Shorter, along with The Forum, the Georgia Department of Labor, The Rome News-Tribune and Rome Radio Partners, will sponsor the second annual job and career fair on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 1 p.m. until 5
  2. I believe Todd has ran on a platform or fiscal responsibility and lower taxes while Mrs. Cochran was part of the Jerry Shearin administration that nearly bankrupted this county.
  3. This lady in her 50's and a young gal in her 20's were fighting, pulling hair, and cussing while standing in line at the drivers license office on County Services Pkwy in Marietta this morning. The cops were called to sort things out, but the old gal held her own. Don't you just love a good cat fight? Whew. Thank Goodness it's FRIDAY.
  4. I can't stand American Idol and I really can't stand Ellen Degenerate.
  5. For Steaks, I like Texas Roadhouse. For BBQ pork, I like the BBQ joint across from Paulding Hospital. Hickory something? For veggies, I like Joan's.
  6. This looks like it's going to be a very close runoff. Does anyone know if 3rd place candidate Mr. Adam Gregory has endorsed either of these two candidates? His endorsement could sway the election.
  7. If you have kids, there is a really neat park to visit just south of St. Augustine. It's called Fort Matanzas. You have to take a small ferry out to the park, but it's absolutely beautiful and full of history. The little kids LOVED it. It smaller an a lot less crowded than Castillo de San Marcos, but it's a neat little trip. http://www.nps.gov/foma/index.htm by the way, we stayed at the Sleep Inn. It wasn't fancy, but was affordable.
  8. Pappadeaux on Windy Hill Rd is EXCELLENT. A little expensive, but the seafood is great.
  9. Agree 100%... most attorneys who are worth a flip are in private practice where they usually earn a lot more money.
  10. The best way to kill bees in the ground is to wait till evening, right before sundown and cover the hole with a small screen, then pour in a gallon of boiling hot water into the hole. Also, don't wear Yellow, because bees are attracted to yellow.
  11. Supreme Court strikes down Chicago handgun ban; case may have far-reaching impact for states, local governments. I agree with the Court on this one. Please discuss your views.
  12. I'd like to boot out all the incumbents and start over.
  13. They've got some pretty good sandwiches. My favorite is a grilled Turkey & Swiss on Sourdough Bread. Of course they have burgers, dogs, chicken fingers, etc. I don't know if they are open on Sunday, but they stay pretty busy through the week.
  14. Thanks to the oil spill, The Steak House in Rockmart will no longer be offering All You Can Eat Shrimp because of the huge increase in the price of shrimp. That affects me. Plus, we're not going to the gulf for vacation. We'll be headed to Pigeon Forge.
  15. Mr. Avery will get my vote. I'm looking forward to the picnic.
  16. Wasn't Stout the one who porked his mother-in-law? And the GOP folks on this board want him to be their representative? nice.
  17. I am 100% for whomever runs agains DA Drew Lane. nuff said!
  18. I agree 100%. Vote Democrat and bring back some common sense to our State!
  19. I know we have a Chamber of Commerce, but we really need to invest in our infrastructure before big business will come. The airport is a great start, but our traffic, especially Hyw 278 & Hwy 92 around the Hiram area is a serious problem. For a semi-truck coming from the Powder Springs rail yard to Dallas during rush hour, traffic is horrendous. We need a better way to get to Hwy 41, I-20, etc. I love the discussion regarding industrial growth. A rail line is key. There are a couple of properties for sale with rail access (over near the Dallas wood yard comes to mind), but before a se
  20. There are a variety of issues facing our county. Traffic issues and taxes are both close to the top. What can the candidates do regarding these?
  21. I've looked at all three web sites and they all seem to be for lower taxes. My question to the candidates would be in regards to commercial/industrial development. Currently, the economy here in Paulding is heavily affected by retail sales and residential construction. The market downturn has affected tax revenues and now the BOC & BOE are both in a huge budget crunch. There is very little diversification as far as industrial, manufacturing, etc. What will each candidate do to attract new types of businesses to diversify our tax base, and to bring good paying jobs to Paulding County?
  22. I saw where Mr. Pownall Has a website at toddPownall.com I saw where Mrs. Cochran has a facebook page and she encourgaes folks to look her up. What is the deal with Mr. Gregory? Does he have a web site where folks can look at his resume and get a feel of what he's like. I certainly want the best candidate to win, but voters need to be informed.
