  1. The county made a decision in 2007 to not buy textbooks in math. One argument I hear - a lot - is that teachers can copy the material for the students or the students can write it down. You vote? Then speak with your ballot that this is a stupid decision.

  3. That you will have more snow within two weeks. At least, that's what I heard.
  4. Wayside lane is clear. How about your street?
  5. It isn't on the district website but it is on 11alive.com and wsbtv.com.
  6. And the 478 phone calls are going around. Happy day - no school tomorrow!
  7. Is anyone seeing any? http://www.11alive.com/weather/radar/default.aspx
  8. No update on school closings yet, but I am seeing something I don't normally see in a storm that has been announced this far out: The timing of the snow (9 pm tonight) hasn't moved back like it normally would. And the possibility (60% followed by some 100%) hasn't changed. Weather channel shows snow from 9 pm to 8 am followed by mix to 8pm. I think the schools will be canceled. Here are the links to make it easier for whenever they make a decision. It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. -- Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  11. Wow. What a class act - Hiram - you deserve to pat yourselves on the back. This was well done!
  12. An Army base near where I grew up used to have a car from a wreck at the gate, particularly near prom season, as a reminder to the young people to slow down. I am sorry for your loss but commend HHS and Blake's family for taking this step.
  13. My son washed his shirts in the frat house washer and they have blue jean looking stains on them. Should the solutions above work on his shirts as well. I meant the hairspray, color removal sheets, etc - not the drink.
  14. I hope kids come on Friday. Parents don't come to open house. I need kids to bring paper and pencil so I can start Monday - too much to cover otherwise.
  15. Teachers are not allowed to ask a person's citizenship status. So, you have a child brought to this country and taught to lie - to the teachers, the school, anyone who asks. She grows old enough for a license and is taken home to Mexico to get a license - which she doesn't renew (inconvenient)? You have the enablers - all the people telling her she is a good person and entitled to an education. Including KSU. Why is everyone surprised that her idea of a "messed up system" is that people are angry with her being here rather than an acknowledgement that she is breaking the law.
  16. There was a bad accident just west of the Avenue. A red car was T-boned. I saw it about 4:30 (not happen, they were dealing with it as I drove by) Didn't look good for the drive - the car is toast.
  17. State budget picture clearer, but not a done deal By TRAVIS FAIN - tfain@macon.com ATLANTA — When House and Senate Republicans struck a series of deals Wednesday on new taxes, new fees, tax cuts and a plan to sell off a bunch of state loans, they solved a few hundred million dollars worth of budgetary problems. Then the House passed its version of the state’s fiscal 2011 budget, leaving the Senate a couple of weeks to do its own tinkering before the legislative session ends April 29. budget As Gov. Sonny Perdue and various state legislators have said repeatedly, the budget isn’t
