  1. You might as well save your breath. I've had this debate so many times. "You simply cannot live and support a family like that..." is the answer you get. Funny, because I've done it and apparently, you've done it... not too shabby for something that "CAN'T" be done, huh? It's hard and it sucks, but it CAN be done, *IF* you are truly concerned about your family and surviving and willing to do what it takes to do so. The problem is, a lot of people AREN'T willing to do what's necessary and want the government to take care of them because they made poor choices in life.
  2. Who said anything about either of those? In one breath, you say nothing is impossible and in another breath you state that it's impossible for the camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Which is it? Oh wait, you don't understand the analogy... so you can't answer the question with any sense. Funny... I've crossed the water in my boat on several occasions... quite safely, I might add.
  3. I said nothing about anything being impossible. You really don't understand what you said, do you? And yes, there are quite a lot of things that are impossible. At this point in time, it is impossible for a human to travel faster than the speed of light. It's impossible for a human to fly in earths gravity without the aid of some means of mechanical assistance. No, Murphy's Law states that "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong." Hmmm... did you not JUST say ??? It's actually quite possible. You just have to be intelligent enough to figure out how to do it.
  4. Maybe it's just that you don't understand the written language. Think about what you wrote. "It's EASIER for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle..." It doesn't say that it's Impossible If you would quit blabbering and actually take time to read what you post and actually think about it, you might sound a little more intelligent.
  5. I don't guess anyone mentioned this about liquid nails.... It really won't work well for 1/4 round to begin with. It's VERY rare that you are going to get a good straight piece of molding. If you were to try to use liquid nails to hold it, it simply wouldn't hold. The bow in the 1/4 round would pull away from the baseboard, unless you sat there and held it against the baseboard until the liquid nails sets up. Liquid nails is rarely ever a good choice for the primary means of adhesion. It's a good secondary means in some instances... but not for floor molding.
  6. Pretty much, directly in front of Rodney's BBQ. Another little bit of trivia for you... The wreckage of the airplane is buried under the soccer fields at Braley Park... which used to be the county landfill.
  7. We've been going to the Olive Tree for years. Their first place was over on Thorton Rd beside Dunkin Donuts... We were really missing them once we moved from Cobb to Paulding... then they opened their Villa Rica location and we celebrated. Then came the Hiram location and it just made it that much better. I have never had bad food or a bad experience at any of the three locations.
  8. Depends on what you want out of it. I'm all for donating it to charity, BUT there's two things... They aren't going to fix it.. it will cost them more than it's worth to them. They will likely put it in an auction and get a few hundred dollars for it 'as is'. You'll get a small tax deduction. If you are looking for the tax deduction, it's not much. Chances are, it won't even put you in a lower bracket. Second... Just sell it with a blown engine. Obviously, you won't get as much for it as it's blue book value, but you should be able to get $500-$800 cash of out it for someone
  9. You generally don't approach someone in a nice way when they are endangering the lives of innocent people with foolish and reckless acts of conduct. If you are one of "those" bikers, why do you insist on breaking the law to an extent that it could seriously endanger someone? Nobody cares if you want to go out an ride wheelies and 'have fun' on a closed course or race track... but when you do it on public streets and endanger the lives of innocent people, you're not going to be met with kindness. You're not going to be looked at lightly from other motorcyclists either because tho
  10. +1 on the Roku. There are a lot of people who have completely replaced cable tv/satellite with a Roku box and only watch TV from the internet now.

I was responding directly to what she said to me. What she wrote was edited out, as I assume what I wrote back, will be. Apparently, what she said got edited before you read it. She deserved what she was called.

Yep! It's all about how you organize your priorities. Like I said, I spent many meals eating Ramen noodles and drinking water. Hamburger? Nope, not during those times. A few times during that 'poor' time that we faced, we had a little meat... A couple of trips hunting and I was able to put a deer or turkey on the table. Several times I have had to put lake caught fish on the table. It's a long way from a filet mignon, but it sure beats Ramen noodles every day. At least they make different flavors. We had sold our 2nd car and we were riding together to work. She went to work e

I don't need to know what you've survived. You've pretty much stated it by saying it cannot be done. I know from what you've posted that you're not responsible enough to take responsibility for your own actions and that you want the government to take money away from other people to pay for the ones who can't. I apparently am not so stupid, because I've been able to survive in situations that YOU say a person can't. You know NOTHING of survival. You couldn't survive your way out of a damn paper sack.

