I love sweet tea and this place has consistantly lousey sweet tea. I keep trying but generally wind up going back to a soda. I love the Cajun Pasta though.

And they were both legitimate well wishes. Bbut basically in two different languages. I thought it was at like 12:00 AM this (Friday morning). You weren't a day late. Ok, yup, you were. Oh well.

I'm not sure you got the point.

100 Watt Incandescent Bulb Phase Out About to Begin
nschur replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Regardless of what the politicians do or did to the bulb the fact remains that the companies had already started doing what businesses do. They saw the end due to BIG GOVERNMENT and started planning way in advance. Scheduling factories to be shut down and employees moved or let go. It matters not what the people wanted. And when the end date was reopened it was already too late for those businesses. Overseas manufacturers will begin production with their people and they will be the ones supplying the bulbs to those here that still want them. The market will always determine what people want, n -
Nope not defending anyone. I guess you must have missed my very first sentance didn't you. let me say it again. Sometimes in the business world it is just better to cut your losses. End of story. And in this market RENTING is not always a viable option. I only posted the additional information for those folks that did not understand the concept of what was being discussed. Just so you know there is a difference between defending something and saying that you UNDERSTAND the concept and see the merits as well as the flaws. walks away rollying eyes and shaking head

Right or wrong (which this is) it is just plain good business sense. I know of many folks that have looked at this concept. All agree, and mostly for those that were in the higher end homes. let's look at one home up in Senators Ridge. Those homes were at about $300k in 2007. If you bought one at that time and paid that price with little down. This last year a family member bought one of the larger homes in there for $140k. Now they did keep the old home and are renting it out so they did not walk away. They are now in the same subdivision as the person who is paying for that $300k home at les

Check snopes. I had the same thought on Nova as you did until I looked it up a few months back. Nova IA not a word at all. No VA means no go. And it does not mean crazy or stupid either.

I had a 1981 200SX. It had the big "D" on the hood still but the manual had "Datsun by Nissan" written on it. What a GREAT car that was! I bought it in Jan. of 85 and sold it in Dec. 1999. A couple of clutches and alternators plus a Tranny rebuild due to a snap ring failure. I drove it in to the shop showed the guy the metal I had pulled out including a fragmented snap ring. He asked where the tow truck was and couldd not believe that I drove it in with no problems. All that told me that there was a problem was a whooshing sound you could here coming froom the tranny at idle speeds with the wi

Well duh... but from you that is the pot calling the kettle black. And that was my whole point. From the word go in this topic (which was about SCALE COMPRESSION) you have argued against it basing your sole arguement on the fact that there was no "legal definition" of the earnings on either end of the middle class earnings spectrum. That is the most ludicrous arguement of this whole thread as we all know that there is going to be a point where someone's earnings transition one from Poor to Middle class to Wealthy no matter how you look at it. You are the one being purposely obtuse and defying
-
Let me make sure I understand you. There is no middle class as it has not been defined by law. Therefore the poor and wealthy do not exist either since there is no legally defined lower or upper boundary of the middle class. Got it. We no longer have any poor to support which is a good thing because we no longer have any rich to take from. PIBO is just playing to his base about taxing the rich because there are none. Air does not exist either because there is no legally defined descriptive setting that says it is 21% Oxygen, 0.04% Carbon Dioxide with the remainder being composed mainly of

Did he do it willingly or with a smile on his face? Or was it just the most expiditious and reasonable thing to do?
-
1. If PIBO had his way, do you think for just 1 instant that those wealthy folks making around $200 - 250k would not have seen their taxes go up? Nope didn't think so... That means he did and still does consider them wealthy. 2. Technically Congress presents the President with a BILL and then the PRESIDENT signs it into law. Unless there is a 2/3 majority in both houses, in which case they can overide his veto and the bill becomes law anyway. 3. When discussing the middle class, it is entirely irrelevent as to where a lower or upper middle class person's wages fall. They are still co

