Should schools be more involved with teaching the dangers of guns?
C. Hawkins replied to cricket1176's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am really not trying to shuffle the responsibility from the parents to the schools and/or teachers. Just think a visit from the PCSD at the beginning of the school year couldn't hurt. I KNOW when I pulled over and had a Sheriff's Deputy tell my grandson to stay in his booster seat/seatbelt right it had waaaay more impact than it did coming from me. -
Pretty much looked like what they were trying to do.

Sunrises(usually just on vacation) Sunsets Being awake before everyone else and sitting on the porch swing listening to the neighborhood come "alive". The sound of children's laughter. Definately the smell of coffee. Especially in the barrels at Harry's. Bumble Bees and Hummingbirds. Smell of newly cut grass(between the sneezes) Smell of leaves burning. Changing leaves. I could go on forever.

Should schools be more involved with teaching the dangers of guns?

I may be the minority here and this type of thing may not be possible. I do not have a problem with someone from the Sheriff's Dept visiting each and every classroom and talking about guns. Maybe just teach on a per level/grade basis as far as how deep the "talk" will be. Invite the parents and let them attend with their child if they want to be there. Even have a "opt out" letter if needed. Keep these on file so if one of these children bring a gun to school then they can see the parent opted out. Let them know in no uncertain terms that guns in school are not allowed and -

Kinda off topic but talking about the airport reminded me. Does anyone know who it is that thinks it is a great idea to fly their helicopter so close enough to the ground it makes the trees sway? He/she is waaaay too low IMO. Doesn't happen often but when it does it is scary.

We laugh at this all the time. NO matter what your subdivision sign says people....You live in Mableton or even worse Oakdale. There is even a Vinings "something" on Queens Mill Road for crying out loud....LOL

Before we have another 'prayers requested' thread

THAT said....We could talk all day about the other end of the scale....older drivers. There are bad drivers in every age group. Our children are in our homes and depend on us for pretty much everything so parents do have some control if they will just use it. Also....Put a good example out there when you are in the driver's seat. My 9 year old granddaughter was sitting in a chair, holding her knee in the air, moving it back and forth and her thumbs were going in the air a mile a minute. I asked her what she was doing. "Driving like Ms _______________. We had a good -

Not sure how it can be fixed but I also think the driver's testing is too easy. Kinda kidding but I think QT or Racetrack at 5:00PM on a Friday should be part of the test. I will SECOND,THIRD and FOURTH the high power cars/SUV's. They just DO NOT need them. I am extremely cold hearted when it comes to this. Give a 16 year old a high powered car and you might as well buy a matching color coffin. I know this does not apply to all 16 year olds but....*&^%....Give me a high power car now and I would be tempted to see what it will do. Drove a '69 396 Chevy SS at 19 and married and -
I agree that something is definately not right in both cases.

I have never been impressed with the Festival itself or the vendors for the most part. I agree....when it is hot it is HOT out there. We try to get up a couple of weekends every Fall and visit the orchards/stores(gotta have that bread)and just enjoy riding around. Always take the grandkids and a picnic lunch and find an out-of-the-way spot to stop and eat. My tattoos make a scene of a Pumpkin Patch with an old wooden fence, apples, pumpkins, scarecrow, bales of hay, leaves and everything else that goes with Fall.

Just seeing this and wanted to add my thoughts and prayers.

Two transports from Paulding Hospital to Cobb Hospital and I could not have asked them to be nicer or more caring. The guys apologized for every bump and turn in the road on the way there both times. They must have accepted what the insurance paid because I never received a bill from them.

Glad to hear he may be one his way home.

I just live on a regular 2 lane road. If they did I never saw it and they did not come to my door. Just told them what happened and I was kinda worried but scared at the same time. Husband walked up and down the road the next morning and no sign of an accident.

About 3:00AM one Sunday morning someone started BANGING HARD on my front door. No one that knows me ever comes to this door. They were not saying anything or calling for help. I looked out the window and it was 2 older teen/young 20's girls. They continued to BANG HARDER still saying nothing. I did not go to the door. They finally went away and walked off down the driveway. I felt bad for a bit but in my mind I could imagine 2 guys hiding around the corner of my house. I called the non-emergency # for the PCSO and they said they had no 911 calls from my area. If

The running away question was one I wanted to ask. Is there any reason he just flat out does not want to surface or be found? Not being heartless because I do pray he is safe.
