Paper and plastic grocery bags could soon cost you
nschur replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm going off memory here. If I remember the concept correctly, what is being referred to is a method of picking, scanning & unscanning products as you shop. You pick items and place them in your buggy. Through the RFID tags you will be able to immediately "add that item to buggy" as you shop. You can see what you have, how much your total is and supposedly even have a shopping list saved at any time. When you are done you finalize your transaction and pick a payment method. The choices on this escape me though. But if you use a credit card you will neber have to stand in line, supposedly. -

They are already charging everywhere. They have always done this, even if it was never openly stated. The bags (paper or plastic) that have always been supplied, are considered a cost of doing business. Even though they get nothing in return on that cost, the bags made it convienient for the customer. Made them happier than if none were provided and even let them carry more items. But as a cost it was still added into the prices the same as energy, maint, lease / rent and fixtures. What's the difference now? It is all about marketing. The same as the cash discount for gas or extra charge for -
It didn't matter who, man or woman, I stopped the application of the law was equal. I would not ticket anyone for less than 15 over, period. What did matter was attitude. Many people quickly talked their way into a ticket rather than out of one.
-
I stopped lots of people for all things. For speeding I mostly went by politeness and speed. Less than 15 over I would not even bother you unless we were asked to make a showing in an area. Then likely a warning for that. If I was going to risk time in court on my off day then you were gonna get points. That happens over 15 mph. Unless it was a school zone. Then no mercy.

When referencing other people, I use Names first. If I can delineate by using clothing, sex, race, physical attributes (non sexual "Big Busted" not an option) height, weight, hair style are all acceptable. In the fire dept. it is easy enough to say "the girl" at station whatever. There are fairly few women in the dept. Girl rather than woman I deem acceptable because we tend to use guy and girl in those references. -

8 weeks summer 1 week fall 1 week Thanksgiving 2 weeks Christmas 1 week winter 1 week spring 14 weeks off per year leaving 38 from the 52 weks in the year as in session. -
You are correct to a point SG. They would have an extra day off and not have to get ready and commute to work on that day. Those are pretty good benefits. It is worth $$$$$ to me not to have to go to work but 1 time every 3 days. No traffic, no getting ready fuel savings.

What is the weekly rate there? If school is in session for 38 weeks a year ( I came up with 36 by dividing 180 / 5 and 38 if we go by next year's callender) 38 X 50 = $1,900 per year in additional child care costs to each family for each child who does not have an alternate solution. That is $3,800 for the average family of 4. That is a huge tax increase to them. And to those that say I already raised mine, I say only that society did not make YOU incur this expense either now did it? -
I understand the issues. Whatever they do someone is gonna pay many more $$. The dual income parents will have to pay lots of extra money for their children, that society has demanded be in school 5 days a week since the 50s, for childcare 1 day a week. Or taxes will go up an amount to cover the 5th day. That forces all citizens to spread out the cost. The arguement against this is that 1. I have no kids, 2 My kids are done. That 2nd is not really the case. Your school taxes for the kids that you raised was spread out over the 40 or so years that you own a home and are required to pay school t

Ok, then let's ask this. If 900 / 180 = 5 leaving 1.5 hours for lunch and ??? And 900 / 140 = 6.5 + .5 (extended)AND that assumes no recess or down time or any other non learning time in the day. They will be learning from 1st bell to last bell with only 30 min for lunch off that entire day. Then what did they cut out for 1 hour / day or 5 hours per week. I see something is missing. What is it? The whole crux of this disagreement is that I theorized it would take closer to an hour or more extended schedule to cover all they are doing now and not cut things out of the program. You have not prov -

Here ya go ( A ) For grades 1 through 3, 810 hours; ( B ) For grades 4 and 5, 900 hours; and ( C ) For grades 6 through 12, 990 hours. GA state legis. Notice where they struck out the 180 day requirement. Like I predicted, 5 hours per day instruction under the 4 - 5th grade level under 180 days. At the rate of 0.5 hours per day it would take 10 days of extended time to compensate for each full day of instruction lost / given up. No I do not know how it is legal in Peach county. -

Understood CT. I was pointing out the cost of daycare for a family with 2 students as compared to the cost of a tax increase. The comparison was more of a would you rather pay $400 per month or fork out a $400 per year county wide increase. But no one wants to do either. If you read my posts further on you will see I am wholey in favor of a county run in school 1 day a week daycare at the PARENT's expense if this move is to be considered. I know what the article said, but you have obviously forgotten the mathmatical issues that I pointed out on this. Here it is again for those tha -