The part that really gets me is when you show them EXACTLY where the data came from and that it was NOT arbitrary and THEN they still want to argue that it was arbitrary. You know it is kinda like having a disagreement about whether it was 12 AM or PM while in a Windowless room. You say it is PM they say it is AM. You take them outside and show them the sun shining directly overhead. Instead of saying you were right they then say, "well it is 12 AM on the other side of the planet so I was right".
-
You have either been living under a rock, are a bold faced liar are much less intelligent than I ever imagined. http://money.cnn.com...rtune/index.htm So can we now put the matter to rest that PIBO has set this mark as at the most you can earn before HE considers you wealthy? And since Biden (His own VP) gave it as $200k then it could be construed as it was indeed his boss' policy / definition as well. But like I said, PIBO's administration just keeps changing it so I really have no idea what their current definition is but I DO KNOW that at most it is $250k. In a topic about t

Oh yeah EMS, I almost forgot. That $45,000 number came from that NPR link that your buddy Zoo posted and we know she NEVER posts anything but the truth and facts based by reputible sources. So BEFORE you start jumping all over me, how about you jump on Zoo's case if you have a beef with the numbers that we have been discussing here.

I always thought of this as more of a government mandated / controled / run insurance payment. I know it is not paid to a private company and it does go into a fund controled by the government. Sort of like SS but only as a means of insuring employees maintain a bit of earning ability if they are laid off, fired without cause or if the company goes out of business. Am I looking at this wrong? This is not a true tax any more than SS or MC. Call it a Payroll tax if you like but it has a dedicated purpose and a receipiant. It is not just supposed to be collected and used at the sole descretion of

As I stated earlier, the 200 / 250 numbers that you assert are made up, come directly from PIBO and you know it. He just refuses to come right out and say so. But he did say he wanted to raise taxes on the rich making over that amount. The only deductions that one can make from his comments is that the rich, according to PIBO, make that much or less. So for all we know PIBO may believe that anyone making over $100k is rich. But by his statement anyone in the $200 - 250k range is most definately rich. He is your choosen one, not mine. He said it not me. And he most certainly DID say it or are

The original post only used "they" as to point to WHOEVER it was that was moving the defined level of "poor" to that new amount. So you could not argue with the point I was making so you tried to obfuscate the issue by nit picking a typical daily speech pattern for most folks in the US. Granted in a Technical Research paper or report on the subject, the term "they" would have already been clearly defined or had the actual person or group in its place. But the last time I looked here, I was neither writing a paper like that nor being paid to present a professional level research project. Your

Well talk to your beloved leader. He is the one (with Biden's help) that just can not seem to make a decision on that part. And THEY are the ones that make it impossible for us to actually determine what the actual number is. But Hey... WTG EMS with all that smoke you are deliberately blowing many will have a hard time actually understanding the debates here with all your Obfuscation. The same with you arguing with me over who "they" were when anyone with half a brain would easily be able to understand the point and also understand that "they" in the original post was pretty much irrele

OK smart @$$, let me fix it for you. I never mentioned NPR nor did I say NPR could set the standards. I simply responded to your comment That I originaly quoted. But if it will make you happy... If the benchmark for the definition of poor is moved up without a corresponding increase in what the benchmark for what rich is it does. Plain and simple. If the lower end of the middleclass lost buying power the so did the lower end of the rich. It is a real simple concept. compare these: $25k to $250K $45k to $250k That is an 80% increase in the level of poor with a 0.0% incr

I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck

If they move the benchmark for the definition of poor up without a corresponding increase in what they call rich it does. Plain and simple. If the lower end of the middleclass lost buying power the so did the lower end of the rich. It is a real simple concept. compare these: $25k to $250K $45k to $250k That is an 80% increase in the level of poor with a 0.0% increase in the level of rich In the first spread 90% of the spectrum to $250k was considered middle class. In the second spread of the $250k spectrum only 82% is now considered middle class. Can the OP's point
-
By your own logic then, Maybe not in the same percentages though. If inflation is knocking folks out of the middle class due to loss of buying power the it is ALSO knocking folks out of the "evil rich" brackett and into the middle class bracket as well. There fore it may still see a net outflow but there is surely inflow from the upper income.

I'm just going to jump right to the end here and give my thoughts on a $45k / year being considered "low income" so forgive me if any of it was already covered here. To those of you that think all Big Blue or Big O associates, McCrappy and other burger joints et al should be making more than that let me ask you a VERY SIMPLE QUESTION. Exactly how much more are you willing to spend on everything you purchase in order to set the new minimum wage at over $20 / hour just so that people can have this "much ballyhooed " living wage? Because as ANY PERSON WITH A LICK OF COMMON SENSE will be able to f
