  1. Yes, you're right. They didn't serve the POTUS and they sure as hell didn't serve the people of the United States either. The plain and unalterable fact is they didn't do a damn thing but draw a salary. pubby
  2. I wonder, do you think you need a culvert? If you do I may be able to save you some money. pubby
  3. It is you that don't get it dogs: Congress is there to serve the people as are the president and the courts. Usually, if the government is peopled by men of good will and with an understanding of the task, they come together and serve the people. It has happened many times before but when the Congress is peopled by men of avarice and vanity, service to anyone but themselves is lost. That the majority of the majority of the ruling party in the house has instituted a policy called the Hastert Rule - named after a former Republican speaker who also was a child molester I might add - tha
  4. Chester will show up soon enough ... and as far as the extraneous stuff, we all consider the source and smile that wry knowing smile pubby
  5. Privilege that rolls over others and expects to get away with it is very much Trump. Just ask the vendors that were cheated and when they threatened to sue, were presented with the story of the one contractor that did ... and it cost him ten times what he lost over the course of the 18 years of litigation. My opinion and I'm entitled to it. pubby
  6. Pete Guy used to advertise here and may be able to help you. 770-266-9366 This may be an old number. They do asphalt and gravel, etc. pubby
  7. If you were in the service, you served with fellow soldiers who were tasked with accomplishing things. Reagan served with several Congresses that served with him and negotiated, cooperated and accomplished things. Obama served with one Congress that accomplished somethings and then has served with three other congresses that decided to sit on the bench and obstruct anything that would get them a headline. To say that despite the partisan division, Reagan was served by Congresses that worked is the truth. One could even say that Bush was served by congresses that did work but the l
  8. Yes, Reagan signed legislation passed by a Democratic Congress and Senate that created the law/bill that he could either veto or not. He chose to sign it (not veto it) leaving some to wonder if he did it with a grin or grimace. Reagan, it must be added, had a congress that did stuff, unlike Obama, who was served by the most DO-NOTHING CONGRESS in the history of the REPUBLIC. pubby
  9. I hope so as well ... I just hope that whomever has found him will alert the authorities who will read the chip and return him. I understand that they may find him good company and want to keep him ... but they'll learn sooner or later that he's got a wanderlust personality ... I'm fairly certain of that. pubby
  10. Actually, he's a great dog ... except when the weather catches him ... and then he bolts. The last couple of folks who corralled him said they considered 'keeping him" ... meaning, that may be his fate until 'the next storm' ... They will then discover what we know about him ... and the next finder may call the pound or have the chip read. pubby
  11. Called the pound and he's not been picked up. Been well around the neighborhood and no bodies on the side of the road. I suspect the animal is out for an adventure. Oh, and he doesn't usually run loose. I have a lead; I was just going in the house for a moment and in the meanwhile he heard thunder and took off. He is very weird about that. pubby
  12. Building a pen is more practical at this house - 8.5 acres. pubby
  13. You would think a short-legged dog wouldn't run off a large property but dang if Chester (aka: Bear) did yesterday afternoon ... again. This is in the area north of the New Georgia ball fields but Chester is one of those animals who gets wild when stormy weather comes like last night He wandered off a little after 5pm and I went cruising the area around Jane Harris/61 and Lindsey Lake Road until after 7. No Chester. In the recent past he's been good about showing back up ... but ... if he was 'away' when the storm hit, he bolts and runs in a full terror. So, if folks will

  15. Because they were acting like insufferable snits that ooze privilege who felt they could come to a gas station restroom, trash it, and walk away because 'they're so special.' This compares them to the most special, insufferable snit that is Mr. Privilege - you know the guy who could shoot someone down on fifth ave. and not lose a voter. Sorry if you don't see the similarity. pubby
  16. You're funny: You're also showing why that substandard institution in the Missouri Ozarks is no longer leading anyone anywhere. First, the notion of suspicionless random testing is the key provision that led to the rejection of the 'as discussed' Florida law. When you went to a standard that involves suspicion, then you change the argument. As to the random drug testing regime. Quote from your cited source: One state that does 'screen' all applicants is Arkansas: The reality is that just as a law enforcement officer can't stop and search me because the sun is
  17. Apparently they paid for the damage done and were unhappy about the monetary cost and figured they could get a little vengeance. It actually begs the question whether one of the perks of wealth and celebrity is the ability to spout BS and have it substitute for the truth. I mean Donald Trump does that every day. pubby
  18. I agree that the violence that we see around us has increased as has the number of guns and the frequency with which they are carried and the amount of 'worship' (for want of another word) that folks seem to give to their 'special steel friends.' (I really don't get the affinity one has toward a specific tool - not Hemingway his typewriter nor scarface his 'little friend' or even Jim Bowie his knife.) Heck, when growing up, I barely had a favorite baseball bat ... Anyway, here's the graph: There are a lot of bears in Canada and a fair number of guns... roughly 10 million. They do
  19. Building walls, conducting extreme vetting, throwing people who protest out on their ear with a swift kick ... are all examples of conduct. Alternatives to these examples might mean you build bridges, invite people and treat them like friends and plea with them nicely ... or even listen to them when they protest. The first examples of the way folks conduct themselves would be considered meaner than the latter set of behaviors. Ridicule; like the  would also be 'meaner' than :db:or or Oh well, I think you understand and as TP pointed out, most of Trumps supporters
  20. One of his points is we don't get it that things are sooo much more peaceful now than at any other period of time because we still see the news ... and people not being shot, killed, or blown to bits is not news. But in regard to his criticism of the news: Pinker says: What Mr. Pinker hasn't quite grasped is that the big news on the mass shooting also sells more guns ... or at least more assault weapons. CLICK HERE for the whole interview. pubby
  21. I think this question is justified in that the incident would have been news in South Carolina ... but in the local context; it is more in line with the idea that some TV news directors have, which is that if it bleeds, it leads ... and if there isn't something local that bleeds; some news directors will go not just a couple of hundred miles but thousands of miles to find something bloody to lead their news. For us, hundreds of miles away, it is less news and more pandering to the idea that you need blood to spill to make news. It was news in South Carolina; here it is more along the li
  22. Dogs, dogs dogs.... Random drug testing by the government as a condition of getting assistance would be unconstitutional because government can't compel you to incriminate yourself. Your employer can tell you to not protest because he is a private entity; he can tell you you can't speak and he can tell you to fess up or be fired ... and that is all good because he's not the government. The same is true for the local Rotary club which runs the Dallas Christmas Parade. They can tell those who want to march with pointy hats and white robes to go straight to the hot spot where as the
  23. Trolling ... no ... just part of the story (check the link) that we all know mrshoward wouldn't bring up as she was intent on showing some young blacks who killed an older black man because he threatened to call the law on them after they tried to cheat him out the $20 they promised to pay. Why? Because the car he pulled from the ditch was stolen too. Oh, and I happen to agree with the sentiments of Mr. Garrett. pubby
  24. I remember when the social security card was not supposed to be used for identification. They used to print it right on the front. I also remember when the idea that you had to have "identity papers" was an abhorrent scene in movies typically depicting Nazi's checking the identities of people as they sought out Jews they could send to death camps. The typical drivers license was a piece of paper with your name and address typewritten on the page with no - zero - anti-counterfeiting aspects much less a graphic that digitally represented your fingerprints. (Hell, we didn't even need a f
