  1. Just an FYI about the Kennesaw law... I'm guess not too many people have actually read the law. The law itself, does no more to prevent crime than my AR-15 with it's 30 round magazine, sitting in my closet, had anything to do with the CT shootings. The law in Kennesaw is for show, period. Yes, the law states that every head of household must own a firearm, but it has so many exemptions that it basically says, (paraphrasing) "If you are the head of the household, you are required by law, to own a firearm. UNLESS, something such as your religion, medical condition, or you
  2. It certainly does get his feathers ruffled... and quite easily at that. Usually, that is indicative of ignorance of the subject or youth with something to prove and nothing to prove it with. Yep, you got me figured out. Funny, because in the pat 30 minutes, I cooked a hamburger and some fries and have been having lunch. But, yep, you got me figured out. Carry on.
  3. First, it's "pretentious" and second, for someone who has done nothing but bitch about gun control, why is it that you are even in on the discussion? Second, the "this is my rifle..." is not a poem. It's a creed. Third, the "this is my rifle..." is the creed of the United States Marines, NOT the US Navy SEAL's. Care to show your pompous ignorant ass anymore?
  4. Not really... it makes people think you don't know what you're talking about, whether you do or not. The term "clip" is used kinda like "busta cap." It started being 'popularly' used back when being 'gangsta' was cool and became something to say to be "cool." People who are regularly around firearms and shoot, as well as, those in the industry hear someone call it a "clip" and the first thing they think of is, "they need a little bit of training." Anyone that knows anything about a firearm will know what you are talking about if you say "magazine."
  5. Taurus semi-auto's at best, are mediocre and I would NEVER trust one as a personal self defense gun. I have shot too many of them and see too many others that simply jam for no reason. Taurus makes some pretty nice revolvers, of which I have a few, and a rifle/shotgun based off the Judge platform. They still are not S&W or Ruger quality firearms, but I've never seen a Taurus revolver fail from poor design/workmanship. A Glock is not the finest weapon out there, but they are most definitely one of the top of the line, daily use, most reliable, pistols out there. There is absolu
  6. Horse crap! Someone that hell bent on killing the masses would have simply placed a 5lb or 50lb keg of black powder at the back of a school house, lit a fuse and blew the whole damn building up, with the people in it.
  7. "You're missing the point." I'm not trying to poison the well. You refuse to see the valid comparison with the law. Before 9/11, knife and gun laws in a given environment were not the same. After 9/11, knife and gun laws (of possession) in a given environment are equal. Since being equal, there have still be issues with knives being carrying past their legal boundary and no matter what you do, you WILL NOT stop a criminal from passing that legal boundary. The ONLY difference in an airport with knives and a school with guns (law-wise) is that the airport has manual security th
  8. ...and further more, I do not have a love affair with guns. Anyhow... I'm turning in for the night. I'm going to go kiss my .44 mag goodnight and place her gently on the pillow next to me.
  9. And just why do we have to stop our enjoyment of firearms? I have more firearms that most police agencies. I enjoy shooting them and teaching folks about them. I have NEVER had ANY of my guns kill anyone. I have never killed anyone. I HAVE had what I believe them to save my life a couple of times. I love to target shoot and I love shooting in competitions. Nothing I do with my firearms are illegal nor threatening to anyone, other than someone who wishes to do me or my family harm. No, we don't need to stop the 'love affair' with guns and violence. The rest, I agree with you on.
  10. Society didn't GIVE him anything. HE STOLE THEM!!!!! It doesn't matter how many have been prevented. They are restricted in airports beyond the security gates. Technically, they ALWAYS have been. Knifes 3" or larger and razor knives have always been banned. After 9/11, they expanded that to ALL knives and razors. The law already has procedure for this same thing in schools. Guns are already illegal on ANY government property or school, just as knives are illegal past security in the airport. If you want to compare apples to apples, then put security in the schools and
  11. I'm not being rational? Last time I checked, murder is murder. You made the statement, I proved you wrong. Period. And while the hi-jackings haven't happened again, there have been NUMEROUS times that people have gotten through security and even on airplanes with firearms and knives. So, yeah, it's working REAL well there. Increasing gun restrictions WILL NOT make sure another can't do it. They will simply find another way. They will create pipe bombs. The will load vans or cars with explosives. Evil people are that. No amount of regulation on firearms will change
  12. That is about the dumbest remark you have made to date. #1. The killings were NOT from the plane. ALL deaths are from lack of oxygen to the brain. Period. The plane itself did not kill anyone. It was used, as the box cutters were, as a tool for the hi-jacking. Why haven't we outlawed civilians from flying airplanes? Do you think they would have taken over the plane without those knives? And no, we haven't outlawed knives. They are not allowed on airplanes. They are still legal to own and possess. Guns are not outlawed. Guns are NOT allowed within 1500ft of a school,
