  1. I went by this complex yesterday, and let's just say that they are moving on big time.
  2. gone, I would like to make one comment about the money from FAA....if you fly commercial anytime you are paying for this airport and the TSA. The FAA sets aside this tax on flying for both Commercial and General Aviation. It is my understanding that this is not a tax on your income.
  3. I would like to know if these folks appealing the bond decision are paying out of their accounts or the accounts of attorney's or even Delta. Now we will pay and they will pay higher taxes period. So hope all are happy.
  4. Watcher22, have you ever thought, regardless of how you feel, that this situation has a precedent within the courts and been ruled on before and survived appeals. Thought sounds very narrow minded that Austin controls the judge, yes it will be appealed but certainly you do not believe that the judge ruled just for Austin. I would be interested if pubby published it to show you where a case has set precedent and ruled on before...wow
  5. It took about 3,000 voters to vote in a Fire Tax for 2 mils that just pays for personnel for the fire department. Not much published about it but we are pay for it. I guess the public would like to vote on every job posting at the county. I disagree on a lot of things and when the next election is I will vote against the whole bunch.
  6. The SPLOST to be voted on in Rome, will increase the runway by 1000 ft. Note really needed but asked for by corporations with larger jets for insurance certificates so that would make it safer. As pointed out earlier both Budweiser and the bakery for Rice Krispy Treats fly in constantly. A note, Bartow thought that they would get Budweiser but not the closet and straight in to land near the plant. I felt that the ruling would validate the bonds just like the Braves and Cobb County. It probably was in the previous cases that Judge Beavers made this decision. Now we get to pay tax dollars for th
  7. Tundra, I noticed in your post that you made comment concerning Polk and Floyd, that basically how do they do it. Well, let me throw out some thing that you may or may not know. How did the Rome (Atlanta) Braves get a new stadium which in turns pays back to Floyd County? The latest purchase by GP on one of the major plants at Coosa. Now, the most interesting that Paulding County would vote down is a SPLOST that includes an extension of the runway from 6,000 to 7,000 I think about 6 million and the building of about 64 tennis courts near Berry and do I need to go on. They thrive on a stadium t

wHITEY, that was the contract for rental, in my understanding. As the ground leases and fuel sales go up, the total could be up to around $350,000. There was an amount for leasing and this was my understanding. thks.

Whitey, the first meeting was done by rep. earl Earnhardt...with only three folks knowing including the mayor, who was told if you tell the deal is off. Yes, taxes increased such as rental cars and others. Did you know there is a special tax district near Vinings that taxes will go up, sort of like the IBA. They have the Atlanta Ballet and the Catholic Offices of Atlanta. key here is that it is located in Cobb and yes the taxpayers of Cobb are signed on just like these bonds here. I know what you are going to say, who is Propeller...my point is they left out several commissioners, did not know,

Whitey, one point of the Braves and Cobb County...300 million in Bonds with the Braves to pay 6.1 million per year. And, many, many more provisions....a point...there is no difference between Propellar and the Braves. My brother and niece knew nothing of it and one of the homes will have 80 games plus fireworks in there backyard. I personally will take the jets....not the traffic. Only a few about three people knew. Now passed, and moving forward. to me really no difference. My familys commissioner knew nothing...has voted for it. I know what folks will say we take the Braves over and airport.
  11. Sirius, until the laws change on perpetual care locations, and you change the Ga Code as veritas so nicely looked up, I really do not see much changing. I have seen an increase in cremation, and most you will find chose this to save money, even though they would like to use the traditional funeral. What I meant is that if you feel this strongly then you may lobby in Atlanta to change both laws, where cremation is the only way for a family to use. You say you don't have anybody dead, I did not until about 3 weeks ago and the lots were purchased in 1942, and have been just fine for my lifetime.
  12. eym Sirius, wow you are so positive. I am thankful that tomorrow that I do not have your beliefs. I do respect an opinion. The first thing is major laws would have to be changed, and as you have seen with the airport and the Braves you and I really do not have a choice. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, and cannot imagine how much fun will be had tomorrow. I am going to enjoy and relax and if a funeral comes along I am going to stop, if someone wants to be cremated then I respect their wishes. The legislature starts in January and you will be a good lobbyist.
  13. Whatever the law is I am not sure....but I saw an answer one time that related to this...what if this was your mother or grandmother. I feel that the time is worth it...and yes we have billions of folks, but I have the time to pay respect and especially with flags showing a veteran, who defended our freedom...to each his own...if you can live with moving on then do so....
  14. I would also reverse that comment and thank PCHS for being good when EPHS was not. Look, this thing goes in cycles...and the BOE does not support the sports in this county. There are now 11 vacancies in High Schools Coaches, with top coaches looking for the best supported school. We just have never done that and never will. Look at your one school, one county and they are up there every year. I wish that East had won along with South. Just cannot win every game.
  15. Saw a driver get a ticket in Gainesville, and one in Rome for passing or not stopping. I think there is a Ga. Code for passing a funeral procession....
  16. I see where this was not a topic today for airport auth and IBA but found interesting that a Dassault Falcon jet lands just before 7am at this airport and leaves around 12:32pm for another location in Nebraska....rather than give my opinion here is the website for this air freight company...just thought the timing was interesting... www.iflgroup.com
  17. Just flew R/T to Autin for a wedding and had no problems with Southwest. Great fare and service....by the way have we received our $250,000 check for Rent?
  18. Did anyone check the Charter or legal papers setting up the Airport Authority? I did not. Was I able to do what Propeller did, yes, don't have the money. I heard a gentleman say there was nothing here years ago and he wanted things built and now he knows that we have overbuilt. Not one person talks about the houses that we built, that was an industry. The funniest thing I remember is someone buying a home near the dragstrip and then complaining. I think an occasional 737 will be ok....it's to later, except at the next election and 5 years from now if you want them to leave.
  19. Surepip, I agree with you on Courthouse, but there was still some small areas that local vendors sunch as surveyors were not included. I think this company had major problems, but we still proceeded with the Taj Mahal. I hope that the commissioners understand the impact.
  20. Great article.....yes, they could be an asset to this county, but why not stay where they are....they have support in their respective schools...
  21. I did learn something from Blake Swafford, the order of which Propellar Inc. will proceed/1 to try and find a aircraft type company to build here and produce some time of major air parts or planes. 2. Maintenance on Large Aircraft that sometimes run in the cost factor of $1.5 million per aircraft such as a Gulfstream IV or V and 3. was Commercial Aicraft with maybe a frequency of 1 or 2 on different days. Now, with that being said he did not say 45 planes per day taking off via a commercial jet every day. Now, was he telling the truth, only time will tell. The big boys have it now, and we hav
  22. I was just reading about a Town Hall meeting about Obamacare, that is was the law of the land....with that being said Mr. Austin has made Silver Comet Field....law of the land....oh well...
  23. You know I don't lie the traffic from Paulding Meadows, but the word is I deal with it....wait for the weekend to be over and repeat again at 52 weeks. So hopefully young folks learned, and maybe a dollar or two is spent in Paulding....the sun comes up Monday (rain) and we start over again.
  24. I wish I had a video tape and all surroundings of what Mr. Clark did for Jane Austin's mother, and the compliments and caring. David and Jane know this and it is tragic for it to go all down the drain over politics. I wonder what she would have to say, Ms. Pearl was a wonderful lady....there was a lady said that it was illegal for both of them to be Mayor and Commission Chairman, informed her that it was legal....I think truly I have changed my mind....I hope that Mr. Austin will come on here and challenge what Mr. Clark did for their family. Is this personal...maybe, but so is taking away a m
