I like MCMM. I have enjoyed some posts by Thoughts and Feelip on occasion. I have also enjoyed some sparring with SoapMom but it seems we are far better able to communicate in person than online. Many others here I find utterly mean-spirited and impossible to have a reasonable discussion with, no matter how many times I have tried. Those who are "gone" -- I don't miss, but then I don't believe they're really gone, either.

Happy I was able to help. Your daughter sounded great! (P.S. Somebody direct this thread to the Mayberry inbox...)

Damn those hardworking Puritans.

Just for the record, I haven't seen anyone here on either side suggest you weren't an upstanding Christian solely from having a beer or wine on Sunday. Who said that? Theologically, and off topic, I don't really think there is such a thing as an upstanding Christian, in the big moral picture. One of the key ideas is that our righteousness is mucho lame, to throw in a little Spanish lingo.

Re: anecdotes - I do think sometimes people on both sides of this discussion see and remember the reactions they want to see and remember to reinforce their opinion or prejudice on the question. I have seen and know plenty of Southern folks who couldn't give a flip either way, including plenty of Baptists, and I've met plenty of northerners who were every bit as judgmental, narrowminded, and ignorant as the Southerners they love to bash.

I think the point - albeit nuanced - that others are making is that the church doesn't make the idea a law, the legislature does. And just because something aligns with a preference or belief held by a church group doesn't necessarily mean the church's motivation is the sole cause of the law, nor that it is a church/state crisis in the offing. Also, there's no logical reason that a law created in deference to a church-related motivation doesn't actually turn out to have some justifiable merit beyond that. I'm not defending the blue laws, by the way. I just don't think they're the crisis

All laws are an embodiment of some moral decision, based on some moral code. Every law has an "ought" at its core. Just food for thought.

We've been taking condescension lessons from Pat Hughes. Be careful, you may be sexually repressed, too!

Fair enough - I thought they might have their territories spread out and separated like some of the other companies. Welcome aboard to the new folks -- if you are anything like as nice and helpful a person as michegirl, the ORIGINAL Miche Bag retailer in Paulding/Cobb, I'm sure you'll do fine here! It is an excellent product.

I don't have a problem with it either way. I don't really think it's a church/state constitutional crisis, although I would expect some to see it that way. Personally, I wouldn't block a vote on it.
-
Are there two Miche bag distributors in Paulding?

I think it's amazing that these two sentences are adjacent to each other. Pot, kettle, etc. Perhaps it just goes to show that liberals have little understanding of either Fox News, any so-called "conservative narrative," or frankly good journalism in general.

Atlanta Magician Turner - Upcoming Public Shows!

Here's the interview segment. Here's part one - the interview segment. The stage segment will have to wait until I get the dvd. -
I was there for a week-long convention in 2007 or so. I have no desire to go back, but if I am ever forced to do so, I know the best place to eat on South Beach.

It would be delightful to "nuke" a topic from showing up on my listings of recent topics. Eventually, I just reach my limit and don't even want to see the title of the thing again and have to be reminded of the utter nonsense happening behind those words. It is a shame that a person has to ignore entire forums instead of being able to simply flip the switch on individual topics. Talk about your "all or nothing" approach. Ah well. I won't be holding my breath for this gadget to make its appearance on P.com.

P.com needs an 'ignore topic' function. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Man, I wish I could. We will be in Memphis June 17-19. I would love to play that role!

When is the run? Do you still need an acting/singing piano playing guy?

Oh the stupid things Facebook does sometimes...

One of my colleagues died of cancer a few months ago. It was sad, but he was posting inspirational messages and videos on his FB page even as he entered the hospital for the last time. Whenever it pops his name and photo up as one of my friends/fans, or tells me to say hi... I look at his page. It always has a new tribute from someone who has stopped by to leave a note about how his work helped them. I say all that to say this -- the sorrow you feel is real and natural. But there is joy in seeing that the person who has departed left positive changes in people's lives here... and FB -
When I entertain in a strolling environment, I am occasionally offered tips. I try to accept them as a compliment and put them away as discreetly as possible, and never - EVER - try to hustle for them. I know others in my work who use gimmicks and so forth in order to try to "hustle" for tips. I've seen tip jars and worse yet, pins and buttons that have (not very) "subtle" encouragements. I find it très gauche. It is tacky and desperate. Despite what some folks may think, whether on a street corner or on your 1040 form, it is not "generosity" if it is coerced.

Somehow I blew my recording, and cut it off in the middle. If anyone happened to DVR this thing, please put it on a dvd and let me know! -

It's funny every time I see it!