  13. Yes, he does. He's a deputy.
  14. Sorry, but that is totally false. Do you not remember 9/11/2001? The airplanes were hi-jacked with box cutter knives. While not the direct cause of death, the knives were most certainly involved in the deaths. 2001 Ikeda Elementary School, Japan. Former school janitor entered the school and stabbed to death 8 children and seriously wounded 13 others and two teachers. 2012 China Man walks wielding an axe, walks in to a daycare and kills 3 kids and wounds 13 others. 2008 Seoul, Korea 5 people stabbed to death, 7 others wounded (4 seriously). 2008 Sitka, Alaska 4 dea
  15. No, they are not banned. They are regulated. Anyone with a clean background can apply for and get a class 3 firearms permit and pay $200 per firearm tax, and buy fully automatic weapons any time they want. I have plenty of 30 round MAGAZINES and I have absolutely no plans to go on a shooting rampage any where or any time, and I never have. It takes less than 1.5 seconds for the average person to be able to change a magazine in most semi-automatic weapons. Do you think you could charge across the room and stop him in that amount of time? So? Is that simply not p
  16. I remember the old George Reeves Superman tv shows. The bad guy would be shooting at Superman and bullets would be flying and ricocheting off his chest. The bad guys gun would run dry and he'd throw it at Superman... and Superman would duck. LOL!
  17. I have one in .40 that I take deer/turkey hunting, as a "just in-case/snake" gun. They are decent guns... a little on the cheap side. Fires good, pretty accurate... Built VERY similar to a Glock. They have VERY heavy trigger systems though...
  18. Yes... that was my point. I believe I stated they are making them in multiple calibers. I would never buy a 10mm though... too hard to find ammo for. 10mm is nothing more than a longer .40 cal (the use the exact same bullet)case. It has a slightly hotter load. I'll stick with my .45.
  19. I agree with your sentiment, but we are NOT a democracy. We are a Republic.
  20. I would give Adventure Outdoors a call to see if their range has one. I haven't been inside their range yet, so I don't know how many rentals they have on hand, but it might be a good place to try. Being that you said you have large hands, that Ruger will probably be a good fit. The Ruger semi-autos are nice thick guns, compared to other manufacturers equivalents. The SR9C is a nice pistol and has gotten a lot of good reviews.
  21. Some of the really big ranges might, but most ranges are gonna have a selection of about 10-15 guns. The more popular selling ones, like Glock 17's & 19's, a couple of 1911's, and a few revolvers. Every so often, you'll see a pocket gun, like a SIG 238 or a S&W Bodyguard up for rent, but not very often. They generally only rent out the most popular guns that sell... If they have a gun on the rack that someone only rents every so often, they don't make their money back on the gun... There is one thing any gun store will not do and that is take a loss on any firearm they sell.
  22. +1 Same for me... I think most all of the 'older' crowd likes the .45's. It's the newer generations that want the 9's and .40's. The age old question... "Why do you carry a .45?" Answer: "Because they don't make a .46!"
  23. Unfortunately, no, they don't. Once it's fired by an individual, after the factory test fire, it has to be considered used. If someone test fires it and doesn't like it, the dealer just instantly lost money. Many shooting ranges/dealers have rental guns with the most popular purchased firearms that you can rent and fire before buying a new one. That works if they are renting the gun you are looking for...
  24. Actually, he specifically stated a Springfield 1911 and no, most people are buying those in 9mm and .40's, with the 9mm's being the most desired. That is why Springfield 1911's are so popular right now... They are MUCH less expensive than their counterparts and they are plentiful in other calibers, than .45. I personally prefer the .45, but it's a handful for a lot of people. That's why Springfield has been making them in smaller calibers.
  25. The 1911 is not just a .45. The 1911 started out life as .45 and has been most popular as such, but can be purchased in .22LR, 9mm, .40, and .45. It should also depends on what he is most comfortable with, which is another reason you don't purchase a firearm for someone else. If the gun doesn't fit the shooter and is comfortable, it's a wasted purchase.
