  1. They haven't moved completely to the new system yet. They are actually running both systems simultaneously. Radio transmissions have been reduced by a good bit because of the MDT's in the Sheriff's vehicles. They are silently dispatched to most calls. Only priority 1 calls go out over the radio, unless a deputy doesn't respond to the MDT dispatch. It won't be too long before they are on the new system completely... and that will indeed prevent most scanners from picking up the transmissions.
  2. The old system is a trunking system. It has nothing to do with trunking, both old and new systems are trunking systems. The new system is digital. The old one is analog.
  3. I understand what you are saying, but that logistically makes no sense. More than likely, the dough is weighted and then rolled in to the size to put in the baking pan. They can take the same amount of dough and roll it out in to a longer piece and come up with a inch bun/roll. They can then, take 2 ounces off the weight and still roll it out to 12 inches and it is unlikely that a customer would ever know the difference. Seems like a silly law suit to me.
  4. No, it won't. The hand held breathalyzer that is used on the scene can be refused. The one you can't refuse is the one that they give you, once they've taken to you jail, which is the "state" test. The hand held units can only provide admissible evidence for positive or negative presence of alcohol. The BAC reading it gives can't be used as evidence... If the officer has reasonable suspicion and the field sobriety test validates his suspicion, they will take you to jail, where they will give you a "State" test. If you refuse the "State" test, then you can/will loo
  5. Good deal! Just keep practicing.. start out slow and work your way up to speed. After you've practiced a little bit, you'll be able to get the speed without jerking the trigger.

Yes, and these same people who don't know if their lights are on or off are the same ones who drive in the rain without them on, drive in the fog without them on, and drive close to dusk without them on. I wish the police would enforce the "headlight" laws more than they do. But the same people who drive without their headlights are probably the same ones talking on their cell phones, eating their meals, reading the paper, and doing their makeup on the way to work. For an automobile to be one of the biggest "tools" for inflicting death and property loss, it is astounding to see

Very few people have "fog" lights. Fog lights are yellow. The lights that many cars have now are "driving lights." They are to illuminate the road in front of your headlights. They are intended to be used all the time with low beams. Some vehicles have a switch that you can turn them off... and some vehicles you can't turn them off.
  8. It may not change your answer, but it can and often does change a drunk persons answer. A large percentage of time, when a police officer asks a person suspected of DUI how many beer they have had, the most common initial response is 2. They ask several times, there is a high probabilty that that story will change, because the person (if drunk) doesn't remember the answer they gave to the officer.
  9. Yep, that is the difference... Years ago, they didn't plane the wood, it was cut at the saw mill and that's what was used to build houses. Now, wood that is cut at the saw mill is called "rough cut." The wood you buy at Home Depot has been planed and sanded to make it straight and smooth. It starts out life as "rough cut" 2x4's at the mill, but then goes through the planing and sanding. The "chips" and sawdust from the planing and sanding are usually saved and that's what particle board and MDF 'plywood' is made from...
  10. 2x4's are called 2x4's because that's what they were in rough cut form. They are then planed down to make them straight and smooth, which takes off the extra material. If you look at almost any restaurant, they have discrepancies in food and it's for the same reason a finished 2x4 really isn't 2" x 4". If you buy a "quarter pounder" at McDonalds and weigh it, it will not weigh 1/4 lb. BEFORE it was cooked, it weighed a 1/4 lb. They always clarify this by showing "pre-cooked weight." I'd never paid much attention to Subway's ads or their signage in the stores, but it's com
  11. I guess it depends on which "Trigger" they are claiming. There was not just one Trigger. The original Trigger was born before the registry, but there were several Triggers over the years. It could be they picked one of the later ones and just adopted "Trigger" the name and specific look, more so, than the actual animal. On another note, I can't believe there hasn't been a mention of The Lone Ranger. He was one of my childhood favorites. I actually got to meet Clayton Moore. I was on a flight from Los Angeles to Dallas/Ft. Worth back in the 80's. As I sat in my seat, I
  12. According to Palomino Horse Breeder's Association, Trigger was registered. "The Palomino Horse Association Inc., another international Palomino registry, has a long history of activity in Pennsylvania. PHA registers Palominos of all breeds and types based on color. Some very famous Palominos including Mr. Ed, Trigger, and Trigger Jr. were registered in PHA. For more information on the PHA and its activities contact The Palomino Horse Association, Inc." 13. Hell on Wheels was great! I was kind of unsure as to the future of it, the way the last season ended. Are they bringing it back for another season so Bohanan can come back to finish up the railroad?