You are simply full of sheeze. It CAN be done and it has been done. I've done it. You are where you are in life, soley because of the choices you make. I'm sorry you can't accept that and it's because you can't accept it is why you would never be able to survive in the situations being discussed. You should REALLY learn to read. Nobody is against handouts and nobody is against being helped. Had you read what I have written, I've said many times that I am first to donate to charity and help out those in need. The role of the government is not to rob of those who have a

No, I don't compare everything to my life. I compare a lot of things to my life and what I have experienced as well as those around me who've had the same attitude. Without the attitude of surviving and doing anything within legal means to support myself and my family, that's where a lot of people fail. They simply do not have that attitude. If you haven't been there... how can you say that it can't be done? I will do ANYTHING (legally) to ensure my family is fed, clothed, and have a roof over their head. ANYTHING else is a luxury. It's hard and it's rough, but you have to

Bullcheeze! I've done it and so have many other people. Because YOU can't find the discipline to make it happen doesn't mean it can't happen. It wouldn't be if you'd take the government out of the picture! Stop taxing the hell out of people and giving it to the lazy and let the people CHOOSE what charity to give their money too and the people who TRULY need it will be provided for... The providers raise the cost to us because of the people who take advantage of the system! You're damn right I know. My mother fought cancer. Guess what, she didn't ask for

Are you calling the correct type of temp agency? Some deal only with technical, others deal with only 'blue collar', etc. Not directed at you... just adding to what I've stated... My wife runs one of these places and she's telling me all the time she can't get people to work. Like I said before, people will refuse work because it's not what they want. My wife offers warehouse work to people all of the time, making $12/hr. She gets refused because they are holding out of an office job that pays better. It's quite obvious these people are not too concerned about surviving. I kno

...and they wonder why nobody wants to hire them! If I go in to an interview and I am firm about what I can do for you. If I am currently out of work, I could care less what my vacation and sick time allowances are... My first and foremost concern is to get you to give me a job... My next concern is to make you not worry about if you made the correct decision in hiring me. I work my ass off and prove to you that you made a good hire and have a loyal employee and that I am bringing home a paycheck that will help keep my head above water. All other things are secondary in nature.

I believe most job hunting experts and assistants tell you to send in your resume whether you meet the minimum requirements or not, because a lot of employers will put the top level skills they would like to have and not necessarily what they need. The Department of Labor will tell you this also. What you described with the AutoCAD and such is one of the problems. People see a job and that it pays well... and they unrealistically think they have potential to get a job with no education or skill in that arena. A lot of people either have no common sense or too much pride to star

Horse crap again! If I owned a $35,000 vehicle and it's a year or two old, I can EASILY get $29,000, give or take a few thousand, out of it. If you can't, you're not very bright. See the thread above where Mr. Dis stated that he got $28,000 for a vehicle he paid $33,000 for... Please share with everyone where I said ANYTHING about getting a car loan? If you'd read what was said, instead of trying to turn it around... I said that these people with these high dollar vehicles and NO MONEY, can sell their vehicle and purchase another reliable used vehicle of less money. For so

Where did I say anything about welfare recipients owning vehicles like that? I didn't. But even so, there are MANY people who have been out of work for a long time and are complaining about their money situation... yet they are driving vehicles, like this, still paying for other luxuries that can be done without. The point is that there are many things you have sacrifice FIRST before you can even be serious about asking for help.

Have you tried calling some temp agencies or head hunter services? I have rarely seen someone turned down for a job if they are really willing to work. It might not be what you want, but it's a paycheck, which is better than nothing.

Well, as you stated, you don't like it. Other people do. If one way doesn't work... try the other. Giving up and saying "I just can't find a job" is not the answer, in either case.

That's funny... I have three vehicles that I have never showed a pay stub to purchase. That statement is a load of crap. If I own a luxury vehicle worth $35,000 and times get hard, I can sell it for what I can get out of it. Let's say I get $29,900. I can take that money right down to any dealer and purchase a $5,000 used car with no paycheck stub, no credit check... nothing. I hand them the money and they process the title. You are correct on trade. It's illegal to trade an automobile. By law, it has to be sold for a minimum of $1.
