I can tell you this all the restaurant and retail would not be here if the taxpayers had not paid for the road, sewer, water and other utilities. If they were putting a Red Lobster at the airport terminal there would not be a peep about the bad old airport. Hell if they had mud bogging or drag races out there the tail gaiters would be loading up. It's funny but at the same time it is very sad. I think that everyone accusing the elected officials of personally profiting needs to prove it. Every business owner in Paulding will benefit from economic growth. Our airport is a big part of that. We would not need economic development if we had not been raped by residential housing developers

Airport Authority looks to make another private 'deal'
LPPT replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
Oooh it would be sweet to have at least 1/2 of that fleet parked at our airport Cha-ching! -
Listen all the way to the end, I almost spewed on my keyboard.

I have 2 kids that love retail. One is a certified respiratory therapist that realized in her internship that it was not for her. I pushed her towards healthcare for job security, now I regret it. She loves retail and should be getting her own store soon. It really is not about putting a dollar amount on the labor, but the part that it plays in the overall economy. Walmart is often brought up because they are the largest private sector employer in the country. There is no getting around how deeply this companies decisions effect the economy of our country and countries around the world.

You need to look at your calendar, this is tomorrow. I hope you aren't thawing your turkey today

I will check and see if we have enough industry that has invested an equal amount into our community. Propeller may be what we need to get us to that number. It is our part to invest in the infrastructure to bring them in. The question is are we behind. Meaning we are spending too much and not getting the return expected. It takes time, our economic development is only 2 years old. The issue is that all our resources went into housing developments that has not only failed to give any return, but actually driven us deeper in the hole. You can not get out of this situation by doing nothing

Maybe we can meet up. I usually eat lunch at the dollar a scoop Chinese next to the AT%T store in the Walmart shopping center before or after I go to the antique mall. They get new stuff in all the time so I enjoy just looking. I took a pic of the dancing ladies in the display case to put on my Christmas wish list.

Our economy is based on consumerism. As bad as it sounds the poor consuming is almost a necessity. What we absolutely do not want is 50% of the people in this country in survival mode. That is what we are facing right now. It is absolutely caused by wages being stagnant and not keeping up with the cost of living.

They won't leave. Warren Buffet explained it so well. His kind live for the bottom line. They aren't going away because their taxes go up 5%. When the average person thinks of wealth they think of luxury. His breed treat it as a game. They certainly don't want to see their playground destroyed and they know just how close we came. High taxes destroy the ambitions of those in the 100-500,000 thousand range that are the owners of small to medium size business owners in this country. Those are the people that will throw in the towel the quickest. Jobs are the answer to every problem we

I remember a post of someone looking for an earring tree so I took a pic of them at the value vault. They told me they got a shipment in this week. I have done some Christmas shopping with them already. I can't wait to see what they get in this week! Remember they are open Thur- Sat now. Speaking of jewelry Pat's Apparel has their costume jewelry on sale, the prices are clearance low.

I bet they would, or one of the booth owners might. I am warning you up front that the prices for some of this stuff is very low. So they will need to make some profit on whatever you are looking sell to them.

I have a pretty good idea. But if you have the number I am all ears. I have no objection to any and all facts. We all need to know. We can deal accordingly with truth.

What you and others leave out is one very important fact. We all need to think hard about this. We are a cash society. The majority of people live on postage stamps size lots. Others in condos and apartments. Every inch of land is owned and controlled. People can't live in tents and forage for food. You can't even get clean drinking water without purchasing it or going into a business and using their restroom. We are totally dependent on each other like it or not, it changes the dynamic of how we deal with unemployment, disability, and retirement. During the recession there were times

I am pretty sure that unless otherwise stated like this contract with propeller our taxes pay on bonds. I probably feel different than most folks about what our taxes pay for. I don't mind bonds for infrastructure, purchasing of bank owned land for future commercial development. The water tower and the fire station is fine with me. These are things that will serve us long term and the growth from them is controlled and in areas we want them to be. That airport will grow with or without propeller, more people own planes than you might think and they are not something you park in your drivew

I certainly don't agree with the uncontrolled housing growth. The only reason anyone ever has a job is due to someone's ambitions. It is the same everywhere. There is nothing wrong with ambition and competition. We all need jobs unless we are retired, then most want, no taxes, low cost of living and peace and quiet. That's nice but the world won't work that way.

We are dealing with, the anti growth folks, the anti airport people, and the political enemies of the current administration. At the end of the day you could not have done anything right by these folks. They are entitled to their feelings, their opinions and even the fight they are putting up. I don't believe that even all 3 groups together represent the majority of the people here. I have no issue with it all being laid out in front of the people to decide. I don't like Delta paying for high powered attorneys to represent the people of our county against our local government. We do not ha

I would have been on the how dare you keep it secret side had I not seen the reaction and continued action by Delta and the Mayor of Atlanta. It is obvious to everyone that they will do anything to stop us. Had they known what was up earlier they would have had more leverage. Whitey is at least being honest about his motives rest I am not so sure of.

Jamie would never refer to the citizens of this county as peons. He is not arrogant, he is honest and hard working. His job is to create jobs for the people of this county. He takes his job very seriously. Sometimes he recruits a company and other times members of the community do or in this case the Airport authority. It is his job to know the facts and support all the endeavors. There is no need for you to disrespect Jamie in that way. He comes on here to interact with the citizens and tell them the truth as he knows it. Being disrespectful makes it look like you want to run him off.

My view of it is different, it is not about what people do or don't deserve. Minimum wage jobs have a business model that could care less about what people deserve. The model is based on cheap labor and people that they feel are stupid enough to take their crummy jobs and pay. They disrespect you off the bat for taking the job, then complain about your attitude. Any way it really is about the economy and the impact of over 40% of jobs here being minimum wage and part time at that. It has to be fixed and without manufacturing picking up something has to give. I have been reading some of t

I love this place. Some of you might remember my post about finding the perfect gift there a few weeks ago. It is a good size piece of furniture. You can't really wrap it and put it under the tree. I had thought about one of those bike bags, but they are ugly and no fun to look at for a month. So I had an idea to repurpose some things and make it part of my decorations. I bought this angel doll for less than 10.00 and the material repurposed window curtains for 3.00. I will be replacing the candle she is holding in the next day or so. The material is a skirt that will drape the bar/wine ra

I doubt Delta would need to lay off. They have a lot of very sweet tax incentives. They also have sweet deal on fuel. Their profit margins are very nice. If I am not mistaken the only real competition they have is Airtran. While there is always the chance that the need for a second airport will become so great that we will have a large amount of commercial flights coming in and out of our airport, the goal at this time is manufacturing. We are not a real threat to Delta unless they were planning to expand out here at some future date. The city of Atlanta still owns that land. Instead

I have heard that too, nobody has shown any proof of that yet. I think that is a very strong accusation.