  14. First off, excellent post! Second, your problem is one of two things. You are jerking the trigger or you are tightening your fingers while pulling the trigger. In most cases, people who are out of practice, jerk the trigger. The pad of your pointing finger should be comfortably on the flat of the trigger. Many people put the finger on the trigger, all the way up to their knuckle joint, which will pull more right. Just relax, take a deep breath, and gently pull the trigger back, nice and smooth and it will straighten your shot right out. On a follow up shot (with a pistol), only
  15. I would reconsider this... If they leave their house and the guy is in fact casing the places, the first thing he is going to notice is that there isn't any vehicle or people activity in that house and it could increase the chance of a burglary. I certainly understand that personal safety is a concern, but I don't think I'd pack up and leave. Just keep a vigilant eye out and let all the surrounding neighbors know of this guy. I would also ask the Sheriff's Office to put your neighborhood on "zone patrol." Just something to consider...
  16. Definitely some of the greats! John Wayne was a big man... James Arness was another giant. I think he was something like 6'7".
  17. Thank you for your input, troll. Have a nice day.
  18. The PHBA was formed sometime in the 30's, I think. Trigger's father was a Tennessee Walker, but his mother was not... can't remember off hand what she was... I remember when I saw Trigger at the museum in Victorville, before they hauled if off somewhere else, they had his full bio and heritage on a plaque next to his mount. He was registered as a "Golden Palomino" with the PHBA and was a stallion. Roy had several Triggers over the years... 5 or 6, if I remember right.. All of the Triggers were bred from the original and the offspring... Trigger Jr. was indeed a Tennessee Walker,
  19. It's kind of an odd thing, actually. They are indeed a breed and they are a registered breed. The PHBA (Palomino Horse Breeders of America). Their mission: This Association was organized for the purpose of providing for the registration, preservation of purity of blood, and improvement in breeding of Palomino horses; and to keep, maintain, and publish in a suitable form the history, record and pedigree thereof. Palomino Horses Magazine and the PHBA Rule Book are the official publications of this Association. There are divisions of the Palomino breed, in which would normally be
  20. No, he wasn't... Trigger was a palomino. "Trigger Jr." was a Tennessee Walker... and he wasn't related at all to Roy Roger's Trigger.
  21. Call the Sheriff's office and ask to speak with Lt. Morris. She is in charge of the school resource program. She might be able to help you.
  22. I agree 100% on part store parts. Compared to factory parts, they are junk. There is a good reason why factory parts cost what they do.... they last. One other note about retarding the timing. Doing so too much increases exhaust temps and causes the converter to get hotter than normal, which can reduce the life of the converter a good bit.
  23. Until she is old enough to have a pistol, I suggest a good high quality pepper spray. I rarely suggest this next item, because contrary to popular belief, it's actually a poor choice for home defense... If she will be living away from home and she/you would really feel more secure with her having access to a firearm, get her a small 20 gauge shotgun, pump or side by side with the shortest barrel you can find (legal minimum is 18 1/2"). A 20 gauge is a nice light shooting shotgun that she should be able to handle. Teach her to shoot it and how to protect herself in a residence..
  24. "It's based on the consumer price index." That's what GCAF states. I'm guessing the average the repair prices of several different price ranges of vehicles and average it to get the index. That's speculation, but seems only logic. Then again, it's government... very little is logical.
