  1. I have had the scanner on and off today and have not heard anything related to the school.
  2. I am no accountant and could be of no use verifying any books. This seems like such a trivial task and I don't know why it has not been required for county funding in the past. Comes down to personal responsibility. The deadbeats that don't pay you for EMS services have none. Between my two vehicles we have 438,000 miles on them. Why? Because my personal health care, disability, and term life insurance payments come first because I am the one responsible for my family.
  3. I had asked previously if you had any proof of your quote "Paulding County has had representation that has worked for themselves and the corrupt developers..." You responded: Don't many developers have to improve infrastructure to the area of their development? Don't they run the sewer lines and improve roads in the area? Isn't there a large tap fee for connecting to water and sewer that is part of the price paid by the purchaser? I'd expect a retraction of the comment regarding previous representation working for corrupt developers if you have no proof. Just admit that you ma
  4. The EMS zones are assigned by the Board of Human Resources at the recommendation of the Regional EMS Council (members appointed by county commissioners). I don't think the council takes "bids" for providing services at a given price. The ambulance services want the zone in order to make a profit providing services and they convince the EMS council that they can, indeed, provide the services. Our local provider had the need to request subsidies many years ago in an order to improve service to the entire county. As others have posted, this is a fairly common practice. At this point,
  5. This is incorrect according to DHS. You can request whatever service you want to come to your home. Clark is the default since they own the zone. I'll be the first in line once a full audit is completed and the need truly established.
  6. Costco had the best price - $13 for 5.6#s
  7. I've met Presidents Carter & Clinton, and VP Gore along with their families. I worked on the set of Home Improvement back in the mid-90s when they did a show here at a Habitat for Humanity build that featured a lot of stars like John Elway, Sean Jones, Evander Holifield and all the cast of the show. Also Laura Story, Aaron Shust, and Curtis Carlin (ask him why he is, indeed, famous). That's all that come to mind.
  8. I have no reason to doubt the comments of the state agency. The same facts were later confirmed by the BOC chairman. I asked the previous defenders and posters saying they worked in the office to comment on but I don't recall that they ever denied.
  9. See previous comments on "combing the books." I believe that was offered 10 years ago and a full disclosure was not available -- so I am told by a state DHS official.
  10. So I guess that, unfortunately, the OP spoke the truth?
  11. I'm sure the funeral providers lobbied the state legislature many years ago to ensure they would be business for years to come. The days of burying grandma out back by the old oak tree were replaced by spending $4000 for a $500 box. Very few people plan for the unexpected so the sudden death of a loved-one finds many unprepared. But, that gets us back to the fact that deadbeats are part of any business.
  12. I've been thinking about this one. Wasn't this general area where the big Wellstar facility going to be built? If so, the county spends money for fees for land disturbance or whatever to show Wellstar they are moving forward with providing infrastructure for the area. Wellstar backs out and wanting to not see a benefit of the fees paid, the BOC decides to spend 10 million. Don't really know how the engineers show this road as being an improvement, but it may very well bring some business to the area. If that is the case, then a $10 million investment will seem like good vision on t
  13. tbird, collecting from deadbeats is something not new in the business world. Looks like this business owner must be "too nice of a guy" to be in this business if providing services and not getting paid is this big of a deal to the company. The business model should be built around a certain percentage of clients that do not pay. While I'd guess that percentage has grown over the past few years. I think I would at least enlist a good collection agency to see what outstanding accounts can be paid on. There is no more free money at the county level.
  14. You don't think 5 million per mile seems a little excessive?
  15. I saw it on pcom..... must be true.... right along with Whitey's 438% tax increase.... So yes, if there are financial troubles, then I think the state, county and public should be made aware of the situation and another provider be asked to step in and cover calls if needed.
  16. the "contract" is with the state too bad if checks are late -- I hope the situation gets better
  17. I just did a straight line GPS calculation on the two terminating point - a little over 2 miles. Seems crazy to spend 5 million per mile for this road. Are these Oboma-stimulus funds?
