News flash! That is every industry! You have to pretty much be over bearing and relentless. You have to prove to them that hiring you is not a good choice.. it's the BEST choice. Employers like aggressiveness when people are trying to get a job. It shows them that they have ambition and want to work and be productive. If you are told, we are looking for more experience...and you just walk off and accept it, you're never going to get a job. I don't mean to harass them and make threats, but never take an initial "no" for an answer... You have to sell yourself.

First off, I am not handing judgement down on what you do for your family to get by. Read what I wrote. I said that I have seen A LOT of people not do what it takes to get by. I did not say that you were not, did I? By what you wrote, YOU are not the type of person I was referring too. Please RE-READ my post.. the type of person I was referring to is pretty well defined. It is pretty funny though... how all these people are having such a hard time finding work... yet my wife is a head hunter and she has problems keeping positions filled. She staffs everything from technical eng

You just proved my point. He was doing everything he could to keep his family afloat. That is NOT the type of person I would be talking about.
  4. Might want to re-think this... it's not about kids or pets... From experience I can tell you... You put the poison out and the rat eats it. The rat then goes back in to your crawl space and dies. You are unaware of the rat dying, so it stays under there for a week or so... then it starts to smell as decomposition sets in. That smell will permeate your house. Once it gets to the point that you can smell it... it's too late. You'll have to find the decomposing corpse and get rid of it. The smell is a disgusting and horrible smell that takes WEEKS and WEEKS to dissipat

You're right, it doesn't mean they are sitting on their asses eating bon bon's collecting government checks, BUT it doesn't mean they are doing ALL they can to survive either. I have seen time and time again, all these people complaining that they just can't get by and it's all they can do to survive and pay the bills. Yet, they still have cable Tv/satellite. They are paying (or not) for luxury vehicles, when they could sell them for a vehicle with a lesser payment or a reliable used vehicle. They still go out to dinner at the steakhouse on Friday nights... or a movie. They will
  6. Hey Postman... Serious question. Please answer truthfully. What kind (Brand) of vehicle do you have? If more than one, list all brands, please. I'm just curious.
  7. At a place like WalMart? Why? They are performing a service for you. They keep money on hand so that you can cash your check. They have one of their employee's, which they are paying, do labor to service you. Then, they have to turn around and process your check and HOPE that it doesn't bounce and cost them any more than the basic labor. They provide a retail service... you pay for it.

We had a more stringent policy in place... but guess what? Our current administration (Obama) put a stop to it. I didn't care for Bill Clinton much, but one thing he did right was to put a 2 year cap on Welfare. That was dissolved by our current president.

Well here's a thought... teach people from an early age to take responsibility for themselves and learn more than one trade to begin with. WAY too many people have one skill and when that skill is not employable anymore, is when they run in to problems. I don't have that problem... and I know of at least one or two people on this board who don't have that problem.
  10. It's not crazy, it's just a tactic. They could care less where you are going or where you are coming from. They want to see how you react to the question. If they ask you that question and you start bobbliing for an answer, it's a clue to them that something isn't right. If you answer with a straight answer, whether it be where you are going or "sir/ma'am, no disrespect, but that's none of your business... Here's my license and insurance..." then they will check your license and send you on your way. They are looking to see how people react... as it's very easy to clue in
  11. If you belong to a credit union, you don't have to cash your check at YOUR credit union. Most all credit unions are intertwined and work with each other. I can go to a credit union that is not my own and deposit money in to my account at my own credit union. They are MUCH better than banks. There's a Lockheed facility in Hiram.
  12. I've always heard Whompy-Jawed.... never heard Whooper-Jawed before...
  13. If it's private property, there's nothing you can do about it. If it's on county right of way, call the Marshal's office.
  14. If she has a condition that causes her to not be able to control herself and has circumstances where she just has to go at a moments notice.... she should have taken proper measures. Ever heard of Depends? There's a reason they make products like that.
  15. If you wanna hear some good ones, watch Lizard Lick Towing on TruTV and listen to Ronnie's sayings... My favorite one is: "He's nuttier than a porta-potty at a peanut festival."
  16. I don't think anyone "wants" them to die. But having concern for people who put others in danger is not going to happen with me. I don't wish death on anyone, but I am sure going to be more concerned about the family heading home or the mother and her child that are affected, rather than some dumbass irresponsible moron who acts like this on a public street. I've been riding for about 23 years now. I absolutely despise these idiots who ride on public streets like this... ...and if I were to roll up on an accident that was caused by one of these jackasses, they would be the
  17. :drinks: The most respected and most feared fighting force in the world, the United States Marines WILL get the job done! Semper Fi!
  18. "What would Jesus do?" He would tell us to turn the other cheek. Ok, we did that. Now, the question is... "What would Harry Truman do?"
  19. OMG, you just stated the bad words! Personal responsibility?!?! Be prepared to be chastised! You're going to get all kinds of responses that "some people can't afford to get trained" or "some people can't afford to go back and learn something new".... and the excuses, but initiative to do something to better their lives. These are the people who drag society down. The idea that you are were you are at in life because of choices you made is so foreign to these people. They don't want responsibility, they want the security of the government. They want and think they deserve
  20. Yeah, that makes sense... my mind was kinda thinking that 'we' are standing inline at a fast food restaurant. I've done the same thing for military... and law enforcement, especially if I know they restaurant doesn't give discounts to them. For what they do... the very least I can do is pick up their tab.
  21. Depends on the circumstances. If you have a company cell phone or other property, they can absolutely hold it until you return their property. If they have gone out of business and don't have any money, they aren't withholding it... they simply don't have it. This is a good idea!
  22. If I remember right, the law is actually pretty open... it allows for a lot of loop holes. I believe it says, for the curfew to apply, the 'child' has to be loitering or be unruly... or something to that affect. It does not apply if the child has the permission of the parent or is actually engaged in something that is not considered loitering or unruly conduct.
  23. That's my point.... if you don't know what they are going to order, how are you going to pay their bill when you are ahead of them. I guess I can see it in a drive-thru where the person behind you has already ordered and the cashier can pull up the order right after yours... I guess I don't see how it could happen outside of a drive-thru... Either way, it's always cool when people do things like this anonymously just to make someone's day...
  24. License or not... they should be locked up for reckless endangerment if they are pulling wheelies and excessive speeding. Having a license should play no role in their action while riding. No license is just an extra charge to hit them with. I despise idiots like this because as a whole, society groups them in with those of us who are responsible riders.
  25. That's great. I had someone do that for me a while back... I told the cashier "thank you" and told them they could pass it off to the next person, who may not be quite as able to afford it, as I was... But, I have always wondered how this actually works. How does someone in front of you pay for you if they don't know what you are going to order? When it happened to me, I was thinking to myself, ok... a regular cup of coffee or a full value meal...what did the person pay for?
