  1. Truancy is still against the law. When I was in school, we did not go if we were sick. And, NO, we never went to the doctor for illness. We stayed home, got rest, liquids, etc. Got better. Went back.
  2. Hmmmmm. I used to do that, but when I crunched the numbers a few years ago, I discovered it was cheaper for me to buy a new phone every couple years (if I wanted one). But I am curious, is that $45 for unlimited everything, and that is your final bill? (no taxes and fees adding another $5-$10)????
  3. We do 'no-contract, pay by the month' from Walmart. Using Tmobile. Unlimited everything* for $40 a month, each phone. Son has i-phone 5, I have android. We've been doing that plan for a couple of years. Walmart offers the big boys, too: both Verizon and AT%T, by the month. The best thing about the $40 is that there are no other fees or taxes. So the bill is, literally, $40. *the 4g is limited to 100mb then goes to 3g unlimited after that. I have never noticed the change in speed. I use my navigator extensively, i surf the 'net a lot. Also some social media. Pandora. Youtub
  4. That is not crass. That is thoughtful.
  5. Does anyone know anything about North Paulding High? I haven't heard anything and they don't answer their phone (understandably). I'm just wondering how many kids are up there and if they're thinking of sending a bus to get them? If anyone has heard from their child? My child does not have a working cell phone And, as an extension, if anyone has come from that way, do you think I can get there? Or are their cars blocking the way?
  6. gee, there is just a little difference between waiting on the corner for a bus for say, 10 minutes, and leaving an animal out for hours in the night time.
  7. They weren't thinking about the lateness of the hour. They were just nervous and trying to help and put on a good face. Sometimes we humans ask dumb questions in our quest to help or rectify.
  8. National Health care will be handled with the same care as our national retirement plan.
  9. can i take this down if we found someone?
  10. Hey, Not sure where to post this. We have a small (1/4 acre) yard in Cedarcrest corridor (near crossroads). We would like grass cut, edged, blown. Kind of wouldn't mind tomorrow? Or Tuesday morning? This is just a one-time thing . . . Thanks!
  11. I bet he peeked out more than once. But I bet O.J. never peeked out at all
  12. Planning a project is NOT a requirement of Life Scout. I have the handbook in front of me. If you are referring to requirement number four, you should be aware that all he has to do is participate in a service project. He does NOT have to plan it. He can work on someone else's Eagle. That will qualify for his hours. He can go be a den chief for six hours for some cub scouts. That will qualify. There are thousands of ways he can simply serve and get his 6 service hours in. If your leaders indicate otherwise, you can inform the Council. Then save that gardening project for his actual
  13. Actually, further investigation shows that each employee has a choice. They are not required to take their pay in a debit card. They can take a check. Also, the employer pays the same amount to the payroll service. And, if you really examine it, you will find that 'paper' is cheaper to produce than a thick piece of coded plastic. This is a wonderful service the minimum wage employers are beginning to off their employees. It really helps out their employees who often do not maintain a bank account.
  14. I always tell her, "I can only lift it one more time to get it into the car. Will you scan it from the cart, please?"
  15. We have two smart phones and unlimited talk/text/web (unlimited everything). We use the pre-pay. $50 per month each line. No taxes. No fees. No surprises. No contract. Just $50 each. We have one i-phone and one HTC Touch One S I forgot to say, 1) yes, we went prepay with our iphone 2) yes, you can use existing phones with the pre pay 3) dump the contract. go prepay
  16. maybe so. but the whole thread talks about anyone being under 18 is a 'child' and a minor. In fact, I addressed that directly. furthermore, the post to which I was responding said that she had great trepidation in allowing the 16 year old to view the aquarium with a buddy. There are pedophiles at your sister's library? There have been issues with 'them?" More than one? Do they congregate outside? How did she know they were pedophiles? This is alarming and I hope the authorities were notified? Are they locked up yet? Are their names on the pedophile list? Did they get away?
  17. Nobody said they were using the librarian as a babysitter. Had you read the thread, you would see the issue is not picking up your child by closing time. And, of COURSE, the age of the child matters. How can you think otherwise?
  18. Thanks for pointing out how rude I am. I am grateful that you all pointed out the error of my ways. "I am stupid and unusually rude." (my new mantra) Were I to leave my child at the library, I would not expect the librarian to babysit him. Agreed, that is not her job. However, if you bothered to read my response, I would not leave a child who 'needed' babysitting. In other words, as I stated, the child should be mature enough to be left alone. And it takes a quite irresponsible parent not to pick up their child by closing time. I would call DFACS. It is nobody's responsibility
  19. Not really meant to be rude. Just expressing my surprise at the reluctance to allow a 16 year old to look around an aquarium with a friend. It is perfectly natural to wonder if there were extenuating circumstances to such reasoning. And the thread was about leaving one's child at the library. The implication was that she would be reluctant to leave a 16 year old. Furthermore, there was a malignant inference that parents who do leave their children at the library are lacking in judgement. In fact, if you're children are well-behaved and use good judgement, there is no reason why they can't
  20. really? He is 16 and you had doubts about it? Really? Is that because he is 16? Would you have felt the same way if he were 31? Just wondering. Is he unusually tiny? Or mute?
  21. Well done. I knew the Southern states were put in the cross hairs only because we're in the bible belt. Some stereotypes and assumptions are hard for people to let go of.
  22. You seem to indicate that you have definite reasons for believing scouts have pedophiles. I'm sure they do; I'm sure pedophiles are in all walks of life. But you are singling out scouting as the group that you "don't support." Nobody asked for your explanation, so I do not know why you chose to give it. All that was remarked on is that you see 'risks' in scouting. The implication is that you do not see risks at, say, church or school. If so, surely your son does not go to church or school? The whole point was the 'risk' of scouting. He was defending against your attack. You have
  23. That was silly. Who sits around watching their listings? I think someone was just making the point that listing is easy. FYI, you don't have to sit around to see if it sold; a notice will come in your email if your item sells. I agree, it is convenient to pay someone else to do it for you. But not everyone has the money to hire in some convenience.
