Nobody has their head in the sand (well as far as this is concerned) however, before going off half cocked about this, there are things that need be thought out. The biggest thing is how much is this going to cost the school system. Yes, this is important, but so is making sure our kids have tools to learn. While I understand that drugs are a very insidious thing that has been, and sadly will be in our schools, we also need to enforce the rules that are already in place, and that falls to the adults that are in charge of our kids. I'm thinking that you should have made this a poll.

Like I said most of the kids involved in athletics, and other extra curriculars are too busy either competing, improving their skills, some working, and others having family time. Yes, and yes. Why is this any different? Because, I'm the parent, and I am the one responsible to take care of my child. Yes, if someone thought my child was involved in drugs, or any other behavior I want to know about it, as would most/all of the parents I know. If they are adults then that is where I as a parent have no say. Unless they are still in high school, and living at home. If they are in college, and I'm paying for it, I still have a say.

I would start with the parents. If I knew that a kid was/maybe doing drugs, then I would let the parent know. After all the parent would have to be told that little Jannie/Jimmy is suspected of drug use. You know back in the day according a lot of people drug use was rampant at the school I went to. Funny thing there were very few kids who were doing drugs. Now we did have an English teacher arrested for selling drugs. He was very handsome. And you know this, how??? The athletes I know (which are many) are too busy improving their skills, working or being with their family to be doing drugs. Perhaps you know of one or maybe two, but that certainly doesn't mean the hundreds of other athletes are doing this.

Is drug abuse a thing in our Paulding co athletes? Have any our athletes had any drug issues after graduating high school? If the answer is no to both of these, then I don't see a reason for the schools to violate my son's 4th amendment right. I upgraded all of mine a while back. Once I got it set to my preferences (a mixture of 7,8,&10 wonder what happened to 9) I like it. The only drawback that I have is that it sets windows as your photo viewer, and Picasa doesn't like it. It will run Picasa, it just doesn't like it.

They are ALL OVER the school. Thank you Ragsdale heating and air. But really......... there are places that their sign shouldn't be. Kinda defets school pride, and spirit.
