  1. No, I'm sure that the poor speech is constant. And I don't know how I would react, but I do know that if I was interviewed post attack, I would be more articulate and careful to express my joy for the children's safety and not how "wonderful it was to speak to Obama, and oh, if I could just see his face."
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23811515 The clerk that worked during the McNair shooting is being called a hero...and perhaps she deserves it, however I noticed a few things that seem to have gone un-noticed. 1. She asked, "can I run" in the beginning of the call. She didn't sound very brave to me. 2. She interacts with our children and has deplorable grammar. 3. Obama called her to thank her for her heroism...wonder how many soldiers he called that day? Anyone else have these thoughts? Or am I just becoming very jaded in my old age?
  3. I seriously HATE this for these people, but I also HATE these people for allowing their children to know so much of what's going on...and I don't want to hear that "kids know more than you think". I grew up DIRT poor - but I never felt burdened by it, and that was because my mom never made me feel like we somehow had less of a life than others. She made trips to the library, beach, park and festivals special. And yes, there were PLENTY of times that we had a utility shut off, she would always say, "darn it, I forgot to put that check in the mail" and she'd take care of it. It wasn't until
  4. Pan to the audience - filled with indians and asians. You are at GEORGIA TECH! I love tech, I love their incubator, I love their entrepreneurial spirit and I have been VERY fortunate to work for a number of incredible leaders that came out of GT. Like these guys <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10151778601843788" width="336" height="240" frameborder="0"></iframe> This was back when tech start ups kicked major ass!
  5. ^^^ You may very well make a couple hundred bucks, depending on what you have to hock, but I can't think of anything more dreadful to endure. ETA: This could potentially be less awful if you added alcohol, but don't. And stuff.
  6. Channel 2 Action News has confirmed with multiple sources that the suspect is a white man in his 20s who was armed with an AK-47 and dressed in black. Welp, that's convenient.
  7. Seems morbid to have an insurance policy on your kids. I can cough up $8K to bury my child - not that it would matter because if anything happened to my kids, my husband would be able to bury us all with my life insurance policy.
  8. I need to get some new stationary - return address labels, thank you cards, etc. Thought I'd see if anyone has a favorite Etsy vendor or something...
  9. No one in the world believes that Diana was killed by the Paps. Everyone knows it was the Queen - Dear old Liz and MI6 took care of that little blemish on the monarchy.
  10. I laughed til I cried. MUST READ!! http://www.ivillage.com.au/when-i-have-kids-i-will-never/
  11. Actually, this is demand gen brilliance. LIke the google doodle, people will now visit the yahoo site to see what the new shiny logo of the day is. Why this is good is because while google is a good search engine, that's where it stops. There is nothing but the doodle - this simplicity is good, however it doesn't drive you to advertising. Yahoo will draw you with the whiz bang new logo, captivate you with a news headline (they do this as well as anyone) and hope that you'll go deeper into their offers. All and all, they're doing a good job marrying news and search. Google delivers content
  12. Cruising is very economical. While it's been years since I've been on a big ship, and it's really just not my bag, I do get very tempted when I see some of these prices. I would recommend investigating the smaller ships and keeping an eye on deals that they run. They're smaller, so porting is a much better experience, and they're all inclusive. Seabourne just sent me a 7 day med cruise for $2400 - including air. Say whaaaat? I can drink that much in alcohol. Have fun!
  13. I would be prepared to pony up the equivalent of half the cost of the cruise in 'fees, tips, etc' at the end of the cruise - $600 for the cruise, $300 tab at the end.
  14. My chitlin isn't allowed to have anything online. And we own guns. On our person. Bring it.
  15. Yes, a backpack at a state park known for small hikes is definitely out of the ordinary. I want to hold your hand and take you out into the big bad world to show you that it's not that bad. Fear of buses, fear of children walking down roads, fear of crowds. This isn't meant to be catty, I'm being absolutely sincere - the world is a majestic place, full of wonder, surprise and the most unlikely adventures. LIVE. Please. LIVE. It's an amazing experience. Truth is, our days are numbers and we're going to go - what are you going to do in between now and then??????? There is not
  16. This reminds me of the kind of crazy that happened when AIDS came out. People fear what they don't know. They fear it even more when they are of low intelligence to begin with. The vast majority of us can rationalize and therefore we're not paralyzed by the existence of people, things and situations that we do not understand. For instance, why in the hell would a person bomb Stone Mountain when there are 57 million more impressive soft targets, like, the aquarium, the Atlanta Children's Museum, heck, Dollywood. But yes, clearly the rag heads want to hurt the 14 people that will be wit
  17. north, south - if you can get to Fargo without a needing a plane, it's too damn cold.
  18. So, interesting about Abbey Road. It's actually in the middle of nowhereville in London. A very unassuming zebra crossing in a boring town, EXCEPT for the abundance of tourists that stop traffic in order to recreate the photo. There's not a pub, sandwich shop, nothing. Just the studios, which you can't get close to, a plaque to identify it and a bunch of people congregating and being too embarrassed to walk across. You can tell it annoys the locals. However, if you want the best Beatles swag, there is a shop near the Underground station that has ANYTHING you can think of. And ye
  19. Wait. Fargo is in SD? Eff that. It's cold. Good thing your reproductions aren't producing - can't be much to else to do in the winter.
