  1. Israel Unveils New Defense System To Deflect Accusations Of Human Rights Violations
  2. Like them BIG WHITE SIDEWALLS ... and that little mushroom of a pod taillight. You call it an 'el camino' but what is the cartruck based on, a Chrysler? or Pontiac? coupe (Know it is not a Ford ... or at least I don't think it is. ). That one bumper extension Chin is cool and the hood ornament is 'special' ... I don't think it is a buick either... but not because it doesn't have portholes (I think they came after the war.) Oh well, I give up on the make but it is a mid-to-late 1930s model business coupe converted to a carry around. I wonder if that 'trunk' actually had a rumble seat
  3. Dang, Markdavd, you make Dr. Phil sound like a politician ... fact is, if Dr. Phil weren't more liberal and had a bald head, he'd remind me of fellow Texan Ted Cruz. Of course I'm not terribly fond of any Texan and have a real dislike for those from Texas A&M. pubby
  4. A 44 year old Chinese man accompanied with his wife went to a hospital to complain about blood in his urine, got one heck of surprise when doctors told him he was actually a her and he was starting what, had he had a normal endocrine system, most young girls begin at about age 13. The man, I mean woman, is thankful to be in China, which unlike Russia, does not criminalize homosexuality. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/07/25/man-checks-into-hospital-for-bleeding-stomach-pain-and-finds-out-hes-on-his-period/ pubby
  5. I caught a lot of flack from hacks here saying that I (and even Newt, whose story I was posting) was way off base suggesting that of the things to be 'prepared for' ... a Solar Flare or Coronal Mass Ejection would be or should be high on the list. Seems we 'ducked that bullet' just about two years ago. The event noted passed by earth just before the earth 'got there' meaning if had happened just a few days later, we wouldn't be having this conversation because it is doubtful that electronic/digital communications would still be in place on anything like a mass scale.\ pubby
  6. This was a nice creative parody that I thought was funny. pubby
  7. The outbreak is in Africa and while I'm sure there is a danger of it spreading, NewsJunky, the way it reaches this country is much more likely to be via an international airport, the kind of which local anti-folks want to make sure anyone flying from here has to visit. The point being that most folks from Africa are more likely to fly into New York or Atlanta than they are to go to Central America or even Mexico and 'in' ... So, in terms of the aggregate risk of emigres from Central America being a vector for ebola, it is pretty much a joke; the risk from other locations being so greater.
  8. An Adult Swim 30-minute live-action comedy set in Compton California where a man purporting to be Jesus, back after 2014 years, seeks to bring a community together by assuming the mantle of the savior is getting blowback from religious groups. The show challenges boundaries and while it is certainly within the realm of the first amendment, is getting reactions from fundamentalist Christians. Certainly if it depicted the Islamic prophet Muhammad, it would be blamed for riots throughout the middle east and cries of heretical are a likely fallout. Here is the trailer for the show.
  9. Listen to the story, recognize that women are in the majority of the audience on pcom and write a better headline, guys. I'll be glad to change it if you do a better one. pubby
  10. Despite being the owner of a copy of visacalc and Lotus 123 as well as various editions and flavors of excel, when I think of sex and spread sheets, I think of cotton or linen and frankly, I'm a like those old-school thoughts more ... a lot more. pubby
  11. For clarity, here is the rule referenced: This rule was designed to give guidance to members who at that time were apt to post entire articles with nary so much as a comment or link. Some get into trouble doing so because it seems to plagiarize the original information. In regard the topic this question was attached; it included a poll and information from numerous national sources. The technical nature of the material - we were talking about Electro-magnetic pulses both from the sun (naturally) and from man-made sources which is material that was well explained in the lengthy s
  12. This was a literally amazing news story that came out this week involving an incident at the border between Canada and Alaska. Apparently a caravan of four vans carrying boy scouts on a summer trip to Alaska from Iowa were crossing back into the US. At the border crossing one of the youths had the audacity to take out a camera and the border patrol agent went bonkers... pulled that van off to the side, confiscated the camera (ultimately deleting the picture) and threatened the kid with 10 years in jail and a $10,000 fine for taking his picture. KCCI/ DES MOINES updated that story l
  13. Here is a piece from a NRA editorialist who thinks, apparently, that America's gun policy out to be pro-guns and we should require folks to own them because owning guns is 'good for you.' Strangely this kind of fits with some undercurrents in some futurists vision where people have computer implants or even genetically engineered capabilities like eyes that have the acuity of an eagle, fingers that have sensors capable of feeling magnetic fields or even brains that are physically augmented with computers (cyborgs) for direct connection to a super-internet. In essence, this NRA vid
  14. I don't know you at all but I envision you kind of like that smokey video posted by TP of Mike Wallace interviewing Ayn Rand. pubby
  15. I think we have a candidate to replace Stephen Colbert ... or have you gone over to the dark side TP pubby
  16. The point is, and thank you for confirming it, there are those whose main effort in life is to figure how to game the system. We should probably take pride in the fact that educational levels has risen to the point that the criminal mind is so much more sophisticated that many of those so disposed prefer a crime of this nature than the more physical blasting taxi-drivers for fares and stealing purses from old ladies. pubby
  17. It wouldn't take too long to fix this. You make some identities 'known' to the criminal element. They get them (they do this because they are sick and on the lam) to solve their problem but because you've set out the identities (like decoy cars designed to catch car thieves) ... if it is man, you write into the fake id's medical record, testicular cancer and schedule the guy for surgery ... or if it is female, you do the same except breast cancer. Alternately, you can give them 'operable brain cancer.' ... I personally don't see much benefit in getting insurance for a fake id unless
  18. Actually, the batteries were fully charged. This was the first time in meeting lasted 2hrs 07min and while I had complete audio from a remote audio recorder, the typical battery lasts over an hour ... I expect 80-90 minutes or recording. Since I had not been to a commission work session that lasted much over 70 minutes in years, I didn't count on KV trying to pull a filibuster. Second, there is the element of production values. What I can state categorically is that the one video that Roy Sparks posts is done with one camera from one position and there is no editing or melding togeth
  19. I can't say anything without being criticized. The point of the comment was to point out that she was just like most of us before the Lord spoke to her and since, she is vastly different. The comment simply asserts that a lot of us were like her before her heart was remade. Fact is, the criticism actually proves the point of how well she would have fit in before her change in heart because from what I gather from her comments, she was highly critical, if not hateful, to all around her. I feel vindicated in making the comment now. pubby
