffled ... pubby
  3. WHAT! And here I thought the Donald was the greatest, the biggest, the best at everything he does ... and considering his tendency to prevaricate, I assumed you would claim the championship ring for his in this as you obviously do in every other endeavor. Wait ... In looking for references as to the string of prevarications the orange bigot has spewed, I ran across this article that defends the man and says flatly that he is not a serial liar. My jaw dropped as I read on. Graph by graph the author makes the case, beginning with the key observation that to tell a lie, one must know th
  4. If you know anything about copyright, which apparently you don't, copyright imbues in the author the moment the 'work' is fixed in a medium whether it is video, audio, in print or in braille (or any other form of fixing works that may arise.) A speech is a performance and it has value within its context. USUALLY, you don't steal the works of others - especially your political enemies or rivals ... whether or not you call it copyright infringement or plagiarism. I think of particular note is the nature of the words and time when they were spoken. Both Michelle Obama and Ms Trump were,
  5. OSU ... speeches are show biz ... you work from a script. You have a set time limits and if you're on stage, you know this is a 'show' ... Heck, you're supposed to learn this in elementary school at 'show and tell' time. pubby
  6. What parents of LD kids (and disabled adults) want to know is that avoiding that sad situation of a confrontation going bad is likely because the officers have the combination of good common sense, training and experience to avoid such an unnecessary conflict. Those in the black lives matter world also want to know that good common sense, training and experience to read the typical traffic stop - always a stressful moment - means that if they are not doing something stupid, they will survive and will be treated with the same dignity that every citizen deserves. For the record, in LEO, the
  7. mrshoward No one cared about that nor does anyone think it a crime; they just wanted to know if it was a matter of incompetence or corruption. This particular incident obviously is a matter of incompetence and was news in the same way that Jerry Ford missing a step and falling down when he was president was news. pubby
  8. I think that the news that he's been give a choice to leave by the Murdoch family ... after an internal investigation by their law firm where they brought the staff to t heir law offices because of the belief that Ailes had bugged the news offices ... tells how real this is. I can't remember who said he said it but it sounds so right that Ailes said, "If you want to play with the big boys you got to lay with the big boys." I love the family values ... where do they teach them, in hypocrisy 101? pubby
  9. If you called him out and didn't report it as such, we may not have seen your personal attack. I can demonstrate many more than one article that has been set invisible from more than one poster over this issue. I don't doubt t hat we missed some but perfection eludes us all. pubby
  10. As I said in my earlier post, the culture that surrounds Mr. Trump is one that not only tolerates plagiarizing but embraces it. Found this article. I think most folks will recall the growing list of incidents. Plagiarizing is literally stealing intellectual property. Unlike the theft of a sandwich or a gun, the theft is not of an object but it is property none the less. His lack of respect for others Intellectual property is one of the reasons that he's been sued more than any other candidate for president in history - period. I'm just surprised that anyone wants a proven thief for
  11. I'll simply say that most of the broad cop bashing (as opposed to specific criticism of an increasing roster of individual officers) comes from the right which seems to want to broaden the criticism to all officers. I know when I attended the meeting with the BLM leaders in Paulding at the PCSO, among my conributions was a kudo for local law enforcement in regard to their handling of my son, who is incapable of immediately following an officer's request to put his hands in the air or lay on the ground. (In making a movie several years ago, it took me coaxing my son for fifteen minutes to
  12. No, he is human ... and his imperfections have been on stage for 20 years. That he has one third the number of wives as Donald Trump speaks volumes. pubby
  13. Trump campaign: A Trump corporate writer helped Melania on the speech and the quote came from Melania who reviewed Michelle Obama's speeches because she liked them (they were Democrats at that time, remember ) ... and she read the quote to the writer over the phone and the writer, who ghostwrites some of Donald's books, didn't review the quote and assumed it was Melania's thoughts and included them. The writer offered her resignation and it was refused by Trump. Obviously this is a human mistake. The problem is that Melania has said she is interested as a first lady, in promoting educa
  14. Yep, he can be funny ... but I spewed when he remarked about the level of gut feeling those with trumpiness feel. Feeling kind of trumpiness ? pubby
  15. Oh, there was a great deal of talk about it at the time ... that's why we all know about it. There were apologies and other positive moves to make this go away at the time. Hell, Joe Biden's lifting of a paragraph from a British politicians speech back in 1988 tanked his campaign. The only thing that is being said here is that the campaign screwed up big time by allowing Trump's wife to utter those words ... It is a matter of organizing competence of the campaign. I can't imagine anyone - and I mean anyone - in the GOP wanting her to 'quote' Michelle Obama on any subject and those phra
  16. Don't be modest, you'd love to run pubby's forum That said, yes, we are a bit down the road in regard to violence sparking out of control ... but we are still a long way shy of where we were in 1967-68. I remember driving about 50 miles north of Memphis in April 1968 when MLK was shot. I lived in a county that was roughly 50-50 black and white and we were hearing about the original Black Panthers etc. and frankly, that evening, as I was going to pick up a date and heard the news about MLK, I scanned the horizon (aka: bare cotton fields) to see if a mob had formed at any of the black hon

  18. Texture: I appreciate your defense of Trump but dang. GLIB and SUPERFICIAL CHARM — The tendency to be smooth, engaging, charming, slick, and verbally facile. Psychopathic charm is not in the least shy, self-conscious, or afraid to say anything. A psychopath never gets tongue-tied. They have freed themselves from the social conventions about taking turns in talking, for example. (CHECK) And since he actually helps people when he doesnt have to even when he isnt running for political office, and in private and in public has no problems whatso ever making fun of himself, he doesnt meet cr
  19. They changed the 'channel' for their live stream. The live stream is working again. I'll follow as quickly as I can if they pull this again. pubby
  20. I wasn't intending to ... but dang, I'd never seen that kind of division involving current and former US Senators being dissed like that by their party. I was just amazed. Oh, and I was basically transcribing ... what I was hearing directly from the delegates. I wouldn't mind if others did the same regardless of party. I mean, we're all about the truth, aren't we??? pubby Oh well, fat chance... the campaign, which had put up the live stream, took it down. Seems they're not about publicizing it either. If I can find another stream, I'll use it. pubby
  21. The article that all the news you're reading is based on this article in the New Yorker. It would tell you that the author didn't like Trump and had written a scathing bit on the man. That bit noted how Trump had moved dozens of homeless people into a rental building he was trying to have emptied to literally make life unbearable for his tenants. The story was not at all becoming but apparently Trump, being more interested in publicity than anything else, really appreciated how the article showed how could be a real tough guy asshole. He invited the author in and, because he was sitting
  22. I know exactly what you mean. They'd bring a court in to see if that "MR" was really an "MR." and not a MRs in the name and therefore a disqualified vote for Mr. Smith because that 'dot' was really an "s" in disguise. That is the screwyness of Georgia's write in vote law. pubby

  24. Another former Republican US Senator ... this is not a meeting of the Republican party, this is a meeting of brownshirts.
